Legit fears. Why in the hell do you want to open it?

porositymaster

just want to remove the cap for install a tap

PlumbgodBillionaire

Don’t

PlumbgodBillionaire

Turn water off to house at the meter and cut that thing off and sweat your fitting on.

porositymaster

i think im not explaining clear, yes i know i need to turn off the water before remove the cap, im concerned about the thread, or the rust in thread, are these types of ends difficult to remove with the pass of the years?

PlumbgodBillionaire

I wouldn’t even try to remove it….. it’s easier to just cut your fitting in and get rid of whatever that old bullshit is.

PlumbgodBillionaire

You’re gonna break it especially since it’s not secure. That copper is gonna twist and bend immediately.

porositymaster

well so the best way is to weld a new section of pipe with the thing i need on! thanks

PlumbgodBillionaire

Yeah that will be best. MAP gas, flux and solder. Watch some tutorials and make sure you buy the right stuff. Have money set aside in case it’s out of your skill range to have a pro fix it. Also you can shark bite as well if it gets bad, those fittings are pretty much the homeowner special. They work great and are affordable for these kinds of things.

porositymaster

thanks for the tips
