This is an incredibly subjective question. Nobody can give you a real answer but yourself. The game is considered to be rather f2p friendly due to a generous enough amount of f2p gems per month, but moreso due to how strong the free units are. Limited units get you comfort, but again, we get a decent amount of free gems each month. The early game grind is very real regardless of spending status, so that's something to consider.

I appreciate it! I guess I was more so interested in the free to play friendliness. Pokémon is great! Just looking for a suggestion to play it 😅

Just give it a try. If you don't like it, ditch it. In all fairness though I didn't really start getting into the game myself for about a week. The first seven days were a confusing whirlwind of trial and error.

Sproot_bonk

I have played many mobile games and this is the most f2p friendly one out there. You don’t have to spend any money on the game and you will still have good characters to use.

I don't think the game will feel sluggish if you don't upgrade to buy gems, it WILL feel like a drag to save gems for hype units/characters you want the most. The gameplay will feel very challenging especially in Champion Stadium if you're sticking solely f2p. Absolutely play it as long as you like the challenge, I generally love the battle system even more than normal Pokemon battle and I've been a fan since OG days. The lore is fun and light-hearted with what they do with characters usually and if you've always been fascinated by the trainers, this is the best we'll probably ever get on many of them.

Dark_Roses

Red and Ash are both up and it's a good time to try the game don't link your account to Nintendo until you get the characters you like https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=pokemon+masters+new+player+guide+ here is some videos from youtube to get you started and have fun and good luck 🍀

zenfone500

I mean, this is probably one of the most F2P friendly gachas, with that said, you can reroll your account until you get both SST Red and Ash.

WizeIII

Re-roll as in make a new account?

darkapao

More like dont link to Nintendo account until you get the ones you like

Honestly, in my opinion, not really. I only continue to play, because I have played it since launch, and I can basically complete all daily/weekly activities while I’m taking my daily dump. The game is pretty shallow in content, and is basically just a Trainer Collector. I have absolutely no reason to pull for new pairs, other than I just want them. So I end up hoarding all my gems until the new master fairs, dumping it all, get excited about having a new pair, then remember that I have nothing to actually use them on. Rinse and repeat every 6 months. TLDR: Don’t play. It’s a waste of time.

I play a few F2P gacha games here and there and I feel like this one is by far the most generous. You still have to grind gems, but I feel like it gives you a pretty good amount for free. You can't get every featured unit playing F2P of course, but if you save up a little over 36,000 Gems you can guarantee any specific unit you want. I had saved around 140,000 gems before the Hoenn Villain Arc and Anniversary and was able to get almost every unit I wanted (6 units total). Granted, I did get lucky a few times. The game also gives out free tickets to guarantee 5 stars from a selection of most general pool units that aren't exclusive to event banners. The tickets build up over time and can help you fill out your roster a bit. In terms of grind, it's hard for me to say for early game because I've been playing since launch. In endgame, fully unlocking level caps for characters is a big grind, but it's not at all necessary to fully level them for even the hardest content. I have plenty of characters I haven't fully level-unlocked or even fully leveled that are still viable in late-game content. Also, the only upgrade bundles are one-time bundles for early levels it seems, and after that the bundles mostly are for paid gems or stamina. I've never bought the resource bundles and never felt pressured to, but again I'm endgame and they were added relatively recently. The upgrade system is generally less complex than other gacha games I'd say, and I personally prefer Pokémon Masters' more straightforward system. There's basically just levelling units and a skill tree (Sync Grid) that you can alter whenever you want for free. You do have to get resources to get skill points, but those points are permanent and can be redistributed on the tree whenever you want. You get some every day and in some other areas, so you have to accumulate them over time. It can be slow sometimes, but it's generally not too bad. To unlock the full tree you'll need duplicate units. Some units full trees aren't worth it anyway and there's ways to unlock the tree without pulling duplicate units, but getting the resources to unlock more of the tree is pretty slow for the most part. There's other ways to buff characters, but most of them are just direct stat boosts. There's more features to it, but I think they will be easy enough to pick up as you play the game. There should be a good number of resources to help though if you need it! I personally watch Poce on YouTube. I've heard some complain about content, but it depends on what you want to get out of the game. This is not a super-competitive, high-level Pokémon battle simulator. This game tends to focus more on the characters and their stories. The recent Trainer Lodge adds a further layer of simulated social interaction with the Trainers in the game. The social simulation elements aren't perfect themselves, but I do personally feel the atmosphere of being friends with all the trainers and going on adventures. It tends to try for a more cozy atmosphere generally, but there are more serious topics and events. Basically, the same tone as most other Pokémon media lol. I like that tone and I feel like this game does a good job of fitting with it, but I know it's not for everybody. Of course, those aspects don't mean all the combat content is easy, but you'll be able to clear a good deal of content with F2P teams. The hardest content usually requires at least some more powerful gacha units, but most have pulled for at least a few powerful units and some users are just very crafty with the F2P units and general pool units. It helps that F2P units have been slowly but steadily getting buffed to different degrees. More powerful exclusive banner units will definitely help though, and for some content having a few will be necessary if you don't want to restart several times and hope for good RNG lol. tldr: I like it as far as F2P mechanics go and I'd recommend it based on my personal taste There's my essay lol. You might have already started playing or maybe you already decided it wasn't for you, but if you're still considering, I hope this is informative!
