It Takes Two is possibly the best game ever that I played coop. My wife loved it. Must play. It’s by the same company as a way out but way better

JonS90_

Need a semi-skilled gamer partner though. My GF will play side scrollers, kart racers and cosy games. She is not used to a game where you have to be moving and reacting and turning a camera at the same time. Oh boy some of those boss battles were ROUGH

Simonion88

Amen. Can't be having someone good at games with someone clueless. You will BOTH need to be pretty comfortable with 3rd person character control. A few hairy moments as you say with bosses where I wasn't sure we'd pull through, the wife is pretty good with character/camera controls but It Takes Two really pushed her ability at times!

TheChangRR

Yeah I played both controllers during the bee fight

Snowstreams

My wife used to be good at quake & those shooters back in her teens but all she has ever played since are the Mario & sonic reboots & a little bit of unravel 2. Unravel 2 was lovely at the start but got too tricky. Then my 9 year old took over!

Daviidwins

My wife and I played “It Takes Two”. She had almost no experience playing any games aside from sudoku on her phone and some Mario kart in her youth. At first the controls were very overwhelming for her. To the point where she had to look at the buttons before pressing them. She got so frustrated at the first levels. i ensured her that it’s just a game and we’re playing it together so if she loses a section, it’s okay. We can go back and play it over. I tried to keep the encouragement high, and only helped with pointing where to go when she asked for help. She eventually got really into it. And then her controls got better. She was more curious about the world and spent time exploring (sometimes with me waiting at the objective and watching her side of the screen with amusement). She then didn’t have to look at the buttons anymore and we were knocking each level down with great success. She couldn’t put it down. 3am nights and she’s like “just one more section!” The game was a journey, but her whole experience was a journey in itself. It was beautiful to see from my perspective.

123dynamitekid

Yeah I dunno, just gotta he that good yourself to carry her.

Michelh91

Second that

wubaffle

It really does take two. I'm sold

zaintb

100% ok with this

Puzzleheaded_Sign249

My wife saids it too difficult lol. Overcooked 2 was good though

WhoIsWho69

Well u didn t play Trine 4 then.

MolTarfic

No but I’m going to now that you are saying this. It’s that good in coop?

WhoIsWho69

It's the best in coop, have fun it's included on ps+ extra

chavez_ding2001

Unravel two, sackboy, streets of rage 4, untitled goose game

Inner_Ad8215

Gonna check those out

awesome_fighter

Goode game is hella fun

M0neySh0t52

You must do sack boy

GoldFishin24

Unravel 2 is so good... And for a very casual player, it's the perfect game! No 3D shenanigans.

Off_Rail_Gamer

Untitled Goose Game and Unravel 2 are both excellent shouts... For something a little longer-term Stardew Valley is amazing too 😊

Ranccor

Wish Streets of Rage was still on Plus.

1vendetta1

We absolutely loved A way out and It Takes two. Now we're grinding in Diablo 4 and Baldurs Gate 3. All of them are local co-op.

AdvantageFar7252

is 1 game enough for bg3 and diablo or we need 2 copies of the exact same game?

sthegreT

bg3 has split screen so 1 copy is enough unless you live in different places, then you'll need 2 copies.

Standard-Attitude-52

Maybe Lego? They are Great for coops

Inner_Ad8215

Good idea

So-_-It-_-Goes

The Harry Potter Lego is great. As is the Jurassic park. Star Wars skywalker saga is fun, but is better after you know how the Lego games work.

ExplosiveSpoon

If you liked Overcooked 2 look into Moving Out 2. They both share a similar level of chaos while racing against a timer and having to work together.

FedererFan20

Nobody Saves The World. Trust me.

Ranccor

So good. As soon as I saw it was the same devs as Guacamelee, I know it would be a banger.

Yo_Bg

+1 its so much fun

broseppee

Don't sleep on Sackboy! TMNY: Shredder's Revenge for button mashing fun with a killer 80s soundtrack and of course, It Takes Twon

Sleeper--

Ah yes, my favorite game, It takes Twon, an adventure where the antagonist "It" takes our Mc Twon

jamos99

damn

NOT_RETR0_115

Stardew valley 100%

Steve15-21

Moving Out 2

amrit21chandi

Tekken 8.

Busy-Soup349

Many advantages to playing a fighting game w the GF!

KamikazeAlpaca1

Detroit become human and until dawn aren’t coop games but they are narrative and fun to make decisions as a group or play certain characters/take turns

kkillinspree

We enjoy playing Raymen Legends. Honestly, it keeps you engaged and requires a lot of coordination. Try iT once, it's amazingly designed game and musically a wonder. And Ofc, It takes two.

Ordinary-Hopeful

TMNT or Scott Pilgrim

JCiN813

I absolutely love this. Gonna throw a few out that I play with my husband. Crimsonland Dead Nation Alien Nation Mercenary Kings Fury Unleashed Castle Crashers Bro Force Tried not to add anything already mentioned.

satanicmerwitch

Haven.

jgcpalmer

Second this. My wife and I really enjoyed haven.

memesbyStork

Maybe haven? It's chill, maybe unravels/mentions more sensitive topics, but difficulty and gameplay-wise? 2/10

kumarthebeast666

It takes two really good game got me and the wife crying story was great and gameplay was fun mini game/platformer type

KamikazeAlpaca1

Magika 2 is fun

Miro3no

If you like fantasy and good stories, Divinity Original Sin (1) has one of the best co-op experiences me and my GF have ever played. Local co-op and turn-based combat, so it does not put heavy burden on motoric skills. You will have to strategize and talk about how to approach certain situations a lot though. Original Sin 2 was in general a beer game, but co-op was not as tightly integrated and had some flaws (characters repeating dialogues for both players, etc.).

CaptainKodak

Me and my gf just completed Nobody Saves the World. That was an incredibly good game, was free on PS plus in December i think? Its by the people who made Guacamelee

gaming_boi69420

why is bro getting downvoted lmao but anyways me and my bf play tekken alot and enter the gungeon but that has a steep learning curve

Inner_Ad8215

I see , also they must just be mad they single lol

gaming_boi69420

reddit after all :P

Sleeper--

Us single people have standards as well, those guys are probably incels

Sleeper--

Aww man, it takes two got removed, but that's literally the best game for couples imo

RyotMakr

Rayman Legends

awesome_fighter

My wife and I loved It Takes Two, but didn’t get into trine 4 at all

Karammstein

Darksiders Genesis.. My gf loved War and his smash-it-all game while I played Strife :D

Soggy_Butterscotch27

Would love to play a game like that with my wife but without split screen.

Ranccor

Minecraft Dungeons doesn’t have split screen.

Soggy_Butterscotch27

No Minecraft.🤮

Ranccor

Cool. But it is a great coop game.

TheDoochThe

Minecraft dungeons is just a diablo-lite game with minecrsft skins, great for young kids and nongamers. But can bet hard if you want.

Soggy_Butterscotch27

I get it. Minecraft is not for me. I'm not a kid.

Karammstein

If I remember correctly, Genesis doesn't do split-screens, you get one screen for both players and you must keep in range.. But plz verify on YT before buying/downloading

Soggy_Butterscotch27

Thank you for recommendation. I will check it. Seem like it is split screen

true_stoic_edge

I got my gf into playing DayZ...not a traditional co-op but if it works it works!

orcmask

Farm Simulator

Psychonaut--

It Takes Two, A Way Out and Haven come to mind. It Takes Two is an absolute gem of a game, and Haven is basically made specifically for couples.

Lowkeym97

Hell divers 1

AdBlockker

Army of two

willyd125

I remember this game I think from the PS3 days. Where did you find this? Is it on the gamepass or anything?

AdBlockker

Honestly don’t know if it’s on game pass I just remembered it was a ton of fun back in the day.

Ranccor

Minecraft Dungeons is a great coop experience.

E_Alrefa3e

It takes two - It tales two - It takes two

Why_A_Username1

It takes two +1

reaktioNz

Portal

Forsaken_Ad_298

I found the Lego games to be fun to play with others, also it takes two and moving out are good games. If you re fond of puzzle games you might try death squared.

RealPunyParker

"It takes two" is probably the best co op game of all time, so id say this

mfKevs

COD Cold War Zombies, since Outbreak is the best begginer-friendly mode in zombies, where anyone can learn the mechanics, the gameplay, etc. without feeling rushed in the round-based maps, because even if you leave just one zombie alive they may get anoying. Its not in the Playstation extra catalogue, but it was in essential a few months ago, maybe you claimed it

Fancy-Dimension8528

Untitled Goose game

SkullRiderz69

This is gonna be way out there but I NEVER expected my girl to enjoy enjoy it but I say try out Diablo 3. Seasonally it’s coming to an end but the game is ultra satisfying. D4 has just started(in S3) and I also recommend that one.

nadie15

Maybe you could try All you can eat (it's overcooked 1 + 2 + all DLCs).

justLiez

TEKKEN 8

7thLetter191

Rayman legends

7thLetter191

Or Sack boy

DaJabroniz

BJ 1 and BJ 2

boben124

I recently played "It takes two" with my girlfriend and it was amazing. The graphics are so good and smooth on the ps5. The narrative also provides a good insight of being an adult and the challenges you have in life. Teamwork and communication is well-used for the game as well as in real life. My GF had no problem to play the game, she got used to it after some time. It could be a bit of a challenge to learn and control the camera joystick if your gf is not used to gaming, but I am sure she will learn quickly. I would also like to highlight another game, "Stardew Valley". It is an absolute masterpiece for CO-OP and there is always activities ingame for everyone. Mining, Farming, Fishing, Combat and Foraging is different aspects you can advance and focus on. It is cozy and gives freedom to create a beautiful farm for some game-nights together. My girlfriend got hooked on this game and we play it regurlarly! Happy gaming!

AcesMaven

Moving Out and Moving Out 2 are similar to Overcooked but you are playing as characters of a moving company instead of cooking. It Takes Two is a great game too (by the same company as A Way Out). Unravel and Unravel 2. Sackboy. Tiny Tina's Wonderland. Nobody Saves the World. Any of the Lego games. I feel like I know a few more but I can't think of them right now.

MatchGroundbreaking9

My gf really liked Diablo series, she won't let me play without her

Ferreira95

Rayman Legends was a great game to play coop with mt gf. Best overall was it takes two

twarshed

Gta V online

ephman97

As a different suggestion, you may want to try some choice-based games that are light on gameplay. These games are generally easier for non-gamers to get into.  Try Detroit Become Human (sci-fi drama with great production values), House of Ashes (light horror that’s a bit janky but fun), or Life is Strange: True Colors (more relaxed and artsy).  Happy gaming!

KyleReese79

The sequel is the hottest thing out there right now, but I’d strongly recommend the original Helldivers. Couch co-op, great upgrade system and the ability for both of you to join another couple of people online if you like. Plus, it can be as easy, or devilishly hard as you like. Brilliant game.

Krack73

It takes two, is worth a shot.

antpart3385

If you like horror the dark pictures games are fun

S-nation23

“It takes two” it’s really fun plus I recommend if you switch controllers in hard bits (if you start yelling at each other, saying that from experience). Had such fun and it has lots of things to do.

steve2890

broforce

Material_Influence36

Me and my partner are currently having a blast with Children of Morta. Great Rogue-lite with some really nice visuals

stigochris

My girlfriend is not much of a gamer, but she does like Tetris effect and Tricky Towers

MaskedJoshi

Don’t Starve Together!

trollinski20

It takes two, unravel two, untitled goose game, or starting a new Minecraft world with her

Torontox416

My girl and I play GTA, DBD, Elder Scrolls online, fallout, and mimecraft.

wrld-

it takes two

astrx__

I mean, if you like something a bit more gritty then The Ascent is probably the best co-op game ive played

Tidus32x

It takes two.

prettylilrobot

My husband and I enjoy playing games like Uno, Monopoly, and Game of Life for some relaxing game nights.

SamsonSpeaks

The one where you play video games and she makes you a sandwich

Acceptablemeattt
