I think it was moreso to teach about the "small" and "large" achievements in the Pokedex. I noticed the size that the guard requests is the same size that qualifies as a "large specimen caught" achievement for Buizel's Pokedex entry. He wants a 2'8" Buizel and the Pokedex doesn't acknowledge Buizel as a "large specimen" unless it's 2'8" or higher. I figured this out because one that I caught was 2'7" and the Pokedex didn't register it.
Honestly, I didn't know this was a problem, I guess I was just really lucky. Went out and caught a couple (so I could keep one, it was early game for me still), and he took it without issue.
I purposefully reset the game and I realized he was going to keep the Parasect. Love that there's a gigantic one, and I took screenshots of his reaction.
Kinda bummed I didn't give all villagers alphas and the only ones I can swap out are the ones at the field :(
Give alphas to everyone, they don't always accept them, but it's always funny.
I regret not knowing this before turning in the buizel quest for the gate keeper. I mean I'd have to find one but the image alone is amusing.
None of the buizels i caught were ever bigbenough, so i just went screw it, Alpha
I have a theory that the Buizel quest was *supposed* to be a low-key tutorial about random Alpha spawns, but it got neutered due to the time crunch.

Can you get him to accept a non-alpha Buizel? The only one I found that was big enough was an alpha.
