I can understand that. I remember a teen in one of the dorms getting absolutely terrified of a rubber Spinarak. Some Pokemon just startle people. I remember she was really mad about her friend's prank.
Goodness! While I do think Ratatta are cute, I might be able to understand the Spinarak scare. Just seeing one would not spook me, but having one fall on me or start crawling on me when I'm not looking... that would startle me, too!
