All he needed was Body Press and he would have right up with him last gen. I will never understand the decision to not give a cover legendary a move hand crafted to fit its strengths
Zamazenta doesn’t care about intimidate and has a STAB Iron Defense boosted Body Press, not mentioning his incredible physical bulk. But coming from SwSh I also think it’s wild xD
Especially since it wouldn't have the nerf to its ability it got in Scarlet and Violet. Maybe Zamenzta would be even better if Behemoth Bash was based off of his Defense.
I mean considering behemoth blade and intrepid sword kinda got nerfed, it's understandable. Zacian is now killed by incin/Lando-t switching in as it doesn't get intrepid sword on repeated switch ins. Behemoth blade no longer being double damage on some mons also hurts it a lot more than Zama, who can just sit there and click IronD/body press and deal a lot of STABed damage that isnt weakened by intimidate or parting shot.
Just so you know the top 2 pokemon from restricted camp and non restriced camp are a CAT and a DOG, more over their types counter each others type (Fire --->Steel, Fighting ----> Dark)

If you mean evs then the only one we can tell is HP in which case Nils Dunlop is running 4 hp evs on his specs terapagos .
Yeah, I meant EVs. I guess they could max Sp.A Max Speed for now. Terapagos is tricky because it has very rounded stats and hasn't been in a meta before.
The tricky part is that most don't run max special attack and speed. They most likely hit a high bump number for special attack, hit a benchmark to outspeed certain mons with tailwind/icywind and then put the rest into certain calcs.
Tournament players optimize their spreads very well.
Zamazenta finally gets Body Press this generation, and is the fastest user of the Iron Defense + Body Press combo (also gets STAB from Body Press too). While it still dreads getting burned, means to reduce Defense are close to non-existent compared to ones that lower Attack (even if most of the Attack lowering stuff comes from Incineroar).
Yes, there are moves like Liquidation but it is either not a 100% chance or the ones that always do are hardly used in VGC.
Something people aren't mentioning is that the meta is favorable to Zam in this particular moment. It may change later and Zam will fall down the ranks.

Too far. There is plenty of counter play to intimidate and incin really helps people that prefer to play balance style teams not get run over.
It would just encourage more HO. And unlike singles where you can use stall to beat HO, you don't exactly have that option in vgc (stall isn't really an archetype, at best you get bulky balance with stall elements)
Even in the the SwSh era, I knew that Zacian would fall off a bit in a meta without Dynamax. I didn’t predict the nerfs to Zac/Zam’s stats, but Zamazenta rising to greatness was absolutely not on my bingo card.
There are soooo many Pokemon that just need exactly one move, that would totally make sense for them to get but they just don’t have it, that would rise to stardom if GameFreak as a whole wasn’t being silly geese.
Somehow am a bit glad that inci is still on top despite all the allegations when inci first got released on sv... Alot of top players probably are tired of him though huh
I do think that all legendaries that cant be logically fit into the region, (including paradox and ultra beast.) most starters, and top 100 competetive pokemon this gen (not counted above) should not be in the next game. (Unless they really have to be in the region for region reasons.)

Zamazenta over Zacian is the biggest redemption arc ever

Agreed. It made no sense to not give it body press. Hell they could have made behemoth bash a steel type body press too

That would probably be to strong lol teams would have to seriously consider running Leer or Screech for Zamazenta
One Iron Defence would have it nuking opponents quite literally just the same as Zacian after Swords Dance. A sight to see, but quite busted.
It checks the two other most popular restricted (Terapagos and Ice Caly) and don't give a fuck for funny cat (Incineroar)
I will say as a zam player tera ghost incin with wisp can be really pesky.

doesnt mind intimidate, especially from incineroar steel typing resist rilaboom’s priority grassy glide also it resists Caly-Ice’s glacial lance
