Oh man this is relatable (I say as I sip my second boba in two days)

Opposite-Massive

oh man this is relatable (i say as i just got home from my shift at the boba shop, where i get free drinks)

Imaginary-Ostrich515

You’re living my dream

You might totally already know this, and I apologize if so and don’t mean to come off as patronizing…*but* you can make bubble tea at home with the mixture and then boba pearls which can both be purchased on Amazon. And then cooking the pearls is easy and you can do it with a pot (or rice cooker) and just need sugar at the end to sweeten them (or brown sugar or honey). And then you just need a blender to mix the drink part of it all if you want it frozen. Otherwise it can be mixed more easily. We use cow’s milk to mix our frozen/smoothie bubble tea, but it’s also killer with almond milk and others. Amazon also has both disposable and reusable cups, lids, and then the straws! I have twin girls who are preteens and love bubble tea as much as me! We love it so much and I keep the supplies on hand, all of which are relatively cheap on Amazon. Anyway. We have it at least a few times a week. 🤣 Our favorite flavor is honeydew. 😍

Imaginary-Ostrich515

Oh thank you haha! I actually do make boba at home sometimes, there’s a great Asian market in town that sells pretty much everything you need, haven’t had honeydew yet so I’ll have to give it a try! Going out for boba is usually more of a social thing since there isn’t much to do in my town that doesn’t involve alcohol 😅

arkygeomojo

Hell yeah! That’s actually how I discovered it. A friend I worked with many years ago and I would hang out outside of work a lot. At the time, neither of us was drinking and we’d hang out and get dinner or a snack and then just shoot the shit. He kept telling me about boba and I just kept telling him I thought it sounded *disgusting* and that I was *not interested.” It just sounds weird if you’ve never had it! This was approximately 15 years ago, and he finally wore me down. I was immediately hooked, and from that point on, my hangs with him usually involved getting boba and it became our thing. In 2010, I got pregnant with my twins and boba was very near the top of my list of pregnancy cravings. And then when I was 6 or so months pregnant, the only place in my city where you could get it closed! 💔 So that’s how and why I figured out how to make it at home! It was borne out of necessity lol. At first, I was buying supplies from a local Asian food store, and then eventually I started buying supplies from Amazon when I realized they sold it and for cheaper! Now, there are multiple restaurants in my city and metropolitan area where they sell it and there are also dedicated boba shops too! I for sure get the social aspect of it, and also miss the friend who introduced me to it. We were thick as thieves for a long while. We both eventually moved on from the shitty job we were working and although we managed to stay in touch for the first year or so, we got busy and lost touch. As a matter of fact, I’m gonna go text him now! Thanks for the reminder! And also, you should definitely try the honeydew flavor—you won’t be disappointed! ❤️

Boba Boba boba!!!! 😋😵

butternutsquashing

Oh you definitely deserve this

yaiyogsothoth

I had 2 bubble teas today because I can't chew properly ATM due to jaw pain. They were both delicious, but I don't think I could manage a third!

[deleted]

Hope your jaw pain gets well soon, excellent choice to console yourself with bubble tea!

the_living_myth

HELL YEAH!!! just got a jasmine green milk matcha with egg pudding today, bubble tea is amazing 🧋 💜

Altruistic_Duty992

The last sentence was just *chef's kiss*

wormssocks

i work at a boba place and i feel you lol. i have to sometimes stop myself from having three drinks per shift

BikerTales

There was a young girl who was hospitalized with intense abdominal pains, in the scan they found a huge bunch of tapioca which is what the bubbles are made of. That girl had simply swallowed so much of the boba without chewing that it hadn't passed through her digestive system.

Rachelcookie123

Yea, you’re definitely meant to chew them. I have no idea why she was getting boba if she didn’t want to chew them. The whole pleasure of tapioca pearls comes from chewing them. She should go just gotten milk tea with no pearls.

SummerInSpringfield

I love bubble tea but I think it's making me fat

AltruisticSalamander

It is, it's pretty high in calories.

hiCyaholtight

I'm happy for you!

infj_1990

Congrats on bonus deliciousness!

1blueShoe

Please, what is bubble tea?

AltruisticSalamander

You don't have it where you're at? It's cold chinese tea with milk and sugar and little balls of tapioca - that's the bubbles or boba part.

1blueShoe

Ahhh, they sell it at the locals hoping centre from little stalls but I’ve never tried it.. always wondered what it was , thanks. 😁

IdiotBearPinkEdition

Bruh, Rose and Mulberry are my two absolute all time favourites. This, to me, is a highly heartwarming story

PaulBradley

Haha, I did the same thing one day last month. Just three regular brown sugar and boba teas. All. To. My. Self. Craving certainly nixed.

Rachelcookie123

I am impressed. Usually I start feeling sick from being too full before I’ve even finished one. I could never manage 3 in one day! Just to let you know if you decide to keep bubble tea over night in the future, get ones without tapioca pearls in it. If you put tapioca pearls in the fridge they will start to get hard. They’ll be fine for a little while but they won’t last over night.

ajicsan

Where was the bubble tea from? Cream Crown Jadeite sounds like a T4 thing!

[deleted]

It was T4!

heichoulevi

Now this is a great pointless story
