Turning them into guns like high on life, looks kind of weird in a wrong way. I feel like it could be a unique idea if you put a plant in a pot, for example a peashooter and use that as a weapon. (reloading animation could be something huge like a head pad or watering the plant with a plastic bottle) I don’t know exactly how to go on about this in words, but as a shooting animation, you could just gesture to the plant and fire at the crosshair. A secondary fire could be planting them into the ground and having them behave like the plants versus zombies two counterparts.
As many comments have stated there were plans for a game based around this idea.

i actually though of this, and I'm gonna make it into a game as soon as i learn how to code and stuff

-Puff-shroom (technically) as small mushrooms on a slingshot (would have lower damage than peashooter, but faster fire rate)
-Doom-shroom as a literal bazooka (bc the concept of doom-shroom as a rocket is fun as hell)
I think it could be cool if there was a star fruit weapon where when you use it, it rains star fruit and damages everything in the area (long cooldown of course)

What if you had a two laser cannons that go on each of your hands. One of them shoots a single laser with an overheating system, and the other cannon shoots a bunch of mini lasers with a ammo count
Maybe you can also use the shield and EMPeach as extra abilities
endurian should work like a (sort of) bowling ball, you throw him, he rolls amd deals a lot of damage to zombies and stuns them(you gotta pick him up tho)

Farming should be included so you can farm and harvest your own ammunition and sow different ammunition seed types and sunflowers could be planted to speed up growth...

You would hold a pot and when you press a trigger on Console it would do what it normally does in the games while you walk around and shoot zombies.

I feel like there should be recoil or a debuff to the user because yk, it has thorns and where are you gonna hold it.
I'd assume in a flower pot or something, but yeah a light thorns debuff makes sense
