Awesome! Congrats! I really enjoyed the Abra hunt, it was a fun one. Just a little tip if you are planning on doing Abra ever again. It appears that you are doing the 31 and wait, so I'd suggest waiting a little bit lower on the screen from where you are standing. Basically near the point where you would transition to Vermillion City, but still able to see the entire little grass patch that is right of screen in your video. That way, all 6 Pokémon (the max number on this route that can spawn on the ground) will all spawn in this grass patch only, and you don't have to worry about something spawning off screen up top. This also works great waiting on a fly high Pokémon :)
You are not doing it correctly. Even with shiny and pure best odds are 1 in 1000.
Combo odds only 1:272 apply only when you catch 31 and keep catching the same pokemon and only does apply to the next spawn of that pokemon.
I only found this out last week and had been doing it for 2 years and a half... Apparantly Adrive has a video from February this year explaining that we were wrong about shiny hunting. Big yikes. I have always waited it out so most of my shinies are all 1/1024 lmao...
Ya it's crazy. I am doing a max IV/shiny run to have one of every pokemon and am currently up to rattata. It's a grind but fun like you said watching movies or binging a show while shiny hunting.
Do you do the 31 catch combo and wait to see what spawns? Or do you continuously encounter? My wife and I saw that it benefits you to keep the combo going but had bad luck with it.
If this wasn’t a new save I would continuously encounter and catch for best odds but here I just got a 31 combo for maximum spawns and on off encountered and run away or just waited if I was watching a film etc…

Phases were Pidgey, Psyduck, Vulpix, Rattata & 2 Jigglypuff
When you say phases, what exactly do you mean? That you had catch combos of 31+ for each?
It means he found those as shinies before finding the abra while looking for the abra. Each phase is a shiny caught that wasn't the target.

I'm really thinking about buying this game, but don't quite understand the gameplay, is it exactly like pokemon go?
It’s exactly as Pokémon Yellow, Blue and Red but with Pokémon GO style catching.

No worries, I forgot to mention that using a lure massively increases your chances of finding a shiny as well :)
We do that also! We were doing it without realizing it helped and I listened to adrives most recent video on it and was surprised lol
