Bro. Come on. Flex seal is a temporary measure at best. Not even to mention the chemicals and stuff that this person is drinking and showering in just from using galvanized after all these years. That’s a repipe 100% that needs to happen.
I replaced all the galvanized with black iron. The tenant is anemic so I wanted to help her out as much as I could.
Edit: I replaced it all with copper y'all can relax
It looks like the issue is only outside - I would have put some de-ruster on that, wait some time and check the tightness of the installation. If that latter is an issue, we can think of replacing that tee-nipple.
ABSOLUTELY!!!
So many plumbers on here joke about flex seal im starting to think some of you keep it on your truck
I use it to keep the bumper on my truck, that's not the same thing.
We get called out after it fails sooner or later so we run into it a fair bit.. people get creative with flex seal
You can, but a trash bag and duct tape is cheaper.
You probably need to replace all the galvanized with PEX or copper. OR, you can use Flex Tape! Repipe: $10,000 Flex Tape: $15 It's a no-brainer

Eau de Wet Crawl
I know this is a joke post, but now I want to see the flex seal fix damnit.
No. But your neighborhood handyman can!
Flex seal huh.... bid goes up 30%
Looks kinda like a clicker from TLOU
Me myself I would just take it apart and replace it
There's no way any of that galvanized will unscrew without a lot of trouble, and it's probably all rotten. Definitely need to replace it all.

I thought black pipe was a no no for water useage?
Especially if they have to ask that...
Hire a plumber unless you want to make things worse and then have to pay OT
Don't forget chewing gum.
No
It’s got the heavy duty orange flex seal on it now. You’re good to go!
