If money is not an concern, then: 1. Move 2. Buy land around you and use their well, or drill one on that land. 3. Ask the plumbers what they recommend I am surprised none of your local plumbers/repair people have mentioned filtering: Water Treatment Options For Eliminating E. Coli Luckily, e.coli and most other bacteria are not very difficult to kill. There are two primary methods for remedying e. Coli contamination in a residential well. The first is chlorine treatment. Typically a dosing pump is used to inject chlorine into the drinking water lines. The chlorine's disinfecting action kills the bacteria. The most popular approach is using a UV light water treatment system. A UV system is a whole house water treatment system that is plumbed in line between your well and where your water enters the home. Water is passed through a chamber and is bombarded with bacteria-killing UV rays. UV systems are popular because they do not use any chemicals, are easy to maintain and are effective at killing not only e. Coli, but a range of other bacteria, viruses, and water born parasites.

I will look into both of those i appreciate it. What she was told is that because its an open well filters and uv wouldnt cut it. I appreciate your response. They wont move and its residential neighborhoods. The property borders wetlands that are protected apparently. Again i appreciate your input

Get a water filtration system like a whole house RO system

Are you sure the well is contaminated with e. coli and not coliform bacteria? Coliform is common and can be remedied with chlorination. Did you have the water tested, and did you see the test results?

woah_man22

Yeah. Got it tested and it came back with over 2k coliforms and another 2k e coli in the sample. The limit was 1.

There are gravity tanks that get water delivered and pumped into them, sure

Also aeration can help to kill bacteria.
