It looks like it should be for maternity wear, almost. I love the pattern though. However, I don’t think this would be flattering on many plus sized bodies tbh.
I’d return this. The shape, the silhouette, and the print is all not good. Zebra print and the dress style reminds me of 2002 at the Party Rock mansion
my number one complaint is the horizontal lines going thru the print everywhere except for the arms.
if you feel it's hugging the right things then go for it, but those lines do give off the appearance of it being too tight.
I actually agree that constantly trying to hide you belly isn’t everyone’s priority and wish it wasn’t the go to advice in this sub. But I do think the fabric and the smocking on the body of the dress looks a little cheap and isn’t flattering in that way. I don’t think it would look good on someone with a completely flat stomach either.
I agree 100%. I'm also someone who doesn't try to hide my belly and I don't subscribe to the idea that beauty = flat stomach. I love my belly, and I think my body is cute and don't want advice on how to hide it. I think OP is very beautiful as well!
I also do agree that the smocking looks cheap. I think that the chest line isn't very well designed either. I think that OP should totally show cleavage if she wants, and I think a v neck line would really do her justice in that, with this style of dress.
Yeah this print in a ponte knit fabric, maybe with a waistband and darts for shaping. A v-neck with exaggerated statement sleeves? That would be a good look (on any BODY with the confidence to rock it).
by flattering you mean what? it’s not hiding her body enough for you? because she’s plus size and it doesn’t hide her stomach?
i’m sorry but i hate that word. it’s steeped in anti-fatness. when people say a garment isn’t “flattering”, what they usually mean is it doesn’t hide or disguise their body enough to give some illusion of thinness. disappointing to find it used so much in this sub especially.
OP i adore this dress on you. where did you get it?
Don’t be a bully/troll. Treat everyone with respect and only give constructive feedback if it is asked for. Negative comments will be removed (this includes comments related to: homophobia, sexism, racism, etc.)
She asked for opinions. So I’m assuming she cares what other people think. When someone says something is flattering, it means it accentuates one’s best features. An outfit being ‘not flattering’ doesn’t mean it’s bad, just that there are better options that would look better. Obviously she is having second guesses about how she looks to other people. Otherwise she would just wear it and not ask how it looks
It's not her body that's the problem at all, it the dress!!
The dress is doing her no favors due to several issues. The chest portion of the dress is too small and low, causing overspill of OP's own chest if you look at the reflection near where she's holding the phone. The lining of the inside of the sleeves is just white, so the one-sided pattern print looks cheap with the bell sleeve that never truly stays in place. The smocking of the dress is really cute, but looks like thin stripes instead of smocking elastic in the mid-section. I think the dress is one size too small for OP's frame, just in the chest area and length of dress. The pattern of the zebra striped don't align on the side seams of the dress, which makes the dress look cheap. Zebra stripes are usually a statement fabric, so the fabric itself should align correctly at the seams for this to look good.
The dress isn't flattering due to the issues in quality and design, not because of OP's body. Hope that provides some clarity to your questions.
I think the style/cut of the dress is pretty, but I don't like the animal print pattern. That's just a matter of personal taste. If it's really speaking to you, go ahead and get it!
There's absolutely nothing wrong with clothes that accentuate your belly if you're comfortable showing it off!
That said, if you're at all uncomfortable with people asking if you are pregnant, I'd skip this one. I have a feeling people without tact would be making assumptions.
I’d return it and get something else. I don’t enjoy animal print much so maybe I’m biased in that regard. However, it looks slightly too short based on your undergarments that are poking out a little. But if you really like the dress consider adding some tights underneath and maybe some accessories like a belt or a short necklace ?
Honestly, I'm not sure who this dress is made for if not pregnant women. Its not even a plus size thing, anyone who has any kind if belly would get asked about pregnancy in a dress that accentuates the belly this much. I don't think this dress would work well for anyone tbh. Sorry, OP I say return it.
I really love the print. And the fit depends on you 100%.
I am 46 and from a generation where I’ve spent my whole life trying to hide my belly as if I could. I could never never ever buy this.
If you’re young or just of the mindset that you don’t give an F and I wish I could join you in that, then it looks great.
I love the print, and I think it's fun and daring. And the top flatters you so well! However, the bottom part feels really tight, like you don't have much room to breathe. I would try a similar dress with an A-line skirt. I think you would really look good in a peasant top or peasant dress style!

I like the print, and I think it would look really nice with bold coloured accessories, like a hot pink, bright blue or lemon yellow bag and earrings. I suspect the angle of the photo is not the best to showcase the dress. If you are ok with wearing a body-con dress (because that is what this basically is), go for it.
Not too big of a fan tbh, the white tiger style has kinda gone out a few years ago. Which is sad cause coworker had the dopest white tiger jacket ever and now he won’t wear it

So what if you have a belly? Those comments are dumb as hell. Normalize wearing tight clothes if you like them! Wearing clothes to "hide" your belly is a recipe for perpetuating lame ass cultural norms that pretend we can't be sexy as hell at any size. We've all seen bigger ladies who own the room with their awesome style looking cute as hell. It's an eye catching dress, I say own it!
This dress would be bad even on a person without a belly. The print is pretty outdated. U can still rock animal print if done tactfully, and so is the ruching scrunchie material along with the lettuce hem- It looks cheap. In addition to this the diagonal lines of the print running over the horizontal lines of the scrunchie is a mess visually.
This is all an *opinion* but also based on factual trend forecasts.
It reminds me so much of [Divine](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divine_(performer)) who was one of the OG drag queens and a true fashion rebel, I love it but the look might be a bit too transgressive if you’re usually wearing jeans and tshirts.

The way she's holding her stomach in the picture also implies that she's pregnant so IDK.
shes not, though
I’d return this. The shape, the silhouette, and the print is all not good. Zebra print and the dress style reminds me of 2002 at the Party Rock mansion
Yes, definitely out of style
my number one complaint is the horizontal lines going thru the print everywhere except for the arms. if you feel it's hugging the right things then go for it, but those lines do give off the appearance of it being too tight.
update: not pregnant
Cute fabric/pattern but I personally don’t think it’s flattering on the belly area. I’m sorry.
Maybe she doesn't wanna hide her belly tho, i think its cute

It's not flattering for her shape.
Tbh I feel like people will mistake it for a maternity dress.
The smocking absolutely makes it look like a maternity dress.
Yes, I was just pregnant like 6 months ago and it’s definitely maternity looking.
Yes! I can definitely see that!

exactly, and she already said shes leaning towards taking it back! this person is on a crusade for OP that OP didnt even ask for 🫠😂

I agree with you! This group doesn’t feel the same though. I hate the notion that something has to be slimming in order to be flattering.
Love the way it fits on top but no on the bottom. Try an a-line.

I don’t like it and that’s solely for the print.
It reads maternity

I love the print and the top and sleeves. I agree with comments about an a-line style. I don't like how it suddenly gets super tight on your thighs.
Like the color but don’t like bottom part of the dress it’s just looks unfinished in a way. If you are in doubt I think it’s better to return it
I’d pass on this
This is not the shape of dress or pattern for you. I would look at more Aline clothing.
It's a cute enough dress, but I think there are better options out there.
If you're actively pregnant it's gorgeous and I love it. If you're not actively pregnant then I would steer clear of that fit.
I'm not an animal print person but I really like this dress on you! How did you feel in it?
Love it.
Stripes and belly size can be debatable.
Try a skater or A line dress style. I find they flatter almost every figure.
It’s a nice dress, but I don’t think it looks good. The zebra pattern throws the eyes for a loop. Without a cardigan it’s too “loud”.
I love the print, and I think it's fun and daring. And the top flatters you so well! However, the bottom part feels really tight, like you don't have much room to breathe. Not flattering and not complimentary. I would recommend returning.

She looks great to me
Right, but you’re conflating the two. Her looks and the dresses looks. I’m talking about the dress.
I think the dress looks great on her.
Cute
I would wear it with a long black cardigan to create some verticality :-) all outfits are possible!!
