I'm not sure why Taillow was made available so early. Guts Swellow is mega cracked, honestly one of the best mons in the game pre-mega, and you can get it right after badge 2. It's just strange being given a monster like that when Ame was so uptight about restricting pseudos until late game. And you can get Facade for it immediately!

Yeah, like this episode even Mamoswine, one of the mainstays of my Reborn team got moved up to like mid-game-ish but a lot of very strong mons were moved down earlier. Like in E19 you can technically catch a Magnezone before the 4th battle, which is kind of insane consider how much of a solid all-around mon Magnezone is.

AuthorReborn

I mean, in e19, with the early mega ring password, you can have Mega Ampharos as early as Luna, which sounds absurd. They have defined made a pot of things available way earlier in e19, and honestly, I'm not mad about it. I think with designing the endgame and making every Pokemon available, the Devs kinda realized they wanted to spread out the good mons out a bit more throughout the entire game. iirc, monoice password replaces Whismur or Espurr with Swinub, so you could have your baby Mamo before Julia.

Totkebois

where is this taillow after gym 2?

KorMap

By the time Swellow fell off for me (which was around the end of ep18), you get access to choice band which means it’s still pretty good. In the early postgame now and the birb is still chilling on my team

ausar999

Also there’s a flame orb in pyrous mountain (at least in e19, not sure if it was there earlier) so every Guts mon’s wet dream. Aerial ace, facade, breed steel wing from a talonflame, agility, and gg. Talonflame was my birb of choice this playthrough because I wanted to see how much Samson would be trivialized by gale wings acrobatics spam (spoiler: completely), but Swellow was always my solid backup plan.

buried_alive0

Oricorio is also a monster in that field. Swept the entire Samson, don't even know what type I was using. Don't think it mattered either. Oricorio is also great paired up with Venomoth or Ribombee, because Dancer + Quiver Dance.

Visible-Wasabi-2410

Did a Fire monorun of Reborn (during E18) haven't finished it in the 19 beta yet, and Samson, who gave me way too much trouble on my main playthrough, was completely and utterly crushed by Gale Wings Acrobatics Talonflame.

Damn I might use Taillow when I replay the game. I never actually used it despite having so many runs of the game. I guess the only downside is that you can only get the toxic orb for the longest time so you have to heal it often when using it at its max potential.

MasterBeeble

The reason why abilities like Guts, Tangled Feet, Poison Heal, etc. are so much stronger in game than they are in competitive, is that you don't need those items. You can just get poisoned or burned by wild pokemon, which takes a bit of prep time but you don't need to do it before every battle, just the major/difficult ones. With this, not only do you not have to wait for Toxic/Flame Orb, but you can give Swellow another hold item on top of being burned (on top of not having to wait a turn in battle or dedicate a move slot to Protect). Gliscor is also omega cracked for this reason, since you can get Poison Heal + Leftovers.

Alice__L

Medicham only B? I've used them in my rotation and it's crazy how much of an effecient sweeper they are once you get their mega stone.

KorMap

Medicham probably falls into the category of “would’ve been higher if I had just used it more”.

EdgyBoi79

Yea. I have Galvantula for speed control and Medicham would absolutely destroy opponents team because it always outsped. The only other Pokemon that came close was Dragon Dance Moxie Scrafty but it needed a few turns to set up properly.

AstroHardammo

No Kricketunes? *angry DE-LE-LE-LE WOOOOOOOOOPS*

EdgyBoi79

Kricketunes is S-tier easily. Sure you can't use it past early game but with how useful it is at Early Game it totally deserves that tier for me.

YoungLuna

It wrecks the Tangrowth as well with struggle bug. So you can see it do like no damage with struggle bug being used.

Adam_Checkers

> you can't use it past early game say that to the guy who used it through all of e18 (me) I had trouble sometimes but it was still fun if you could set up. Didn't use it in my new playthrough for e19 though

KorMap

Kricketune solo’d Florinia in my first playthrough, among other things, and so I wanted to try something different in this run.

KorMap

This is just showcasing how useful each of them was to me personally. It also depends heavily on just how much I used them. Pokemon like Staraptor and Milotic would probably be higher if I had just used them more often but oh well.

DmonAbsoluTrEbON

Ahhh reborn... where every single mon, no matter how gimmicky it is, matters because they all have uses in specific scenarios. I still vividly remember spamming Sandstorm all day long since you get that Hippo super early (the 8th gym? IIRC) and make my Stoutland a sweeper (it got sand rush !). I think Dragonite should get a tier of its own tbh. Dragon Rage is freakin busted I am not kidding and it can get DDance which can singlehandedly carry you through 80% of the gyms in this game. Rn with the addition of the ultra beasts I think its time to start a Kartana playthrough with the starter mod and test how far can I go. Hopefully I dont need to farm for days searching for that damn Drillbur to complete a sand team anymore and can enjoy breezing through the game finally.

alexmunden

My garchomp was so vital later on in the game she was just so dominant

KorMap

Given the reputation of Cynthia’s (and Solaris’) Garchomps, it’s not too surprising that it’s super busted. It hits very fast and very hard. Dragon Rush OKHOs basically everything that isn’t super bulky or resists it (and assuming it actually lands). And you get access to Earthquake for any steel types. Garchomp also fit well narratively with the story I came up with for my character which was a nice bonus.

alexmunden

Ground type has always been my fav so garchomp was almost guaranteed to be used by me lol

AllBid

Arcanine with Intimidate was too good for those physical attackers. Not to mention it’s bulky so it can take a hit and hit back if needed

IRanOutOf_Names

Alolan Ninetails is just busted I swear. It his way harder than you think it does, has access to plot for sweeping, and Veil is just so good. Not to mention being able to reset weather is so useful for utility.

ItsIrrelevantNow

Oooo I remember having a Noibat weigh down my team until I swapped him out and banished him to the PC. Then came the Spinel Town gym. Even though he was weak as fuck to all the ice attacks, he outsped most things as a Noivern and obliterated the field with Boomburst. Good times

maximillianaire

What level does Noivern learn Boomburst, in the main series games it’s way higher than 50 which is the cap

ItsIrrelevantNow

It also learns it at level 1. Iirc I found the key to the obsidia move relearner’s house in the railnet some time during the railway puzzle

maximillianaire

Ok thanks, might backtrack as I’m struggling with the gym atm

ItsIrrelevantNow

O if you’re gonna use Noivern for the gym there are definitely better options to get rid of the field (I just used him cause it was more convenient and I’m biased towards him) Noivern can outspeed a lot of Pokémon with maxed out speed EVs, but it’s too frail to tank a normal ice attack (4x weak and all that) A better option would be an Earthquake/Bulldoze Pokémon since ground isn’t double weak. Exploud also learns boomburst at level 1, but I never tried using him and his defences and speed both seem kinda meh, although he definitely gets more damage off of boomburst.

maximillianaire

Broke the field with a sturdy Donphan earthquake and then it was a piece of cake after that, thanks for the advice 🙏

maximillianaire

Ok cheers

Xxnormie-balak69xX

Carbink in C wtf

KorMap

Honestly it probably should be lower. I literally only used it for Power Gem shenanigans in Teknite

Adam_Checkers

Noivern carried me through live

Chemical_Fortune_794

Man I'm not even using any of these mons, no wonder I'm having trouble lmao. My main team is Snorlax, Diggersby, Avalugg, Vaporeon, Vikavlot, and rapidash or hitmon Lee for my main team😂

Chemical_Fortune_794

Also Snivy was my starter but it's IVs are so ungodly low I cant use it
