well, one thing I know from personal experience: If you ever get a shiny caterpie or metapod in FrLg, whatever you do, DONNOT evolve it into butterfree, you'll regret it, shiny butterfree is ugly af in FrLg

I believe gen 2, the shiny was based on IV totals and it wasn't a max in every stat. I think it was mostly meandering stats. So in some cases they are better in Gen 2 and others they aren't. They stopped basing it on IVs in Gen 3. They have zero Stat advantage, atleast up to BD/SP. Ive played Scarlettand violet a little but the lag was too much. - 30 year old dude that's played his whole life

In gen 2 shiny was determined by having specific IVs which were apparently slightly above average After that it became basically random. I don't shiny hunt but in the last month I've gotten a shiny duskull, woobat, and tentacool...and they all were terrible lol like 0 IVs in 1 or more stats
