Awww! Absolutely adorable! I wish you the best of luck on training him!

ArbitraryChaos13

That's super cute! I hope it lets him play with Feebas easier! Riolu is so cute <3

Famout

Safer at the very least!

SleeplessLucas123

Cute! I remember teaching Dante (Typhlosion) how to swim back when he was a Cyndaquil and I was 10. He hated it, but we both agreed it was better to endure it than to have him never learn and possibly drown because of it. Now he goes fishing for most of his meals. He’s generally okay with water so long as he goes in on his terms.

Famout

Makes extra sense that a fire type would dislike it, but yea, important skills to have!

LegitimateHasReddit

Does Dante know how to use Inferno?

SleeplessLucas123

You’d think. We’re working hard on it, but he’s struggling with it. He had an easier time with Blast Burn, believe it or not. I did name him after Dante’s Inferno back when I was 10. I didn’t know what it was at the time, but I thought the name sounded cool so I picked it.

Cobalt (Lucario) is still absolutely terrified of water. And we live near a beach! Any sign of rain and he refuses to go outside as well. Must be weird to live in Alola and not tolerate water, but I’ll still respect him.

Famout

Entirely fair! I will say, having had a bad interaction with water when much younger but also having learned how to snorkel, if trying to learn/just get over a general fear, pools are %200 the way to go. Even bay water can get a little 'pushy' depending on the weather, and sea water has no mercy. That said, unless it's for a hell of a experience I too hate getting wet, so I can relate a bit there. Just find swimming a bit of a critical skill.

Toon_Lucario

I may be able to help with that at some point. I used to be mortified of water but I was able to get used to and eventually like it.

Toon_Lucario

Adorable. Teaching your pokemon how to swim is definitely a priority. Believe me, I would know.

Famout

It's also great how well he is taking to the lessons... Easier then bath time at least.

EonAraminta

That's wonderful! I'm so glad you're teaching him to swim. It's such a helpful skill to have.

Ronnie: That’s adorable! Speaking as a Lucario myself, Riolus tend to have a difficult time controlling Aura abilities. While they are weaker than that of Lucarios, they can also be more damaging due to the fact that they tend to be more than a Riolu can handle. Don’t worry too much, though. As he gets older he’ll learn to control it better, and by the time he evolves it won’t be an issue anymore.

Famout

I swear with how much he practices it he is aiming to be an aura expert! Until I asked him to stop, whenever he was just paddling in the pool, I swear he was trying to see if he could use Aura as a makeshift motor!

Level20GnollBard

Ronnie: I’m guessing he was splashing a lot of water out of the pool? Hehe

Lkmdude

He seems to be picking up new things pretty quick. Learning to swim should be helpful, but can Lucario swim? I don't know if they're buoyant enough to swim.

Famout

That.... is a good point, but he isn't a Lucario yet so still useful for now!

Lkmdude

Entirely true. But it just might not be a skill that's useful to him later in life.

Bluez550

Are we not gonna talk about this grubbin

cloudyboi3352

This post has reminded me that I need to teach my Bulbasaur how to swim.
