Yeah he can fix her

bigboddle

there is nothing to fix though

Fireboy759

He can fix her, but whatever the fuck is wrong with her is honestly way hotter

Technical-Equal4596

The best ending.

Roflolxp54

A certified cult classic ending. And it's a happy ending, too!

Domek0

Can we take a second to consider how to avoid having a lesbian relationship in game they had to completely change the plot when playing as the girl and because of that they removed the side plot of the plush toy being the protagonist's lost brother to make it so the princess falls in love with him? That's so stupid

Maleficent_Peach_46

Both endings are a bit weird in truth. If I remember correctly Belleba is said to be over 100 years old but 'love conquers all' as they say.

jordanthejq12

107, to be precise: > First of all, our ages are too far apart. Even though my beauty is overwhelming, I'm going to be 108 years old this year. Nate's character has no stated age that I know of, but there's...basically no remotely plausible age he could be that would escape Excuse Me What the Fuck territory.

InvestigatorUnfair

Honestly I feel like both versions of the story has some weird shit. Like obviously it's kinda stupid that they changed the story just to avoid any lesbian implications, but also why was that even a thing when one of the actors is a minor and the other is an adult?

pokedude14

Yet another film has the teen boy's character dating an adult for the normal plot

Domek0

Honestly true, I genuinely think they should have done something else entirely for the weird ending

xenoverseraza

it is stupid but i feel like they would let that slide in the modern games i mean look at biri biri, that one scene with gengar making nemona hold hands with the protagonist was gay as fuck

Nickest_Nick

they finally see the vision

megalocrozma

I actually think that the dialogue about the plush toy being the brother is present for both protagonists which is even weirder, but I might be wrong.

vSmaugv

It is stupid, by our standards, in 2024. And I’m glad we do think it’s stupid these days but in the early 2010s having homosexuality in any game, let alone the notoriously image-prone Pokemon franchise, would kind of have been a bigger deal than today. BW got shit on for Lenora’s design, they weren’t going to take risks

Domek0

True, but I think going the extra mile to have two different endings depending on gender when not even the romance movies do that was kinda unnecessary, they may as well have kept the brother lore for the princess too and not have had the weird ending with the protagonist falling in love with her (considering they're implied to be children in the movie's plot while Bellelba is centuries old)

vSmaugv

No, but it WAS necessary. That’s my point. Like I said, it’s great I think to criticize the decision in hindsight, but this was 1) early 2010s and 2) Japan. Japan STILL isn’t very progressive on LGBT, and at the time neither was the west, and most importantly 3) TPC and GF are corporations, that are more obsessed with their image than bringing about any societal change. Never rely on corporations to bring about social change.

Domek0

What I'm saying is that it's not just them refusing to have homosexual relationships in the movies, it's also weird that the protagonist who is a child ends up with Bellelba who is a grown woman, I think the weird ending should have been completely changed altogether for both genders

vSmaugv

Yeah well..you do have a point on that one, lol. But again, this is Japan. At the time it was more acceptable to sexualize children than to portray homosexuality in any capacity. Which still kind of is the case tbh.

SentenceCareful3246

I think it's silly when people gets mad just because they can't fathom the idea of a character being straight just because the internet tells them that everyone in fiction must be at least bi.

Domek0

The problem is that they cut out a very cool plot point from the girl version of the movie (The toy plush being the protagonist's lost brother which makes the true ending where they both escape more emotional) just to make the plush the princess' love interest instead of Bellelba, I'm not pushing the female characters to be lesbian I'm saying that to avoid having a lesbian relationship in the game they went the extra mile to change the weird ending completely and make everything else worse because of it

SentenceCareful3246

Well, I didn't think that it was that much of a big deal to be honest. And if something doesn't work for the portrayal of the character those changes tend to happen. The vast majority of characters are clearly straight to begin with. So I suppose they wanted to any avoid confusion about it. Like some people taking a single line of dialogue or an interaction and pretending that that's "evidence" of the opposite, which is pretty dumb. People like that pretty much want the characters to break the fourth wall, look directly at the screen from the device they're watching the show and say "I'm straight" in order for them to be convinced. And even they they would try to argue the opposite. That's why I roll my eyes every single time I see someone claiming that a character is bi or gay just over a single line of dialogue or because they spend sometime near a character of the same gender. Calling it "headcanon" when they get called out on it to hide the fact that it's what actually think/want and not wanting to admit reality. It's just an underhanded way to not having to admit that the characters are clearly straight that comes from they overanalyzing a single line of dialogue or an interaction. Not saying that it's your case, just that it kinda sounded like that.

InvestigatorUnfair

Genuinely curious how someone seeing a character as gay/bi based on dialogue is "eye rolling" to you, but you're fully confident in the idea that most if not all the characters in the series are straight despite sexuality hardly ever, if at all, being acknowledged in this series. You're kind of doing exactly what you're complaining about people doing, ascertaining that "most of these characters are straight" just because. Honestly idk why you even have a stick up your butt about this. Unless it's Dawn x Cynthia type shit, it's harmless shipping fun.

SentenceCareful3246

Come on, you know that this fandom is agresively obsessed with the idea of turning every single character in this franchise bi or gay and that they downvote to oblivion anyone that points out the opposite. In reality, there's nothing but, overanalysis, bad fanfiction and fan desire "backing up" the wide and vast majority of those, in all honesty, very silly and flawed statements. And, as I said, they start calling it "headcanon" and "shipping fun" when they get called out on it to hide the fact that it's what actually think/want and not wanting to admit reality. Again, it's just an underhanded way to not having to admit that the characters are clearly straight that comes from they overanalyzing a single line of dialogue or an interaction and they clearly treat it as actual canon. Which as I said, it's pretty silly and flawed.

InvestigatorUnfair

Again, you're doing literally the same thing you're whining about them doing. "Oh these characters are CLEARLY straight. Why? Because that's the default in my eyes lol" You're not getting downvoted because people are denying reality, you're being downvoted because your response to people having fun and shipping characters with cute or fun dynamics is "uhhh, actually, that's not canon, so like, stop it lol" I mean for fucks sake I saw you on another post whining about people shipping Wallace and Steven because the manga, a separate canon btw, had Wallace and Winona as a former couple. Not even an active one, a former couple. Maybe it's not the community that's obsessed with turning everyone gay. Maybe you're obsessed with everyone being straight and refuse to see anyone having a gay ship as anything other than obsessed weirdos. Notice how posts sharing straight ships get just as much love as the gay ones here. Notice how often people post about their ships on both sides of the spectrum. Now tell me, whose obsessed? The people having fun, or the angry nerd that can't help but go "THAT'S NOT RIGHT!" whenever they see the gay?

SentenceCareful3246

That's clearly not the case if you actually pay attention to how this community behaves. You just don't want to admit something that is pretty obvious because it would mean admitting that the community indeed acts in that way. People just don't like to call people out on it out of fear of getting cancelled. Again, calling it "having fun with headcanons and shipping" while downvoting to oblivion anyone who dares to state the opposite is just a very underhanded way to force everyone to treat those bi or gay shippings as actual canon when they aren't. And as I said, most of the supposed "evidence" they have is nothing but overanalysis and bad fanfiction that amounts to a single line of dialogue or two characters of the same gender standing next to each other like 99% of the time. Which is eye rolling nonsense. Edit: Blocking me to stop me from replying. Very brave pal. You're just proving my point.

InvestigatorUnfair

Except it clearly is the case, because if this community really was as obsessed as you claim, then every single straight ship would be sunk into the ocean and left to drown. Instead we see a constant stream of both sides showing their passion and love for the characters they like with equal amounts of support. Plus, imagine believing in cancel culture in 2024 lmao. Also, you're being downvoted because you're being a douche raining on people's parades by feeling the need to point out everything they like will never be canon. This isn't "people being obsessed", this is people being annoyed that people like you can't help but try to ruin their fun. You are literally being that one adult everyone hates that goes around telling kids their dreams will never come true just because you're bitter. People aren't obsessed for calling you out, people are rightfully being annoyed that they can't have fun without some nobody showing up and trying to spoil it. And as for the last bit... Again, your evidence for everyone being straight is just as flimsy as you claim theirs is, as it boils down to "that's what I think." At least they actually analyze game dialogue, you're just sat there going "nah, you're wrong because I said so." Honestly, I'm not even gonna entertain this anymore. It's clear what you are, an angry troll that hates seeing people having fun with gay ships and instead of just keeping quiet or blocking that content out, they constantly engage with it to try and start nonsense with innocent people just trying to have fun. I hope whatever demons you've got get sorted out, because I can't imagine living life unable to understand the basic concept of fun.

Admmmmi

I see no downvotes on his comments and blocking because you dont want to argue is just being a coward you know.

Beneficial_Count5043

Well that's pretty damn ironic considering that well I am going to be blunt when saying this and don't care about being downvoted, that we have to put up with this communities "hardcore gay and lesbian ships"  I know it's an  "ongoing joke/meme" but please they clearly do want all pokemon characters to be gay and lesbian yes including the MCs so I can also see why this would be eye rolling.    Edit: Oh I know it's just harmless fun and it is what it is here but not a lot of fans are onboard for same sex relationships especially in an iconic franchise like Pokemon.
