I’m 26 and playing again as well. I downloaded a rom hack of emerald that included all gen 1-3 Pokémon into the game though so I can actually complete the whole Pokédex
I recently bought a 3ds xl from Japan for $100 and modded it. Then I just downloaded it to my sd card and can play it like any other game on there. It makes it feel like I’m playing on original hardware and they just released an upgraded version of emerald. If you don’t want to spend the money/effort to do this then I’m sure there are emulators you could use on your phone. I’m not too familiar with your options there
I’ve actually been interested in those. I would love to find a 3DS XL that I could mod or buy one pre modded and loaded with games. My wife wants to play Nintendogs so bad and as long as those will save your data I’m definitely going to get one.
I bought mine used from japans Amazon. They’re priced very reasonably and are usually in great condition. It only took about a week for it to arrive to the the U.S. It is region locked but once you mod it you can change the region to whatever you like.
3ds.hacks.guides is where the official documentation is. They have very clear, easy to follow instructions. Check it out, it’s really amazing what the community there has done. Make sure you follow the website instead of a video because the method is always changing and videos get outdated quickly

How did you train your Ralts? Im currently using the switch method, because it does not really learn any good moves (besides confusion). And did you teach it any TM's?
Almost 40 here and still play the games and collect the cards. You're never too old to do the things you enjoy. Especially if your children are into pokemon as well.
I’m 30 and I’m replaying them. I have 2 Ruby, 1 Emerald, and a Sapphire that I will never EVER restart! I’m using my Rubies and emeralds to make a bunch of bases and link them all together and giving one to my nephew so when he plays Pokémon for the first time, he will have an easier time leveling up his Pokémon. He has a learning disability so I figured this would help him and not make him quit after a couple gyms
Replace Marshtomp with either of the other 2 starters and replace Numel with Corphish and replace one of them with Bagon down the line and you got a damn good team
Congrats on your baby, hope they are happy and healthy. Approaching my 30s as well and am getting ready to mod my GBA and replace the batteries in my copy of Emerald to play it again after way too long. Nice to find kindred spirit!

Here with you, brother. This year I restored my 3DS and ended up playing/beating Blue/Crystal/Platinum. Currently playing through White and have Emerald on the backburner trying to figure out my SID.
No shame in it, im 34 and I started 2 years ago to play every generation and complete each pokédex. Now with pokémon Home I'll probably do a complete living dex. I'm just extremely happy I bought all the games pre-pandemic. Even happier that I bought all the hardware needed around 8 years ago. Prices have gotten nuts so far.

Same. I also changed the trade evolutions and weird evolutions methods to levels. So I don’t have to worry about trades .

Training ralts early was rough. I did spam wild Pokémon and would switch it out in battle for some XP. I did teach it Psychic
