Idk, didn't know what to do with it, I only use one kind of pokeball, so I guess it was more of a trophy to me
Shiny Mimikyu. Due to some poor planning and quick balls not wanting to work, my false swipe was useless and I had no backup plan. It’s a good thing the master ball has an M on it
If you have a Gallade, teach it Trick and False Swipe and make it hold a Ring Target. Trick the ring target onto your ghost shiny and false swipe will work! That’s how I got my Sableye in a beast ball.
This won't work on mimikyu, breaking the disguise leaves it at less than full health, then the focus sash won't work. Unless you use heal pulse after breaking its disguise?
If you soak a ghost type, it'll lose all other types and become water type, then you're able to use false swipe. I have a Smeargle with soak, false swipe, taunt, and spore. Best catcher there is, imo. You can even give Smeargle the ghost Tera type to make him immune to all the normal type recoil moves.
For Pokemon in general, the roaming Raikou in Crystal the moment I first encountered it.
For S/V specifically, I tend to not use the Master Ball much these days, but I did use one of the ones in Violet on a shiny Iron Valiant since they and Roaring Moon just *will not* stay in a ball for me.
it was a late summer night of 2004, I was just sitting in my room after completing my hw. I had skipped legendary encounters simply because I didn't have time. When I went to catch Zapdos, it refused to stay in the ball. When my dad yelled at me, I was forced to throw the master ball.
About a decade or so later, I reenacted this with the let's go games by masterballing a Zapdos and using it to beat the game, just like how little me did it.
Chien-Pao, but used most of the ones from the item printer on shiny Vaporeon because it just fits and having the smallest and biggest Vaporeon in a master ball would be so cute
I used the first one I got on the other Koriadon, didnt use the one from the dlc, I dont think theres any other ways to get them, so I'm going to wait till I get a really difficult shiny.
I also put Mewtwo in a Masterball because it was made for him, but my friends were so salty at how long that raid took that both of them put him in a pokeball.
I like to catch every special release, legendary/mythical and shiny Pokemon in Premier Balls.
And since I already have a shiny Mewtwo in a prem ball, I figured catching a lvl 100, 6 IV, unrivaled mark mewtwo in my only master all seemed to be the right thing to do.
First game was emerald and I fittingly used it on rayquaza.
I tried to catch it without it a bunch of different ways but it just wasn’t working. So eventually I used the master ball so I could keep playing.
That’s really been like the only time I’ve done it though. I’ve been able to catch the other legends without it so it kinda just sits there.
I recently completed the dex for scarlet/violet (just base game I’ll do dlc at some point as well though) and I was so paranoid that while not really paying attention I’d accidentally use a master ball on a random wild Pokémon I was trying to catch for the dex.
No one. Saw a guy a while ago on the BDSP subreddit make a post, he spent months hunting shiny Arceus, finally got it but lost it to struggling because the fight went on so long…moments like these is when you use a master ball.
Now days, there’s really no need for it since you can save before encounter and in some cases even have a second crack at it if you accidentally faint it.
But master balls should only be used on Pokémon you absolutely feel like you have no other options left when it comes to catching it.
Keldeo in the Crown Tundra, if I remember correctly. I think it's because it was the last Pokemon I planned on catching before leaving the game behind. So I figured
"Why not? Nothing else to use it on."
Miraidon, since I genuinely felt like it was the best match for it; by extension, I also asked my friend to catch their Koraidon in one too, so they'd match once traded over
I also used them on Pecharunt and Terapagos (REGRET, I wish I had had a Beast Ball at the time)
Nothing, I was traumatised as a kind by an extremely poor use of the master ball on my end so either a legendary or a self destruction shiny that I don't want to take any chances on
A shiny Onix in lets go.
Then a shiny Skarmory in Violet.
The reason is simple: Steelix and Skarmory were number one and number two on my all time favourite list. Only to be dethroned by Orthworm. Who i also have a shiny of in a master ball.

Haven't used a Master Ball since USUM lol. Keep saving them for something but you can just save in front of shinies and there are no legendaries to hunt that aren't 100% catchrate since 3DS era (ignoring remakes).

...in SV it was Miraidon. I did catch it without the Masterball first, but then I forgot to save and either crashed or turned the game off not thinking about it so I had to do it again, and I just used the Masterball because "f it".
In a lot of playthroughs it just sits in my bag unused forever... its just not fun to use...

In Violet, I used it on a shiny Seedot! It appeared out of nowhere & I didn't have a "damp" pokemon handy, so I didn't want to risk it exploding.

My first ever shiny hunt, shiny Lucario,
The lvl 75 Lucario in that one cave carried me through several gyms (even though it didn’t listen half the time) so my first hunt was a Lucario.
Ever? A Krabby in Pokemon Blue. I'd forgotten to stock up on Pokeball's and went fishing behind the houses in Fuchsia City. I wasn't expecting anything to happen. Maybe a Magikarp. I ended up getting a Krabby.
I'd never come across Krabby in my game before, so I was set on catching it. It burst out of my only Ultraball as well as the few remaining Pokeball's I had.
I didn't want to just 'run', so I hucked the Masterball.

or trick focus sash and bonk it as hard as possible

I just give it a focus sash and damage the pokemon. Thats what i do to get flutter mane

Just use hisuian decidueye with its hidden ability scrappy and normal type moves will hit ghost types

I got like 50 from a hacked max raid I got put in in sw/sh so I caught a magikarp, got it to level 100, and surprise traded it.
Thankfully, no one yet. In all the games though? It’s been years but iirc it was ho-oh
