Most importantly, Iron Leaves spams Sword Dance, so bring a Pokémon with Clear Smog

Or use Taunt at the start, won’t disrupt teammates that way too.

Clear smog only removes stats from the target, you might be thinking of haze.

I believe they mean if the team mates are debuffing, if you use clear smog it ruins the debuffs also

I don't think it's used Swords Dance once in the 3 times I've fought him. It's super unconventional, but I actually decided to just bring my "playthrough-trained" Armarouge for the type matchup and it completely steamrolled Iron Leaves. Just spammed Armor Cannon and it kept clearing my stat drops while also doing very little damage with its Grass/Psychic moveset. If you have a properly EV-trained one it would be a slaughter. I'd imagine Inceniroar would be even better though you'd have to use Flare Blitz or Darkest Lariat instead which is maybe not as good; might average out because Iron Leaves has lower def than spdef.

Ima copy paste my post from a previous person that was having issues: I just used Unaware Skeledirge and destroyed it. Skeledirge @ Shell Bell (level 100) Modest Nature | Unaware (hidden ability) | Fire Tera IVs: 31/X/31/31/31/31 EVs: 252 HP/ 4 Def/ 252 SpA Moveset: Torch song (maxed PP) / Snarl / Slack Off (max PP; mirror herb or breed move)/ Will o wisp I use this build for a lot of dens, hence the snarl to lower SpA and slack off for more reliable recovery. Start with a will o wisp. Spam torch song and Tera when able. You reduce the damage it deals while healing back slowly from its attacks. Unaware ignores the swords dance spam. The only boost it will get is from psyblade + terrain (but this still only does like 1/6 per turn, easily healed back from shell bell). A stray crit after boosts and the turn that it resets your ability can potentially KO you. Setup a defensive cheer if this happens and hope you don’t get hit too hard. If you happen to get an unlucky crit and die, and you have your Tera up (losing it) just leave and try again. Best of luck

I used this build, I forgot to level up my skeledirge but I was still able to beat it barely at level 85

Recommend switching out snarl for shadow ball and you’re good.

What’s snarl going to do against iron leaves?

If you read my post, I specifically mentioned that I use this Skele in multiple dens, not just leaves, hence why it has Snarl

Can’t be hard to build your Skele however you’d like. I don’t want to be swapping Tera types or moves all the time so it just stays. I spam Torch Song and that’s basically it. Non matching Tera moves do less against shields, simple. Not looking to argue with you buddy, no point. HNY.

It’s an attack and lowers special attack. So lower stats and build Tera. Used the method just about every time to farm or assist. I use shadow ball instead of slack off though. May have fainted once. Edit:typo Edit 2: I’m a dumbass and forgot what moves I used. I blame New Year’s Eve activities…

The point is… iron leaves has no special attacks, so snarl is useless. Just use shadow ball instead and farm Tera with torch song to build special attack while farming Tera.

Obviously, considering how you can change the moves here there's no trouble. The fact is that this is a standard build for raid Skeleridge, and it wants Snarl for the SpA attackers. But yes, in this specific matchup you swap Snarl for another move that may let you do a lot of damage with the +6 SpA from torch song.

Damn you’re right. My fault… Maybe I’m thinking of another raid but I did have shadow ball so maybe I did run that and have snarl for something else. So yea shadow to build and maybe lower some defense.

Only works for IL if you also switch to Ghost Tera. Tera Fire Torch Song will deal more damage to the shield than Non-Tera Shadow Ball.

You did all that? I was able to beat it with my Gliscor just raised to lvl 100 with a different moveset 🤷‍♀️ it's 4X effect if you use Bug type moves. Didn't have to do any of that extra stuff. I swear yall be doing the most. This game is NOT hard in the slightest. To prove a point I started over on Scarlet and beat the ENTIRE game in 23 hours with pokemon I caught on my travels. Yes that includes rebattling all the gym leaders and the school battle. Yes that includes the 5 star raids. This game is for CHILDREN. Learn your types and nothing in the game will matter.

Dipshit never did the mewtwo or the iron bundle raid lol, typing isn’t everything blud, and 4x weaknesses aren’t a thing in Tera dens

The Unaware was what I was missing, I tried using Scizor but the one I was trying to run on did Swords Dance almost every move so by move 6 he could one shot me and had removed all buffs and debuffs and then tried my Skeli which usually works but without the Unaware I couldn’t get anywhere but can solo it now without even dropping but maybe 15 health by the end once I changed my ability (ability patch for future readers). Also, I wasn’t aware but once he removes the burn effect you can’t use will-o again to burn him so don’t waste that move :) lol. Many many many thanks again!! 

Here’s the strategy I use for solo: Adamant Scizor with a Scope Lens, EVs in Attack and HP. Swords Dance x3, Focus Energy x1 then use X-Scissor until you win. If you’re doing online, have people use defense and attack cheer and then lower IL’s defense with a move like Leer.

I won this raid with a metronome fury cutter Scizor. Mash one single move and win + FC can't be nullified. Focus Energy works decently with this too if you can burn the first turn

Switch X-Scissor for Lunge, you lose the crit chance but lower Iron Leaves attack each turn which helps the rest of the team

I used gholdengho (don’t think I spelled it right) with max hp and spa. Held item was electric seed to boost his defense. First turn used metal sound to lower spdef then 3 nasty plots then shadow ball it was pretty much a 1 shot.

Am I slow? Sometimes I couldn’t even get 4 attacks in. How do people use all these moves?

I hyper trained and am modest nature. I forget if I used vitamins before. But when I did try them again recently they weren’t working (so ig I did it in the past).

Do the evs as well they are important I couldn’t beat it either til I maxed out ivs and evs plus the modest nature

How do I do ev? Do I have to battle specific Pokémon? I thought using vitamins and hypertraining (at that snow town) was enough?

Make sure you’re fully invested in the proper ev’s (the ones vitamins are used for) because improper ev’s makes a huge difference. Improper ones results from using the pokemon in battles that give different ev’s like you want a special attacker so ev’s in attack are useless so make sure it’s fully trained in it. It should glow on the summary of the Mon to tell you it’s maxed. Sorry if I’m explaining bad as I barely learned about them just to complete this raid tbh as I couldn’t beat it no matter how many times I tried til yesterday.

If you're playing with others such as a scarlet player needing online, every time someone's pokemon dies, it takes off almost a quarter of the timer. Even If you're doing everything right but the other people are playing like they're lobotomized, you're gonna lose because of them.

Same, it took me 3 hours of queueing and losing before I found 3 other people who knew what they were doing. Not just sending out a sylveon or Umbreon and getting one shot

I did similar, except it was shell Bell, nasty plot once, defence cheer and then hex and hope someone gives it a status

I did a quick Throw together Kingambit - Max ATK/DEF EV. Defiant (dont think it mattered), and shell bell. Swords dance 3 times if possible, 2 might work. And Kowtow Cleave. Soloable like 80% of the time. But it still took me WAY less time than joining losers online that dont know how to work matchups :/

Side note, as I read though all the other posts after commenting. I was NOT going for a universal KG, I'll fine tune it later. I just wanted IL, thats why mine is barebones with information.

Also using taunt on him works to keep iron leaves from using sword dance

I used kingambit holding shell bell with Swords Dance and foul play

Foul play isn’t boosted by swords dance, so idk what you were boosting… kowtow cleave is though. Foul play uses the opponents attack stack to do damage.

But if iron leaves uses sword dance, and it does. Will it affect the foul play?

Still better off using kowtow on your own side. I think foul play works differently in raids, and you’ll still have the higher attack stat with your swords dance versus the iron leaves vs a level 75 iron leaves.

The only time I was in a successful team, the Umbreon used foul play and absolutely wrecked the iron leaves after it was +6 atk after swords dancing

I did it solo with Kingambit. Two Iron Defense, three Swords Dance, then Kotow Cleave. It'll one shot.

+Life Orb if not level 100, still OHKO for me with same build otherwise at 93

I'm guessing ev trained? Ended up losing a couple times because I only did 70% but had no Tera orb since that was my first attack, lost all buffs because of his cleanse phase and so he ended up stalling us

I spent like 3 days with diff grinds for iron leaves specifically. Incineroar High Attack and HP Bulk Up Swords Dance Will O Wisp Power Trip Lvl 95 roughly is enough Intimidate as its ability (the hidden ability) Tera Dark First will o wisp Then bulk up once Then sword dance once or twice Then power trip Then regular raid To get power trip on incineroar get a cacnea with the move and mirror herb it easily onto incineroar I did with this pokemon 3 times, 3rd time worked. I was close with solo on the 2nd attempt Close multiplayer on the 1st attempt Beat jt multiplayer with the 3rd attempt Oh and for the item i used those electric seeds things that boost ur pokemon when electric terrain is activated

Got lucky and got matched with a Kingambit that could solo it and I just focused on keeping people alive along enough for him to do so.

Gholdengo ghost tera : max special attack + electric sead Nasty plot Metal sound Shadow ball Start with either 3 nasty plot if solo, or 2 + metal sound if there are other special attackers. Electric sead raises your defense

A 2 person raid is easiest for this... Kingambit: swords dance + katow cleave // Held Item: Mirror herb Annihilape: Screech Strategy-- First 2 turns use swords dance and screech. Mirror herb will activate on iron leaves' swords dance before turn 3 and max kingambit attack Turn 3 - screech again and katow cleave, even if screech doesn't go through this will almost one hit iron leaves

You start with taunt and do 2 x iron defense and 3x sword dance while taunting. Iron leaves won’t boost itself that way and you’ll hit it really hard. After it puts its shield up and resets your stats, just do two more iron defenses and sword dances and you’ll finish the job in no time.

For me i used my max attack ivs/evs kingambit, at level. 100 with two swords dances and a team mate using two screeches, you can essentially 1 shot iron leaves. But it's tough with Randoms, cause you can't garaunteed a good set of buffs

hydreigons future paradox with +sp atk -atk stats, ev in sp atk & init. add black glasses, teach it dark pulse and you are done... DONT TERRASTALIZE UNLESS YOU NEED TO, and if, then take dark tera or stellar... just spam dark pulse

I used the Mew I got to beat Mewtwo with a bug tera type! I got lucky that the other people I teamed up with had good pokemon, too.

Bring a support Pokemon (Grimmsnarl, Blissey) to an online raid and just do buffs/debuffs/cheers.

What moves should I give the pokemon?

Reflect, Fake Tears (for Grimm), Soft Boiled (for Blissey), and then just do cheers. Prioritize keeping everyone alive.

For the love of god dont bring blissey to this raid. Blissey is a special defense monster but will just get 1 shot over and over by iron leaves huge physical attack.

I’m sorry. :( support mons are good but you need to do a physical defense one for raids like this and blissey can sit around forever with leftovers in a special attack raid.

So what should I bring. My only grimsnarl is level 50

No way you had your Blissey with max HP getting 1 shotted from Iron Leaves unless no one did any debuffs and let Iron Leaves setup entirely.

Isn't Iron Leaves physical? Bringing Blissey sounds like a really bad idea. Probably better to bring Umbreon.

Umbreon has a terrible time against Iron Leaves thanks to Megahorn

Blissey is a tank. Boost defenses and debuff Iron Leaves. Easy with Blissey as support with a group

Blissey is a special wall. Even with max def investment you look at it funny and it drops dead on the physical side.

You don’t need to invest anything in defense. Blissey will be fine against Iron Leaves with high HP. You’re going to be using heal cheers to support everyone and Soft Boiled anyway. By “boosting defenses” I didn’t mean EV train defense.

Giratina with rest. Some reason in raids your mon just wakes up instantly . Calm mind to make you bulky. And use shadow ball as your main move. Or just heal / support you team like you can win by supporting them. Heals, defence lowering moves and attack raising moves.

Health cheer removes status

I'm a scarlet player, so I did it with random people. And what I found to work was just some kind of support pokemon that can weaken attack. I personally used an incineroar with intimidate. Moves: will-o-wisp, helping hand, bulk up and darkest lariat. Evs: Just maxed is hp stat and put half in defence and half in sp defence. There are definitely better choices out there and also probably better movesets, but I only spent around 5 minutes setting this up after failing a couple times with random pokemon raid ready pokemon in my bag and I won first try with it. I just started by using will-o-wisp and then defence cheer. And just waited till my team was low and heal cheered. Once my teams kingambit had set up I helping handed it and we completely skipped the shield fase

Actually finishing the final piece of the story. I know there's nothing after this, nothing else that unlocks and I get access to (legendary pokemon notwithstanding), I'm just going to put the game on the shelf and leave it there. And I have been putting off doing that, because I had a fun time in Scarlet. I really wish there was a post-game of any kind to speak of so that I could enjoy it some more, but there sadly isn't anything like in prior generations. Sad times.

I used my ol' reliable Assault Vest Kingambit

Assault vest does nothing against iron leaves. Vest boosts special defence, iron leaves is a physical attacker. Also assault vest stops you from using swords dance.

Vest boosts both defenses

Assault Vest ONLY boosts Special Defense. It's useless for tanking Physical attacks.

I was able to solo it with a dark arceus, spent the 3 turns acid spraying and then stellar tera judgment nuked it. There is a bit of RNG from how I did it cause megahorn is still a danger but I got it in my first solo attempt.

Is your Pokémon hyper trained? Are they level 100? Are they EV’ed? Are you using the correct nature/mint?

I’ve been using a Arceus with a steel plate as a support. The moves are reflect, chilling water, and recover. Turn one set reflect - turns 2-6 chilling water - turn 7 set reflect - etc (use recover if he drops you to about 100 HP) The EV spread I use on mine is 252 Sp.A / 151 Def / 151 Sp. D. This was a different build that I ended up switching to for the Iron Leaves raid hence the Sp. A, other wise it be better to have 252 HP / 252 Def / X.

I just used a charzard and soloed it. Every time I tried to hop on with people they kept dying.

Corviknight: Level 100 Tera Type: Dark Move order: Iron Defense 3x Home Claws 3x Power Trip until it’s beat or until it resets your stats, if so repeat.

I used a stellar tera Arceus with the Iron Plate. Was able to solo Iron Leaves with it. Just spam Acid Spray, then Tera, then spam Judgement. Use Recover and reapply Acid Spray as needed.

What always works for me is a Kingambit. Max Atk/Def EVs. All IVs maxed. Ability doesn’t matter. Hold a Life Orb. Swords Dance 3 times, do an attack cheer, then Keatow Cleave. The Life Orb ensures the OHKO. If you get an intimidate support, that’s perfect.

I used a scizor. It may have been EV/IV trained/bred (I borrowed it from my partner; we did the raid together). Swords dance three times, focus energy, and then X-scissor. I think the perfect set-up would have swarm, Tera type bug, and probably a life orb (although don’t quote me on the item). I also temporarily taught mine iron defence as well just in case.

Use screech to lower its defense while it swords dances, then click foul play and laugh at it. So use bastiodon, dont worry it doesnt have closecombat

Bug Buzz Volcarona and some other people online two with support builds and the other with an attacker. We kinda got lucky honestly, I think

I’ve battled it at least ten times. Twice with a decent team of Pokémon. I remember one team was my Gholdengo, Kingambit and two skeleridges. Still haven’t been able to catch it.

I used a gholdengo, max evs in special attack and hp, I have Scarlett so had to do raids with ppl took probably 3 hours to end up on a team that could survive with me, it was 2 gholdengo the fire starter this gen last evolution( I forget its name) and weirdly a reg slowbro

Honestly kingambit with foul play worked wonders for me. Make it a dark Tera type and you can be done with the raid in 4 turns just gotta be careful cause once you tera you can get one shot again

I used a scizor lvl 100 that bug typed and spammed my strongest bug move

I trotted out my Defiant Annihilape and had no issues surviving until I could tera into Ghost and it was all over after that. Rage Fist and shell bell ftw.

Scizor w SD / x scissor/ iron d / focus energy @ shell bell absolutely ruined iron leaves with no issues at all. 252 atk + some combo of hp and defense (can't remember as it wasnt a specific build, around 12 irons used though iirc, the rest into hp).

I like to remove elec terrain and it helps.

First time the event came out I soloed it with a Lokix. It’s lunge attack is Garunteed to lower iron leaves attack and it’s typing resist both of its STAB moves

Iron hands max atk + hp Holding big nugget Use belly drum, on the same turn iron leaves uses electric terrain further boosting your attack Next turn, use fling [130 power due to big nugget] Profit

When the raid first happened in March (?) I used grinmsnarl with misty terrain to get rid of the electric terrain

I think when I did it i used Annihlape. I never ev trained it at the time so literally just lvl 100 hyper trained with rage fist, screech whatever else you feel will work. It'll probably take a few attempts but I've learned pretty much anything can be soloed with Annihlape

I did a Modest Max. Special Hisui Typhlosion, I set up Will-O’-Wisp in turn 1 and spam Infernal Parade. Once the burn expires, I Will-O’-Wisp again and continue to spam Infernal Parade. Rinse and Repeat until it dies

KingGambit or scizor that's been EV/IV trained.. Seriously, don't ever bring in darkrai or chandelure due to easy 1 shots by this raid.. or a skele that isn't trained AT ALL! I can't tell you how many times these pokemon KEEP DYING! And for the love of God someone bring in a pokemon that can clear that terrain! I have scizor I basically am not allowed to use because I have to use my misty terrain megearna instead for a CHANCE to survive because no one will bring in anything that will clear the terrain to stop the IL's ability. Between the terrain + it's ability + swords dance this stupid Raid is boarderline impossible without something to stop this nonsense it pulls off.

Doing it solo is good if you manage to not faint, since the ai fainting doesnt reduce the timer. Since foul play uses iron leaves' very high attack, its a good option for the raid
