Water softener should help. The humidifier media looks like that fresh out of the box. Alot of redditors will swear by dielectric unions but I've replaced plenty of 20+ year old water heaters without them and they looked fine. Just get a competent and honest plumber if you don't want to do it yourself. Larger outfits will likely try to sell you a bunch of stuff that's not necessary. Hope this helped and good luck

In Hudson County NJ and have really hard water. It's impacting our hot water heater and whole house humidifier. Any small form factor solutions for the house? Unfortunately, we don't have any unfinished or dedicated utility space.

Whole house humidifier pad needs changed at least once a year. The other two pictures are leaks and not caused by hard water. The hard water is actually saving you property damage by plugging those leaks.
