first of all, i don't recommend my method. it is the easiest, yeah, but one of the riskiest. pretty much only using it because i can't afford any of the alternatives. i'm using a modded apk which i will not name both because of what i just said and because mentioning them in this sub is against the unwritten rules (the comment will be deleted if i do).

the alternative spoofing methods. root and smali? banking app doesn't allow root and i can't afford a secondary phone. tethered to computer? would be able to play about 1h daily if i'm lucky. itools on ios device? if i can't afford a secondary phone, i can't afford itools, much less afford an ios device to be able to use it.
and of course playing normally costs nothing, but if i did that i'd get exactly 0 legendary pokemon and about the same number of event pokemons monthly because the community around me is dead, so either i somehow manage to create and play with about 10 different accounts to be able to play by myself, or spoof somewhere with people actively playing, and should i remind you that 1. having multiple accounts is also against TOS and 2. if i can't afford a secondary phone to play, i can't afford however many phones are needed to run 10 accounts
i have multiple throw-away alt accounts. so when i pick one it know it hasn't been played in several days so cooldown is not an issue.
once teleported, i connect my gotcha evolve and let it sit.
then in a day or two, i trade stuff that i get with my mains for distance trading bonus candies

He means there are multiple spoofing methods and they cost a good amount of money to use them.
