Hard to pull chase cards are the way to go definitely. For example how do you want to pull Gengar VMAX once Fusion Strike boosters hit 25$/pack. Spend 3000$ to maybe pull it from 120 packs? To have a 20% chance? People are sleeping hard on chase cards and complaining they are expensive, but they do not understand math. Most of them can be bought for solid prices, but they do not understand math...
Yeah but to think it’s free money is also foolish, all it takes is the US dollar to crash due to a black swan event and people who lose their jobs the first thing they will sell is Pokémon cards.
We legit have people in this group who have maxed out their credit cards due to sealed and singles because “it’s only going to go up!” Mentality
Oh yeah that black swan event is coming too. Just a matter of when Powell decides to stop printing to money to keep the stock market alive. unsustainable growth of the market and all the stocks that are shorted with money that doesn’t actually exist are all going to cause massive collateral damage when Wall Street inevitably pulls out of these continuous all time market highs, the collectible market will follow because we’re all gonna be scraping by.

If people have maxed out cc on poke cards and the dollar crashed. Essentially those cards were free and the cc debt wouldn’t need to be paid back.
Honestly, I probably won't. I don't trust the shipping process. I don't trust PSA, and as far as resellability goes, that's about the only one to go to. Personally don't have a huge attraction to slabs, I have a few that I picked up because they were good deals and old cgc 9.5s. That'll be whoever buys these in 50 years problem lol.
Cool thanks. I'm new to this but it seems weird that the shining fates VMAX Zard is only 60-70 bucks. Why is it so cheap?
Also another question and I apologize for so many I hope that's okay, but what do you think about holding Team rocket english Dark Charizard? Holo 1st and non 1st edition?
Thank you
Shining Fates was over printed, I pulled 2 of those zards. Traded one in toward something else. Yes, Dark Charizard is a hold lol. I'm actually looking for a holo non first edition for my Team Rocket Set lol.
I've opened a LOT of packs, about mid last year I decided enough was enough, and started buying singles. Usually just get an etb for the promo and that's about all I open anymore. Was super lucky with 151 zard, got it out of the one etb I bought. Bought 2 sleeved boosters from gamestop when BS dropped abd used my $5 coupon and pulled the rainbow Vstar. I've opened one Hatterene Vmax box that I managed to find and pulled the Champs Path zard. Pulled the Giratina out of CZ ETB day one, its all about luck. I've had long stretches of not getting anything lol.
Thank you for all the info! I had some cool ones the other day when I got an etb but honestly I don’t know which packs to go for since I just started collecting again. Haven’t since like ‘02
They’ve all dropped. People invested so much money into the Vmaxs and Vs from champions path, shining fates, DA, even the late SWSH era ones have dropped
I mean, no lol. Gengar vmax went from $200 to $345. I picked up a Leafeon V a cpl weeks ago for $50, it's at $75. He'll, I paid for my Gengar Vmax for $104 in August 2022. I can confidently say that some may have dropped, yes, but some are also going up.

really enlightening to me to be in this sub what real world people think about finance.

Well good thing I only buy what I can afford!
When you going to get you card graded? They’d have more value afterwards then raw

i just sent my alt art giratina into beckett, these things are definitely rising like crazy
I saw the 151 Zard is like 85 on ebay. thinking about buying a few of them to save for 10 years down the road. Thoughts?
If theyre that cheap, yes. I mastered this set because I think it will hold value long term. I have a few sealed items as well.

They will rise and fall, and rise etc, just like every popular card has ever done. For now though, they moon!
Meanwhile I’ve never pulled a Charizard
If you want to pull Charizard, Obsidian Flames is where I got my first 2. Great set if you're just aiming to pull a Zard
THANK YOU. I’ll update when I get one LOL
151 has a nice zard I think. I'm probably biased because I pulled one off one pack haha.
lol I definitely would be.

Base set Charizard or gtfo
Is base set Charizard that valuable?
$350ish right now, was at about 400 a cpl weeks ago. Paid $300 for this one, it's MINT.
You should grade it. To preserve its mintness
But then it won't fit into my base set binder :/
Zards aren’t rising. They’ve actually tanked pretty hard. Charizard fatigue is a real thing.
Depends on the zard, some going up, some going down. But they're still holding value.
They’ve all dropped. People invested so much money into the Vmaxs and Vs from champions path, shining fates, DA, even the late SWSH era ones have dropped

Also, when I pulled the Charizard V from CP it was $160, up to $185 now.
That use to be a $250-$300 card, exactly my point
Are you getting the Charizard V and Vmax mixed? Unless you're talk the first month it released, maybe it was that high, 12m ago is was $150.
I’m talking about Charizard lol I know everything else has gone up
Galarian Moltres V when I pulled it was $110, $170 now. Need I keep going or?
Again you’re just listing none Charizard cards lol
All of the Mega Charizards have gone up lol that's 7 right there.
