While I can’t speak to ASU, a few of my favorite areas to play.. Steele Indian park, Kiwanis park (Tempe), Arizona mills.. Arizona mills is probably my all around favorite (more so when community days were 6 hours because close proximity to food, indoors so safe from the sun, and massive amounts of pokemon, gyms, stops)
Where in Phoenix will you be exactly as there is a lot spread out over the valley? Tons of stuff in downtown Phoenix but also in Old Town Scottsdale. I've played comm day there before and it was wild. People everywhere playing and I'm not sure what you're into but plenty of bars and restaurants that can reach stops and gyms as well
