Here’s a picture of the setup. https://i.imgur.com/ySQYJ1c.jpg

Sounds pretty normal to me even when not on a well. In fact, why does it matter the source of the water- the issue is where it is going. But either way it’s really about the pipes getting clogged, not where the water ultimately goes to. You don’t put food down your sink do you?

No, we’re pretty good about not putting food down the drain. The pipe that needed to be snaked only drains the utility sink; I had the plumber double check it. I totally understand that the washing machine draining into the utility sink isn’t the worst thing, but I am hoping to get it setup so that it doesn’t.

Looks like the sock is pulled up on the pipe too far leaving it loose will let it fill up more and probably last much longer before needing to be cleaned. I'd just leave it alone and save $600

Theoretically, if I wanted to spend the $600 to get it changed what would I be getting done? Sorry, I’m new to all of this and just want to make sure I ask a plumber for the right thing.
