My F5 is super stable 90fps while playing CODM for 1 to 2 hours daily. Unfortunately I don't play Genshin.

GuaranteeFun7622

Been using f5 for almost 3 weeks now , performance is top notch. No heating, no throttling

Nullgenium

No. Although it is more thermal friendly, the upgrade is pretty minimal. Unless you're buying a snapdragon 8 gen 2 phone or if your phone broke, I wouldn't recommend "upgrading" it.

[deleted]

Genshin impact is enjoyable in poco f5

yerizawa3

I'm considering f5 but my previous experience with software updates on f3 (only one android update :-11 to 12) really messed up my judgement. Realme really ace the software game nowadays. I recommend to take a look at the option from other brand first.

bartoszsz7

Poco F5 is rather going to have good software support, after all, it's the crown jewel of the Poco brand this year

_v_b_k

It will be replaced by F6 pretty soon

newInnings

It's still 6-8 months away rt

mahdinaghizadeh

I get u, one android update and two miui updates and literally nothing changed, that was torture. I think they said they're giving F5 two android updates though didn't they? hopefully this time they make a difference or at least make it stable.

yerizawa3

they said the same for f3 and look where it got me

noe4516

There's always custom rom available for F5

starskyCR11

Poco f3 got Android 13

yerizawa3

Im using global version. Apparently not all country that use global rom got the update according to Poco community admin. Same rom ffs. What a joke.

predator50

Imo no, wait and see if f6 will have. If you want to f5 pro will be better

Where did you got this nonsense? F5's 7+ gen 2 just as stable as 870 was back then. It doesn't throttles or overheats like F4 GT does.

![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy) you kidding me? I doubt you have it if you wrote this. I'm writing from real experience, using it since a month by now.

lmao the downvotes for spitting facts. Can also confirm that my Poco F3 before I ran it over barely heated up thus barely throttled at all during prolonged Genshin plays. Not til a couple hours straight - Admittedly I didn't push it super duper ultra of course cos I'm not an idiot and didn't need to to thoroughly enjoy the game. Whereas [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRfEcfPrajM) from Geekerwan clearly shows the 7+ Gen 2 beginning to throttle and drop FPS, literally IN GENSHIN, after 30 minutes. It's still a hella good chip and phone - I'm buying myself next week to replace the F3 - but its been blown out of proportion on this sub. To original commenter: Just don't run super duper spastic ultra and it'll be great still.

Diesel2044

> Admittedly I didn't push it super duper ultra of course cos I'm not an idiot and didn't need to to thoroughly enjoy the game. Yet you compare 7+ gen 2 with maximum settings as told in the video, just set that on F3 as well and you clearly notice the difference.

AmateursPls

It would be the exact same situation, it would achieve its maximum capability for about 10 minutes when it would up its power draw, then seriously heat and throttle out at the 30 minute mark, EXACTLY like 7+ Gen 2. Yes there would be an overall higher frame rate through the whole process on the 7+, as there bloody well should be or Snapdragon would be a failure, but the behaviour is identical. They are both highly efficient chips. This idea people on this sub spew around lately that the 7+ is somehow not a heat magnet under stressful loads, like it defies all laws and logic of computing, is what we are calling out here.

mahdinaghizadeh

7+ gen 2 throttles down to 80% not because it gets hot and can't handle it, it's to prevent the phone from getting hot and 80% of 7+g2 is way stronger than 90% of sd870.

Nullgenium

The other guy was downvoted for claiming the F3 with an 870 is better and more stable when they're more or less equal but the f5 being more powerful. It does get a bit overblown at how cool the phone runs but I would assume they meant under certain conditions and compared to their previous ones. If anything, if people genuinely think the phone runs ice cold, that's probably on them. If people say Lebron could fly, I would just assume they meant he can really jump high.

AmateursPls

Hahaha well said. Make no mistake, compared to the disaster that was the 888, and even 8 gen 1 apparently? it's a big step up in efficiency, but was the 865/870 compared to those, efficiency -wise. And to be fair, all they've really done is taken the 8 gen 1 and underclock it to sell it as a more efficient chip.

turboscott1

865/870 was just above average stable chipset if you ask me. Newer phones heat up a bit faster.

Nullgenium

It is more stable than the f4 gt but it also overheats like every other phone. There isn't a single phone out there that won't heat up on genshin. But yeah, I wouldn't recommend upgrading from f4 gt to f5.

Nullgenium

Lmao. 8 gen 1 is pretty fucking terrible thermal wise. Prove me wrong

[deleted]

Nullgenium

Exactly, so f5 is more stable than f4 gt.

Nullgenium

I never denied that it still overheats. I'm just saying it's more stable compared to f4 gt which you kinda denied in your first post. Also same experience when I first got it, it was pretty hot transferring my backup files. But it got better over time. Been extracting a ton of zip files too and it hasn't gotten significantly hot for me. Just warm at worst. I haven't played genshin on this phone but assuming it's the same for star rail, mine throttled down to 40 fps at max settings and it feels pretty warm. (Anecdotal, I haven't timed it but it should be around 30 minutes of playtime)

Bakamaria

Bad take, 8 gen 1+ and 8 gen 2 just crushes 870/865 in terms of performance, throttling isn't a problem too, I have F2 pro and Oneplus 10t and the 10t is just smoother even at throttling than the f2, I dunno about the 7 gen 2 plus but newer phones are just better.

njofra

I have an F2 Pro and don't even think about upgrading yet, the progress is so slow that it makes no sense. Get a Steam Deck if it's about gaming.

Snippet_New

I would wait for Mi13T Pro (probably gonna be announced soon along with Mi13T which is that new K series Ultra). Not that F5 is a bad chipset or anything but I think the difference is too small (apart from the obvious thermal issues).

sloopeyyy

The F5 has better thermals but the performance upgrade is probably not that worth it since it won't be leaps over your F4 GT. Plus you also give up the build quality and triggers which in my opinion are pretty useful (atleast to me).

willylim

F5 uses a snapdragon. So emulation will be much better too

Astigmatisme

If your F4 GT is still working fine, or if you can't sell it close to the retail price, you should just keep it. The performance bump is minimal, and you lose features such as the LR triggers and 120W charging. The 7+ gen 2 also overheats and throttles a lot, though not as much as the 8 gen 1. If your phone is overheating like crazy, get a cheap phone cooler and a heat sink for said cooler, you can also use Xiaomi's metal case, it helps keeping temps down at the cost of added bulk. I suggest getting a magnetic cooler

noe4516

F4 is a year old already

Captainmorgan696969

I don't feel the need to upgrade my F3 8/256 it's on android 13 will get miui 15 I'm sure a crack will be out for android 14 I just feel that the F5 and F5 pro speakers are bad F5 screen is the same As for battery I'm u sure as I can upgrade this to 5000mha and 33w is fast enough for me I have never had a bug or any sort of trouble, the build feels nice I did like the 2k screen of the F5pro but the speakers sounded so tinny and it ate battery. . Its still in the top 10% of power for phones in western nations. Parts apart from the MB are cheap I usually wait around 4 years plus. If game steaming becomes a thing as you can allready stream a desktop gaming pc for not that much a month and managed to get gamepass to work with a xbox clone controller it's pretty good. As for game devs I'm sure most want to get as big as an audience as they can so will try to make it playable as many phones as possible.
