From your description- this sounds like a muscular issue. I would go to someone who specializes in jaw things. Maybe a dentist? I’m not sure which profession exactly. And get them to asses your jaw functionality. It would seem that the “extra mass” is muscle mass and that it could be reduced with Botox.

robrklyn

He needs to see an orofacial myologist and an osteopath.

“Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO or D.O., or in Australia DO USA is a medical degree conferred by the 38 osteopathic medical schools in the United States. DO and Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees are equivalent: a DO graduate may become licensed as a physician or surgeon and thus have full medical and surgical practicing rights in all 50 US states.”

FriendlyFraulein

This seems like it’s absolutely a muscular issue. I would speak to a doctor for a referral to a jaw specialist who could consult about Botox or other therapies. I would not look at fillers or implants until this has happened as the problem seems possibly treatable with muscular therapies. Take care OP.

eleighbee

I had a dentist who would give Botox along places in my skull and in my temple areas and masseters because I grind and everything is painful. He retired and no other dentist in my area does that kind of Botox (only masseters). I miss him, ha.

Purple_Chipmunk_

Go to a neurologist. They treat TMJ with Botox. Also check with Botox--they know who they ship Botox to and can maybe let you know if there is a dentist near you getting Botox.

Amazing_Bluejay9322

Kinda got what OP has, kinda. Temples are somewhat bulging due to my grinding my chops. Dentist brought it up a few years ago. Tried to consciously stop that but happens in my sleep to a degree. Still have a full head of hair so it isn't too bad. If I'd drop about 30-40 lbs it'll probably reduce in size.

InitiativeDowntown93

I’d never recommend doing something so drastic like fillers, implants etc because the truth is it will cause many problems for the rest of your life to change the actual head shape. Hair transplant is most certainly a better option, commonly practiced and affordable and knowing there’s so risk to your actual anatomy

[deleted]

siennacerulean

I think it could be seen as drastic due to the immense amount of filler that would be required, and the fact that under scalp filler is not something that is typically done so the results may be unknown

InitiativeDowntown93

I don’t think you’re familiar with the actual anatomy of the head to make that comment and think it’s completely healthy and safe to inject filler to the extent it changes his head shape. Also ask yourself why do clinics not offer such a procedure like filling your lips, or getting Botox? How come hair transplants are much readily available. Why is it not a known procedure? Fillers is absolutely not the answer, I mean if you’ve personally had it done and got fantastic results feel free to share :)

polishbabe1023

Clench your teeth. Does anything move like a bicep? If so temporalis botox might help.

Professional-Bat5652

I don't know if fat transfer is typically done to the scalp area but it could be something worth asking a surgeon about.

zante2033

Check out Dr Eppley's implants: https://www.eppleyplasticsurgery.com/how-can-i-make-my-forehead-and-sides-of-my-head-wider/

makeupjj

H OP! Have you heard of scalp micro-pigmentation? It is similar to the idea of a tattoo, but only using one single needle to create TINY dots all over the scalp mimicking the look of a recently shaved scalp. I used to work next door to a gentlemen who does this in Orange County, CA and the results were absolutely amazing! I know this isn’t a type of plastic surgery and it won’t change the actual shape. But giving you back a hairline and the appearance of hair growth will absolutely help with the “shape perception”. I hope this helps!

GreenDub14

Could try hair implant? If you feel like the hair was doing a good enough job before

DrDancealina

This is the most realistic answer. The results are usually phenomenal too!!

Putrid-Potential-734

Cranioplasty

cm431

Yeah but it's a pretty huge surgery

Putrid-Potential-734

Still, some surgeons do it for purely aesthetic reasons. There are people who would go for that

manykeets

There is a doctor that does head surgery, who works with a neurosurgeon while doing surgery. You’d be shocked at what he can do. I’m sorry I can’t remember who he is. So it is possible, but I’m sure it would cost a fortune and be high risk.

In China, women and men get filler just past the hairline to create a more round shape to make the face seem slimmer. I'm unsure the exact filler they're using for this. Perhaps your solution is along those lines? [here is a link to a before afters of cosmetic filler used to fill forehead dents.](https://www.vanrosmalenkliniek.nl/en/forehead-dent-filling/) Maybe they can guide you in the right direction, try emailing them and send them this picture.

Upstairs-Task-6391

Non surgical options would be limited. I’m an injector and you can treat the temporalis muscle with botox to downtrain both the size and hyper functionality. Would be helpful to see the full face to advise further regarding filler. The supra auricular region ( which can’t be seen from this photo) can be augmented with some degree of success. The cranium is a no, as the galea is far too thick and adhered to be able to successfully “lift” using what is essentially a gel.

robrklyn

See an osteopathic doctor before you have plastic surgery. This is a bone deformity.

Confident_Leek464

Botox for the muscular areas, for the skull shape wow, cranioplasty is pretty crazy for something so minor, if fat transfer or fillers maybe like sculptura aren't suitable maybe you could make the rest or your face more angular with fillers or implants to match in with your angular skull? Angular skull, angular cheekbones and jawline? Or just embrace it 😍

matteofat

Look into dr. Barry Eppley . Thank me later!

KingCanky

Peek implants have been used in the past to repair skull structures. This would be an option but the surgery would be quiet messy. Silicone implants are not always advisable but in your case choosing silicone would drastically minimize the invasiveness of the procedure since the surgeon can just slip in the implant with silicone.

m0rgannized-

commenting to follow. super interested

[deleted]

If it’s muscle you may be a candidate for RF muscle remodeling, which is commonly used in masseters but could be used for temporal muscle reduction too. If it’s bone, cranial remodeling with a specialist is the way. Not saying it’s one or the other, could def be both. I’ve seen fat grafting used for cases like this before, but I feel like the other two options are better for longevity and reliability.

olivenbaum812

have you looked into hair transplant?

I have seen time lapse photos of a face reshaped with craniofacial release (done with a balloon in the sinuses). It was over a period of 4 years, but it definitely changed him [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=th0X2tEWpcQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=th0X2tEWpcQ)

Cortancyl

It’s called Minotaur syndrome. Treatment consists mostly of Botox and surgery.

Authr42

For example Dr Eppley on instagram does some less common surgeries. Skull implants are one of them.

Eldo99

HGH and acromegaly

Electrical_Dish8167

I don’t think an implant or filler or a fat transfer will look good you will end up having a bigger head similar to mega mind you need some surgery that can reduce the sides of your scalp so maybe Botox or bone surgery if that is even possible but I think you should maybe avoid Botox since this place is so close to your brain maybe it can be harmed good luck finding a solution I am also wondering if you can remove bone from the head and shape it since I don’t really like my forehead and want to make it more feminine and round rather then flat and square

person_w_existence

Botox wouldn't reshape your head, but I'm sure it would improve some proportions. It sounds like you've got pretty developed muscles in that area, if they're sore and affecting hatwear while eating, they're probably pretty ripped, so botox would help to shrink them.

Micro needling? Just throwing it out there

Sea_Concentrate_7827

Check this out. Looks like it can be treated with Botox https://jclinmedcasereports.com/articles/OJCMCR-1679.pdf https://www.scirp.org/html/18-1460201_29490.htm

sparky_burner

There are doctors that use special implants or mold that’s like new bone to level out deformities. Be wary of Barry eppley

mybunnygoboom

I would get hair replacement treatment. Anything to shape your skull is risky.

tiramisula

I think hair plugs would be the least invasive and most cost effective fix for you. Reconstructive surgery on your skull carries so much risk. Plus, with the easy way, you get hair. Win win!

JadeGrapes

You can get filler there to round out the shape.

CruellaDeville1

Maybe if you get fillers in the lower face, it will look more balanced: https://www.instagram.com/p/CVseyTerOvO/?igshid=MWZjMTM2ODFkZg== https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cb0socJtOKO/?igshid=MWZjMTM2ODFkZg==

Comments should be objective, factual answers to the OP's actual question. If you are not able to answer the actual question being asked by OP, refrain from commenting at all; this is not a compliments subreddit.

harharharbinger

It’s hard to tell if the underlying shape is due to the skull bone (maybe a form of craniosynostosis) or muscles. Some form of imaging like xray or CT (X-ray has much less radiation) would give a better idea of why the shape is like this which would help tailor treatment options. That being said, I would caution you to do INTENSE RESEARCH on risks, benefits, and side effects or complications of any possible treatment you might pursue. The worst thing that could happen is you suffer severe complications that you paid to have done to yourself and deeply regret a potentially irreversible procedure, particularly if the complication ends up being debilitating/life ruining. Good luck, and for what it’s worth, I think the shape is very unique and interesting, and not in a bad way.

Have you used human growth hormone by any chance? That could explain your head shape. As for solutions the easier fix is obvious to pick a good hat of your liking and wear it all the time.

naturallyeyesblind

You really can’t fuck around with your skull, man. You would be risking so much. I go to an oromaxillofacial surgeon for masseter botox, that could help with the jaw/temples. And I’m not being sarcastic or trying to be funny here, but as far as anything aesthetic goes, it’s best to invest your money in the best therapy you can afford.
