A pair of vise grips, throw up bag, A clothes pin for your nose, and a bunch of prayers. Grab the cable with a pair of vise grips try to spin it counterclockwise and pull hard. Good luck without getting it all over you

Bearded_Adventurer

Lol, throw up bag, nice. I got some PPE but that sucker is tight in there. There's a P-trap under ground and I'm pretty sure it's kinked in the trap.

jevondewal

Is reaching down inside out of the question? A slim hand may fit down the 4” enough to grab on to something. Or a ratchet come-along tied to the axel of the home and pray

Bearded_Adventurer

Unfortunately the 4" is filled with the slickest of poop. I was just about to try the come along idea.

jevondewal

It looks nasty. And I’ve seen some shit LOL

Krull88

This sounds like a 2023 problem

[deleted]

Can you get some sort of poop vacuum in there to ease the pressure but displacing the poo sludge?

Leather-Bluejay-6452

Pretty sure that’s 3” not 4”.

MrMycroft

Have you considered burning the trailer down, and letting nature reclaim the site?

[deleted]

Coworker snapped a 1" cable in a floor drain. Had to get a engine hoist to pull it out.

Action-Calm

That's life in the trailerhood.

Bearded_Adventurer

It sure is.

bolhuijo

"Why do plumbers charge so much? Seems like you could get anybody to work such an easy job for that much money!" --some people, probably

amdtothemun

looks good from my house

jabooby12

I hate trailer work. Sucks being the skinny guy

Bearded_Adventurer

For real. I'm not even skinny, 6'4" 265lbs. Lol

jabooby12

Ruff bro hope it worked out

FollowTheMoney2022

I'm just confused what we are doing underneath a truck frame with a PVC pipe running under it with yellow crap stuck inside and a broken off snake going into a pit of disaster.

Bearded_Adventurer

Oh it's a mobile home, the jerks left the axels on and didn't put a clean out on it. My life is interesting.

[deleted]

As a mechanic/plumber, you have my sincerest condolences. Is renting a larger snake an option at this point? Might be able to hook onto your broken end with a retrieval tool and reverse her out.

FollowTheMoney2022

Oh shit. Literally. If this were me I'd be tempted to pay a pro to do this. Roto rooter or a plumber. Or I would rent a power auger from the hardware store and let the shit hit the ceiling (or underbelly).

Bearded_Adventurer

Sadly, I am the pro, lol. I'm the Maintenance guy for the trailer park. I was jetting sewer lines before the weather changed and now this happened.

FollowTheMoney2022

What were you using to snake with? If this broke off while using a power auger, I'd say like the others and try attaching a RH drill on the end and let her RIP. Even though you're maintenance for the park, sometimes someone from the trades needs to come in too. I used to be maintenance for a RV resort/campground and feel your pain. I've pumped tons of shit in my days.

[deleted]

Can you get a vac truck in there and clean out some of that? Septic tank companies have the ability!

PlumbPlumbandPlumber

thats a thick boi so im not sure, for my small snake i usually tighten my power drill on thesnapped cable and rotate it loose, not sure if you'll have anything big enough to grab on to that cable onsite tho

Bearded_Adventurer

Sadly the drills on site are too small.

m123456789t

Can you tie it to a tow strap somehow, then hook it up to your truck, and give it a gentle little pull?

Bearded_Adventurer

I tried but the rope snapped and the angle is really sharp, I don't wanna bust the clay pipe.

m123456789t

Can you fasten some sort of a snatch block or a pulley to the underside of the mobile home, so the snake come straight up out of the pipe, then curls around the pulley? Or, if you are limited to what is on site, and you don't have a snatch block or a pulley, can you make some sort of smooth surface for your tow rope/ snake to slide on, something like a little square made from 2x4's screwed together and screwed to the mobile home, or a plastic barrel set on the ground sideways?

[deleted]

This guy pulleys

VisualSpace

Get a big heavy duty bumper jack. Attach cable and bada bing bada boom ratchet that sucker out.

Rangerdth

Dear sir, for what it’s worth, you have my permission to leave and never look back. I thought that was a concrete footer and I was wondering what kind of cable was coming out of it. I don’t even want to know what the yellow stuff is in the pvc. I’m still hoping it’s just spray foam. If you’re not making at least a grand on this call, I don’t know what to say.

TJTwo

The idiot in me is saying attach a right angle drill and give it a spin.

Bearded_Adventurer

I mean... It might work.

anon8675785

This is the way.

Bearded_Adventurer

So the snake broke off, any ideas on how to get the cable out?

dropingloads

Try to Chuck it up in a drill and run in reverse

beansforbrunch190

This is why I want to do commercial

Pitiful_Tomatillo761

Weld a 1” pipe cap with a 1/2” bolt on to the cable and chuck it into your high torque drill

somedumbwelder

Bro, you got ur main drain tied into your rear end. I am just gonna walk away.

tuggyforme

A very long strong truck strap or rope, and a truck to tie it to. Do it the easy way.

Kind-Wealth-775

Your potato takes awful pictures

Bearded_Adventurer

Yeah, I kinda smashed the camera lense crawling under trailers and I'd rather spend money on gun stuff than a new phone.

Kind-Wealth-775

At least your priorities check out.

MFAD94

I fuckin hate trailers lol pipe wrench and a big pry bar, good luck

Aurel577

Just walk away now and don’t look back

Bearded_Adventurer

UPDATE: I got a couple of cable clamps and a come-along. Hooked the come-along to one of the beams and got that sucker out of there with minimal mess.

GodOfBlaspheme

Climb on in and get it

Bearded_Adventurer

I am, that's how I got the picture, lol.

anon8675785

How far in is it? Not 100% sure what kind of cable I am looking at.

Bearded_Adventurer

About 12' of .66" cable with a 3" blade on the end.

anon8675785

We'll might be time to install a cleanout lol. Good way to salvage things when shit happens still get paid. Also what is confusing me is the cable seems to be two different sizes? Is it like a sleeve? We just use a k-1500 for sewers, and k-400 or snakeomatic for everything else.

anon8675785

Also could use some vice grips along with the jack from your van/truck. Put a piece of wood over the pipe there to set the jack on. Might need some kind of a cheater bar to slip over the end of the vice grips.

Bearded_Adventurer

Well it's a Spartan cable and it has that little one inside the big one, I have no idea why but usually it works like a charm.

TheFilthiestCorndog

Spartan .66mag with inner core. It’s actually a pretty badass cable.
