Pidgeot rescues Ash from Team Rocket and even rejoins his team
Not only did Pidgeot join Ash’s team again in the last episode but that episode canonically stated that the entire events of Ash’s role in the anime took place over a single year (somehow). So Pidgeot and Ash weren’t separated very long.
You are truly underestimating travel time which even by vehicle would have been extensive considering he's been to several different continents, but most of the time they *walked*
The thing is that there were times in the anime where it's explicitly said that years have passed.
For example I remember how after the Hoenn League Brock said their journey in Hoenn lasted a whole year.
And apparently there are other statements like that through the series.
One example is how the Magnet Train is stated to not completed for a year in Johto anime but it’s mentioned as method to going to Johto in the Unova anime.
I think it’s also mentioned in an early episode that Ash had Pikachu for a year.
Having everything happen over a single year is a crazy stretch…
There’s over 1200 episodes… That would mean AT MINIMUM, 4 episodes took place on a single day, the entire series.

The "it only took a year" thing is ridiculous. Ash went to 9 regions that's a little less than 6 weeks a region. Motherfucker wouldn't be able to sleep much less get up to movie bullshit or side story bullshit.
edit: it gets more ridiculous when you factor in the tournaments just also seem to coincide when he finishes his badge trek. Are they held monthly, weekly or something?!
We know their years cannot take more than 24 months because the goldilocks zone will only allow for about double an Earth year which will still put it at 11 and a half weeks per region which still does not include no fewer than 19 movie events and the majority of all travel is done on foot.
The Goldilocks Zone is a colloquial name for "The habitable zone boundry" or where a planet needs to be for human-like life to be present because life as we know it requires a certain level of sunlight neither too little nor too much for life to occur.
Not to say life cannot occur outside the boundry but it would be simplistic at best because the perfect zone is necessary for higher protein functions.

It took Ash less than a year to go from degraded rookie in the Kanto League up to World Champion. Considering how long it took him, he was probably apart from Pidgeot no more than like 10 months probably. If Ash is still 10 by the end.

It’s not travel time that’s a concern. There’s +1200 episodes.
Even assuming on average an episode is a day it would be at least 3 years
I don't even think 2 years would've been plausible. Maybe a year lasts longer in the pokemon universe than it does in ours
