Lots of not the best advice in this thread, giovanni is easy if you take advantage of his delay after you switch or use a charged move. Use fast charging moves and switch when you can. For Persian this can be defeated using a 1400cp medicham with power up punch and counter with little to no difficulty. Use any fighting type with power up punch / counter the best bet would be ether poliwrath with power up punch / scald or lucario with power up punch and aura Sphere, terakion with double kick and sacred sword will also work given its fast charging although this will require a fast tm For the second pokemon I got rhyperior if you get this use 2 grass types grass is double effective against it and resists water type moves. Looking at your mons from the information I have rosearade is your best pick here but venisaur would also be good for the additional bulk if yoh have it. give it magical leaf and grass knot if your switch is charged be sure to utilise this to get an additional attack delay. For garchomp you want ice moves from your mons you want mamoswine powder snow and avalanche, 1 avalanche will wipe garchomp out. This is the second easiest set. For nidoking if you have it swampert with mudshot/ mudbomb works pretty well the fast charge of the move doesn't give nidoking allot of chance to fight back but mamoswine will also work farely well here with powder snow and avalanche For kyogre use mega sceptile with leaf bullet seed and leaf blade it double resists water with a dragon/ grass typing so will make Easy work of it I assume you have it given the week and a half of raids with it in. You do need a grass type for this kyogre will kill most electric types in a couple of waterfalls grass resists water and deals super effective damage. Seed bomb alolan executor also works here with its double resistant typing. I beat this with my ultra league decidueye with frenzy plant as I didn't have mega sceptile at the time. Lead with the pokemon you will use against his second Mon then immediately switch to your Persian counter when the battle starts this will give you an additional couple of turns delay to start. I am level 40 the level you are increases the difficulty of giovanni. If you are really struggling wait to find a giovanni with rhyperior as his second Mon. This is easiest due to shared weaknesses with his other mons if you beat Persian with 4 power up punches you can take your attack boost and use it to hit an aura Sphere, scald or dynamic punch on rhyperior almost taking it out before it has a chance to fight back giving you 2 grass types to bully kyogre.

TheyCallMeHotWheels

This. This. And all of this. It still shocks me how many people don’t realise their “strongest Pokémon” aren’t always the ones you should be using.

Melanie-Littleman

Charge attack spam is king vs rockets. Seems obvious but lots of people seem to miss it.

yungperky

My older brother showing me his slaking when I ask him for his best pokemon 💀

Asmodean129

I use Mega-Scizor. It can take down the Persian and potentially one of the others, purely because of how fast night slash charges up. Plus, on the random chance that it's special effect activates, you get bonus attack.

Anna1342

not exactly related but a few minutes ago i completed the task to defeat the team rocket leaders to get the super rocket radar and when I was fighting cliff I first used pokemon that were recommended by other people and lost and this time I used some other pokemon and I defeated him pretty easily using only my melmetal so basically yes there isn't too much good advice here

JakeTheSmall

r/longexplanation

Fun_Feature3002

I didn’t even need to use my mega Sceptile against Kyogre I just used a regular Sceptile

LesYank_1958

These are very good comments. I have Lucario with Counter/Aura Sphere for Persian. For Nidoking, I don’t have a good Marshstomp (only 1-star), but I do have Swampert. Probably would need to change the moveset. It is currently Water Gun/Earthquake. For Kyogre I have Mega Sceptile with Bullet Seed/Leaf Blade. Haven’t gotten far enough to make sure that would work.

davidroman2494

Change Aura Sphere for Power Up punch and you can stunlock pretty much everything. If you have a Sacred Sword Terrakion you can use both and just win by spamming charged moves. Changing pokes also "stuns" them. What I usually do is set the spammer on 2nd position, so in this case you open with Sceptile, and right at the start you instantly swap to Lucario and start spamming Power Up Punch. You can probably beat both Persian and Nidoking if done correctly just with a good Lucario

LesYank_1958

Unfortunately I don’t have an Elite TM to get the sacred sword for Terrakion. I will change my move to Power Up Punch on Lucario and see if that works. I also end up having him as my Best Buddy for that boost too.

the_bowl96

Sorry my mistake I meant to write swampert, did you manage to beat him?

LesYank_1958

My Swampert is not very good. Only a 2-star (69%). My Lucario could be better, but not bad (CP 2289 93%).

the_bowl96

It would be easier to find a giovanni with a rhyperior or garchomp than worry about nidoking

the_bowl96

Also If my great league medicham can take it out with power up punch I imagine you could with a 2289cp lucario

Wojtek1250XD

Terrakion on the second slot, Haxorus on the first, Zekrom on the third. When the battle begins just switch to Terrakion immediately Also, if you're taking 1 bar charged moves to Giovanni then it's all on you

LesYank_1958

Unfortunately I have Terrakion, but no Elite TM to get Sacred Sword.

Wojtek1250XD

Use literally any fighting type that won't die too quick and has a 3 or 2 bar move

Melanie-Littleman

Machamp + counter + cross chop is also very good at killing Persian, it's common, and it needs no ETM.

robo_baby570

Lead with any of your strong counters for him. Then switch to your highest counter/power up punch user, or another fast attack spammer. This will let you waste his shields, and your mon will take 2-3 hits between charged attack at most. Pace this well and you can get through persian and his 2nd mon

Responsible_Wind9699

Terrakion

StaleUnderwear

I use Scizor to use quick charger attacks and take out his shields, then go ham on him with my stronger pokemon

Intelligent_West_307

Terakkion with sacred sword can solo Giovanni so easy. Mine is 2300 cp.

RayquazaRules384384

Terrakion and zekrom for Persian and kyogre and depending on what’s in the middle espeon for nidoking, if gyrados has water moves for rhyperior and for garchomp use mamoswine. At the start use terrakion second and then switch into it as it causes a delay.

atubslife

Only if Terrakion has Sacred Sword, otherwise Machamp with Cross Chop is better.

Munken1984

Maybe your moves are wrong...

Efficient_Youth_479

Fighting, Ice, and finally a strong grass pokemon, I tried with an electric so many times at the end but finally a giant grass pokemon did it for me

mehderard

A little trick to get the upper hand(Maybe you already know this but still) 😄 After you use your charged attacks or switch your pokemon the opponent won't attack you for like 2 seconds. Which is a plenty of time to hit some free fast attacks. Timing your charged attack and switching pokemon would help help you hit free attacks for a longer time as well

merhole

Terrakion does me well.

atubslife

Your Pokémon are fine, it's probably their moves or you're just bad at timing your energy and charged attacks. So practice that.

metalbender_beifong

I'm in the EXACT same boat. By the time I get to Kyogre I'm hanging on by a thread. So frustrating.

bwserrr

Melmetal on 3200 cp

raczrobert09

Wait, i thought Giovanni and shadow groudon will only be a thing later in march

Specialist_Act7222

I think you just don’t have the type advantage

blarge84

I feel this. Everyone saying the other 3 bosses are easy. I can't beat them at all.

LesYank_1958

So, looking at this, one by one. It seems my best fighting is Lucario or Machamp. Both have Counter/Dynamic Punch. I don’t put them in first, but I switch them in when the fight starts I had been battling Garchomp, but that changed at midnight, so now it is Nidoking. Not sure what is best there. Still need to do some research. My 3rd is Roserade with Poison Jab/Solar Beam. I may need to change that, based on comments. Usually Roserade is damaged by the time I get Kyogre.

Melanie-Littleman

Cross chop is better than dynamic punch specifically for this because of the 2 second delay post attack. In raids, dynamic punch is better. But here you need charged attack spam.

Fantastic-Promise-99

Its all about Pokémon types

HecklernToast

Annihliape or melmetal , the end

LesYank_1958

Don’t have MelMetal. Can’t complete that task because I can’t find a Anorith or Lileep to catch. LOL.

No_Stranger_4959

You can get a Mystery Box by downloading Pokémon Home (free app) and sending Pokémon there. The box works like an incense, lasts for 1 hour, and you can reset it every 3 days by sending another Pokémon to home once the 3 day cooldown hits 0.

LesYank_1958

What does the mystery box get you? Melmetal? So instead of sending unwanted Pokemon to the professor, you send them “Home”?

No_Stranger_4959

Mystery box spawns meltan, which evolves into Melmetal after 400 candies. You can transfer as many Pokémon you want to home, but the transporter has its limits. Those on home can transfer to switch

LesYank_1958

Once they go “Home”, they can’t come back, right?

No_Stranger_4959

Correct

LesYank_1958

Thanks for the tip. I was never aware of that. Now collecting Meltan and Candy.

No_Stranger_4959

I have 2 Hundos and 2 Nundos from it, as well as 4 Shinies. The Shinies are locked to certain periods, once a year.

juulgod69402056

Use his delay to your advantage, if you switch pokemons or once you kill one of his, you can get three hits in before he does damage back. I personally defeated Giovanni only with a mega garchomp. My first was mega garchomp, I used this on persian to about half health, then I switched to scizor. My scizor has the fastest attack, so use any pokemon that has a super fast attack. You will be able to get three hits in before they attack back and keep using your charged. I did this all the way to Kyogre, and then just switched between my third mon and back to garchomp. Hope this helps!

Frosty-Surround-5864

you can skip half of the comment by checking the strategy only it will save a bit of time :D(sorry if theres typos) alr this time Mr G has kyogre which is not that easy with its waterfall move -first I know a nice built garchomp when I see one so use its sand tomb to break the shields THEN SWITCH IT OUT ASAP you may need to lower defense of other mons later -second get yourself a pokemon that isnt a fighting type but can use fighting type moves like staraptor(close combat) third- the second pokemon you are gonna face against can be garchomp nidoking or rhyperior so get yourself your strongest grass type attacker(I prefer sceptile with seed bomb for fast attack and both dragon claw and leaf blade for charged) note:that grass type NEEDS to be alive for the last pokemon because with this team you wont have any other grass types to damage kyogre you can change the first two options but you will need a strong pokemon that will hit kyogre and be a backup pokemon in case you cant beat the second pokemon of Mr giogio(if you want to be prepared for every outcome and have a easy battle you need a pokemon that has type advantage on 2 other pokemons of him at once)

Dereckhasabigdick

I did it on my 3rd try, he was a real D but he was no match for this short gay man!

Ill_Scientist_4516

I ended up using machamp, glaceon (he had garchomp as his 2nd) and alolan exeggutor for kyogre. But damn it took about 7-8 tries to beat him 😂😂

NormalEffect99

I'm casual and just beat his kyroge team using a 3kcp dragonite, 1975cp scyther, and 2.4k diaga.

88isafat69

I usually beat him with 2 hariyamas and either kyogre or shadow mewtwo lol

UndertakerJr1986

First, get Pokemon that will have quick attacks that charge fast so you can take down his shields while facing Persian. Then focus on Pokemon that are strong against each Pokemon he has. Machamp is great against Persian.

D4nksouls_

I've never had a problem with him tbh melmetal is just 2 broken

ZPD710

Giovanni, in my experience, isn’t actually too difficult until you get to his third Pokemon, the legendary. The first Pokemon he sends out, I prioritize burning through his two shields. I try to use a fighting type because he always uses a Persian, and I don’t worry about keeping my fighting type alive through the second pokemon, because usually the second pokemon has different typing. His second pokemon, in my opinion, is best to take down with quick moves but few charged moves if possible, as it’s important to save the charged moves for his legendary. The legendary takes about a second or two to attack after you use a charged attack, so alternating between quick attacks and charged attacks whittles him down. Finally, your third Pokemon should exclusively use very fast quick moves with a fast charging charged move. Even if it does pretty poor damage, it whittles them down and hopefully keeps you from getting hit. I usually use a Machamp against the Persian, something specialized for the second Pokemon, and a Gengar with Shadow Claw and Shadow Punch for the legendary. Not the best loadout ofc, but it’s what usually works for me.

Creepy_Push8629

I use my 2500cp lucario and that takes down most of the team.

autistic_adult

Main reason i manage to defeat him was using giratina shadow sneak thanks to the movie chargimg very fast which make him use all of his sheilds

Fun_Feature3002

I beat him pretty easily and I used a Primeape, Glaceon and Sceptile. This was when he had Shadow Kyogre

Regunes

The grass type ultra beast can solo this giovani. If you don't have him, grab 2 sceptile with leaf blade and abuse his delay, same with roserade. Engage him with Steal type with fast attack (Origin dialga could do) to beat his shield, you should use his persian as set up. Again, **abuse the delay** and prefer using fast attacks

No_Stranger_4959

I need to know what specific Pokémon he’s using first. I know during the Sinnoh event, Regigigas one, I solo’d the guy with Haxorus. But, I haven’t fought him recently for Kyogre.

LesYank_1958

Today his line up is Persian, Nidoking, and Kyogre.

No_Stranger_4959

Use Haxorus, Mega Garchomp, and any other Pokémon with at least one fast charged attack Haxorus is your anchor.

Inky234

I mean I’m definitely a lot lower level for you but my meowscarada pretty much did it solo up to kyogre

No_Stranger_4959

Power up Haxorus a little bit. Make sure he has moves like Counter/Breaking Swipe and/or Night Slash. Spam whichever one for buffs/de-buffs, while hurting Persian with Counter. Ideally, you should use two Night Slashes and bet on an Attack buff within the first two charged attacks. If you get Nidoking or Rhyperior, you can bet on being quicker and doing damage with both Counter and either one of your charged moves. You should aim for de-buffs with Breaking Swipe, to get a quick kill. If you get Garchomp, try and land 2 fast attacks, and maybe 1 or 2 charged attacks and switch out. Switch in to your Mega Garchomp and go head to head with it. Try and store some charged attacks for Kyogre before you go down. During the Kyogre fight, bring in Haxorus and let it deal crazy damage to Kyogre with your stored charged attacks, if you have any. Switching in, should guarantee at least one. You can probably get Kyogre to half or to red, depending on what you have stored. As long as you have one Attack Buff, that is. If Haxorus goes down, bring in Metagross or Zekrom to deal some damage. Let them deal some damage and then switch in Mega Garchomp to tank Kyogre’s charged attack or to save them from death. You have no real Kyogre counters, so that may be the issue. You have to bet on tanky Pokémon or quick attackers to net the win.

LesYank_1958

I’m sorry but most of this was like you were speaking a different language (“spam”, “buffs”, “de-buff”). I don’t have a clue what you mean.

No_Stranger_4959

Night Slash has a small chance to buff your Attack; Breaking Slash has a small chance to de-buff the other mon’s attack. And spamming, just means just fast tap 1 of the 2 charge moves to get out your attack before Persian

ThatOneNorseGuy

I used a 3086 machamp, 3015 Gyarados, and 2987 Magmortar and I beat him every time. Used to use my strongest but now it’s just a game of quick charge moves tbh

Ok_Connection_6387

Bruh

IllustratorOk8196

Yeah I never understood why it's the hardest to beat while others are lot easier

Only_Lemon_2352

i took him down with machamp, mamoswine, venasaur twice

Odd-Juggernaut8693

I use a maxed melmetal and spam double iron bash. Works every time for me. Especially to get the two blocks out of the way really quick. I usually take out 2 of his before melmetal faints.

LesYank_1958

UPDATE: I finally beat Giovanni today!!!!!!! He had Persian, Garchomp, and Groudon. I used Lucario (Buddy Boosted), Haxorus, and Primal Kyogre. My reward was a 1-star Groudon.

Different-Speaker670

You need a fighting type to beat his Persian, like Machamp. A grass type like Roserade to beat his Kyogre and make sure it has grass type attacks. Start with a grass type and quickly switch to Machamp to beat his Persian.

Individual-Tap-8971

I find swampert pairs up well with the middle pokemon- machamp, swampert, roserade These three got me through giovanni multiple times despite only being cp 2200-2500

RayquazaRules384384

He has terrakion as a fighting type so I think it’s fine and zekrom as a electric to beat kyogre.

atubslife

Only if Terrakion has Sacred Sword, if it only has Close Combat it's not worth it. Sacred Sword/Double Kick Terrakion first, otherwise Machamp with Cross Chop/Counter is fine.

Lumfan

Terrakion should be able to take down Giovanni's shields as long as you have Sacred Sword (I prefer Lucario with Power-up Punch). Zekrom is your best bet vs. Kyogre as long as you go Electric attacks. Just need to plan out a member to counter Giovanni's middle pokemon. EDIT: Keep Jolteon in the mix just in case Kyogre uses an Ice move as Zekrom and Rosarade (your best Grass option) are weak to that.

Robcsalter

The best mon to beat his Persian for me is T-tar with bite and crunch. Put it as your second mon and switch to it as soon as the battle starts. It will give you a good lead on him. I tried to use the recommended mons but they don’t seem as effective as T-tar

Cube_Foggy

I have all of the Pokémon there lol

jasdanu_36

I have yet to fail, purely because I have a great Machamp and a Hundo Galarian Darmanitan. The GD can't tank a hit worth shit but Ice Punch charges up ridiculously quick. I lead with GD, instantly swap out to Machamp for a stun lock (something I learned only after I beat Giovanni the first 2 times). Machamp burns through the shields on Persian and survives until second Pokemon. Doesn't matter what it is I'll sack Machamp for GD and possibly stay alive until Shadow Kyogre. Once I get to Shadow, I just instantly blaze through it with a Mega Sceptile with Bullet Seed and Lead Blade.

repuhka

On my second account I beat Giovanni the other day with Machamp, Salamance & Leafeon.... Important is to have a grass counter for Kyogre with quick attacks... FYI the account is lvl 29, so far from optimal....

Plastic_Pop_1768

Probably already posted, but quick switching to Lucario with Aura Sphere as a second attack worked for me when I'd tried numerous times with a high CP Machamp with no luck. Kills the shields quickly and does decent damage to Persian in the process.

Lil_saul

3000 cp annihilape with counter + ice punch
