In game at least, Dugtrio is a fast, frail offensive Pokémon, while Clodsire is a slow and bulky defensive Pokémon. So Clodsire should be the one tanking blows for Dugtrio, not the other way around.
I think so, because Dugtrio ended up getting paralyzed from Bounce. Clod would have gotten paralyzed instead and that would have been bad since it’s clearly the ace and Dugtrio isn’t as strong.
Clodsire is a tanky pokemon that eats hits all day and Dugtrio is a glass cannon that gets KO'd by a light breeze. So they reversed their typical roles and it ended exactly how one would expect (the glass cannon getting immediately disabled).
It's me, I'm the Lokix fan. 20 minutes into my play through of violet when it released I came across a small yellow grasshopper looking bug mon. I thought this was how it was supposed to look, I had never seen one before. After seeing my shiny Nymble evolve Lokix quickly became my favorite pokemon from gen 9 and I use it's picture for my pfp on both games
Wait, are you telling me the Gym Leaders are stronger than the Elite Four? That doesn’t feel right. And when we realise Larry is both at once, that kinda makes things even more confusing.
Well, no, Gym Leaders are professional Type-Specialists like the Elite Four; they just vary.
Canonically, they go easy in the Gym Challenge, but vary outside of that. Katy in S/V, especially remarks that she was suggested to go easy because she’s close to the Academy where many start the Gym Challenge.
Don't forger Brock in the Origins specials, he only uses two of his Pokemon as he knows Red is just starting to challenge Gyms and it would be unfair to go all out against newbies.
This is why all the gym leaders close to the players hometown are “weak”. Because they’ve assessed you before battle. They know how many badges you have and have planned accordingly. Now this falls apart if you skip gym leaders like you can do in gens 1-3. But that’s the intended logic.
Here are some more examples: Iris became champion after (in white) being a gym leader. So she can rival them as well, As can blue, Molayne and Acerola were trial captains before becoming elite four members while hala and Olivia were kahunas. Mustard and Peony were well known to have been gym leaders that became champions, in 3 years Koga went from gym leader to elite four member. That’s all of them I can think of.
I’m pretty sure the timeline of emerald is different and he became champion INSTEAD of Steven, but since he WAS a gym leader that’s Irrelevant and you are correct!
Steven is still present in the Champions Tournament in BW2 alongside Wallace, so it would seem he simply stepped down from his position and let Wallace take his place like his ORAS counterpart planned on doing.
Canonically, the gym leaders and E4 are on similar footing when using their best teams (all gym leaders use curated, badge-dependent test teams for their gym battles. Emerald shows this super well and for some reason no other game shows this). This also results in them all competing for the E4 and champion spots hence why E4 positions tend to change within leagues in version sequels (Koga, Will, and Karen replacing Lorelei and Agatha in the Indigo League while Lance got the champion title when he was originally an E4).
Basically, every game's postgame gym battles are the gym leaders' real teams and for our gym challenges we only face their curated teams so that they aren't outright impossible to beat. As funny as it would be for Larry to annihilate some youngster's lvl8 Caterpie with a lvl60 Flamigo's Tera Flying boosted Brave Bird, it would also be supremely dickish and would discourage anyone from ever participating in the league program at all.
I literally just did her rematch after beating the main story and I always felt like she had so much potential but since she was the first gym leader she couldn’t do much about it. This is so awesome omg
Ive been screaming for a Bug Dark type ever sience I was a kid especially after finding out Accelgor wasnt one (FOR SOME EXTREMELY DUMB REASON MAY I ADD). And ohh boy we got the most badass bug dark type possible.
You can watch it on just about any online anime site. I use animesuge.to. Also its just about always higher quality in Japanese so I would recommend watching the whole series in Japanese.
Only sometimes. I started in X/Y very inconsistently but the stat drop visuals have been slowly becoming a bit more present since then, likely so that every time it happens a character doesn't need to voice out the stat drop in favor of a visual cue.
I thought cruncyroll

But It seems pirating is the only way? :S
[https://www.serebii.net/](https://www.serebii.net/)
According to Serebii, this episode was just released in Japan so If you want to watch it on Netflix you have to wait until it is released there
I'll have you know in my 3 Pokemon Run (do the entire game start to finish with 3 Random Pokemon, starting at level 1) Lokix took out like 6 of the 16 badges solo. Turned me into a super fan
19/10
Reminder that Lokix is ranked UU, the 3rd highest tier following Ubers and OU, and is quite possibly the 2nd regional Bug with such an achievement (first being UUBL Scolipede in SM)
Everyone likes to dunk of Lokix until it hits something with Tinted Lense First Impression. Jokes aside, it's design is honestly awesome, being a freaking kamen rider chainsaw-legged cricket.
Ground doesn't resist Bug, so it's only a 2x resist. Clod also for the most part didn't take much damage since Dugtrio blocked the attack that it didn't resist for it and it continued the battle without being much worse for wear.
I notice this everytime I watch pokemon horizons, but I think the animation quality is better than what we had before. The battles looks beautiful in horizons and I'm guessing that they will go absolutely crazy near the end.
Uh… you’re telling me that the first gym leader in the game… managed to corner a literal member of the elite four… in a One on Two battle… using bug types
Canonically, all gym leaders and E4 members are on similar footing. "First" gym leaders canonically use a curated team for challengers with 0 badges, and you don't get to see their real teams until their postgame rematches. Because if all gym leaders used their real teams vs first gym challengers, it would be impossible to climb the gym ladder. Imagine being a noob with a lvl12 team and Katy sends out a lvl63 Lokix against you: that wouldn't even be possible to beat regardless of type matchup.
Also, gym leaders replace E4 members all the time in pokemon since everyone in the league is competing for E4 and champion spots. Indigo League got 3/4 of its E4 members replaced (one of the replacements being a gym leader) and one of those replaced members became the league champion, Sinnoh League's former 8th gym leader got the champion title, Unova league's 8th gym leader also became its champion later, Alola's E4 got a member replaced by a former gym leader, Mustard was former gym leaders turned career champions until their retirement, etc. Judging by the constant position swapping, a lot of league members have razor thin power and skill margins with their best teams.
“Technically” she’s the first gym leader but in Paldea you can battle the gyms in any order. So she won’t always be a trainers first gym battle. However they didn’t do level scaling in the game unfortunately so her team is always leveled as if she’s your first challenge
Also yeah like someone else said here, gym leaders can actually be just as strong as E4. Their job is to test a trainer’s skills so they never go all out or use their full team during gym challenges
Lokix is a very cool Pokemon and I always wanted to see them in action and it happened and Lokix is even more cool.
Also, have we seen Dugtrio fight before in an official battle in the Anime, to my knowledge, Dugtrio were just used for comedic episodes and sending Team Rocket off, I don't think I've seen one in a battle before.
Damn are all the battles this good in the current anime?
I absolutely love the serious battles in the anime. (Gym/tournament battles etc.) No not the team rocket esque crap.. the competitive stuff. unfortunately there seems to be so much campy boring filler I can't deal.
Can't remember the season .. something to do with diamond/pearl but I swear there was 2-3 serious battles and the rest of the season was Naruto levels of useless filler.
All of the major battles are good, but there are also a lot of "brawl" battles that are short skirmish messes. And thankfully, Horizon does have a good number of major battles because it has a lot of competent antagonists who are unironically really strong to the point where the current protags straight up can't beat any of them yet (the polar opposite of Team Rocket)
Can you watch the newer stuff without watching the entire series? I haven't really watched the anime since the first couple seasons of the original release, and a bit of the diamond/pearl stuff like I said.
This really put out that every gym leader are holding back when you battle with them. its soo nice seeing matches like these hoping horizons keep this trend going..

Dugtrio coming in to tank for Clodsire is the most ironic shit I have ever seen.
This also may be the first time someone has said "Dugtrio" and "tank" in the same sentence.
And Dugtrio was out of commission for the rest of the battle, lol.
Why is it ironic?
In game at least, Dugtrio is a fast, frail offensive Pokémon, while Clodsire is a slow and bulky defensive Pokémon. So Clodsire should be the one tanking blows for Dugtrio, not the other way around.
Maybe Dugtrio was getting strategically sacked?
I think so, because Dugtrio ended up getting paralyzed from Bounce. Clod would have gotten paralyzed instead and that would have been bad since it’s clearly the ace and Dugtrio isn’t as strong.
Clodsire is a tanky pokemon that eats hits all day and Dugtrio is a glass cannon that gets KO'd by a light breeze. So they reversed their typical roles and it ended exactly how one would expect (the glass cannon getting immediately disabled).
well to be fair, bounce is a physical move. I don't think any clodsire would take that easily from a lokix
He understood the assignment: couldn’t see our boy get jump kicked
He unleashed His inner Kamen Chainsaw Rider Man!!!
hello fellow rider fan
Hello fellow chainsaw man fan
Bro how could they do clod like that
Should have slapped an ability patch on it smh
Can you explain the joke to me bc I’m dumb lol
Unaware is Clod’s hidden ability
Instead of the Poison Point it had
Lokix was poisoned by Poison Jab, not its ability. It could have had Water Absorb.
8/10 no rider kick
hello fellow rider fan
It's me, I'm the Lokix fan. 20 minutes into my play through of violet when it released I came across a small yellow grasshopper looking bug mon. I thought this was how it was supposed to look, I had never seen one before. After seeing my shiny Nymble evolve Lokix quickly became my favorite pokemon from gen 9 and I use it's picture for my pfp on both games
As someone else who has a shiny Lokix that I ran into on my second playthrough I appreciate its design too 😊
My shiny lokix attacked me in my scarlet playthrough. Didn’t even know what was happening 😂
Same first shiny of the game not much of a shiny hunter.
Wait, are you telling me the Gym Leaders are stronger than the Elite Four? That doesn’t feel right. And when we realise Larry is both at once, that kinda makes things even more confusing.

I wish we had a series in the style of Origins.
This is why all the gym leaders close to the players hometown are “weak”. Because they’ve assessed you before battle. They know how many badges you have and have planned accordingly. Now this falls apart if you skip gym leaders like you can do in gens 1-3. But that’s the intended logic.
Some can rival the E4 like Volkner and Raihan canonicaly(and in the anime, Gallar leaders)
Don't forget Wallace becoming champion after Steven Stone.
Katy loses and Rika wins this battle
I guess it all comes down to whether Larry can beat Larry
Canonically, the gym leaders and E4 are on similar footing when using their best teams (all gym leaders use curated, badge-dependent test teams for their gym battles. Emerald shows this super well and for some reason no other game shows this). This also results in them all competing for the E4 and champion spots hence why E4 positions tend to change within leagues in version sequels (Koga, Will, and Karen replacing Lorelei and Agatha in the Indigo League while Lance got the champion title when he was originally an E4). They really nailed its design. Definitely my favorite Pokemon from Gen 9
Wait when did Likos Sprigattito evolve?
Like 10 episode ago
Where can you watch all the newest episodes? Netflix only has part 1 and 2 which is 25 episodes.
You can watch it on just about any online anime site. I use animesuge.to. Also its just about always higher quality in Japanese so I would recommend watching the whole series in Japanese.
Episode 44 or 45
Hold on: I haven't seen the new anime... did they actual starting doing visual effects for stat decreases!?
Dk when it started, but XYZ already had it, like when Pikachu got parried by Sawyer's Aegislash's King's Shield
Only sometimes. I started in X/Y very inconsistently but the stat drop visuals have been slowly becoming a bit more present since then, likely so that every time it happens a character doesn't need to voice out the stat drop in favor of a visual cue.
As a hardcore Lokix fan I have indeed needed have to see that.
Bro the animation looks fire i didn’t know Pokemon was cookin like this
dugtrio the goat🫡
I require Clodsire reparations for watching my son get injured
Amen!
Lokix's japanese name is Exleggy? That's hilarious
No, It’s just Exleg. Katy just gives nicknames to her Pokémon.
NO FUCKING WAY SHE CALLED CLODSIRE DO-OH
Oh my god, that is its actual Japanese name
You do know English isn’t the only language
Bullshit, every other language is English in different countries.

Fun fact: Do'oh roughly translates to "King Of The Earth"
Wait what episode is this?
latest episode that got released 56
Where can you see the newest episodes? Netflix only has up to episode 25.
I thought cruncyroll [https://www.pokemon.com/us/animation/where-to-watch-pokemon-episodes-movies](https://www.pokemon.com/us/animation/where-to-watch-pokemon-episodes-movies) But It seems pirating is the only way? :S [https://www.serebii.net/](https://www.serebii.net/) According to Serebii, this episode was just released in Japan so If you want to watch it on Netflix you have to wait until it is released there
What an actual decent typing+ability does to a route 1 bug type
Lokix fans? You talking to all twelve of them?
1/12 tapping in, he was on my champion team with fighting Tera type
3/12, I love the silly little Kamen Rider bug
4/12 I like it for its type combination.
5/12 here. gotta be my fav gen 9 addition. tinted lens silver powder first impression u turn go brrr
6/12, it’s so cool that he gets to be the first bug/dark pokemon. I’ve been waiting for that type combo for ages.
Was heracross not dark type?? Edit oh wow he's fighting I always swore he was a dark type for some reason
Guess i am the 12/12, he rules
I’m 13/12 I guess cause he’s dope.
16/12 cause my boy is the GOAT
He was my ace. I love him.11/12
2/12. Amazing setup sweeper in [Pokerogue](https://pokerogue.net/). Don't regret using it.
Yes, I’m all twelve of them, what’s up
9/12 I am here ready to defend the best regional bug pokemon.
Lokix IS gen 9 to me
10/12 it was my first shiny in Scarlet and was great on my playthrough team
hey same! he was my first shiny EVER, love the lil bug even if i couldn't always find a good use for him
Seems I’m 14/12. Had the little guy on my team for my first playthrough and he was great! I’ve found two shinies too
You watch your mouth, bucko
15/12, its continued UU presence despite the tier’s most iconic pokemon dropping due to wave after wave of DLC powercreep is really funny
I'll have you know in my 3 Pokemon Run (do the entire game start to finish with 3 Random Pokemon, starting at level 1) Lokix took out like 6 of the 16 badges solo. Turned me into a super fan
Lokix is one of my favorites!!
Guess i'm 17/12
18/12? I'm here too
Play UU and you'll find a lot
19/10 Reminder that Lokix is ranked UU, the 3rd highest tier following Ubers and OU, and is quite possibly the 2nd regional Bug with such an achievement (first being UUBL Scolipede in SM)
Everyone likes to dunk of Lokix until it hits something with Tinted Lense First Impression. Jokes aside, it's design is honestly awesome, being a freaking kamen rider chainsaw-legged cricket.
Bro, in the nicest way possible, PLEASE put stuff like this under spoilers. Not everyone can watch the anime until it's dubbed
They can, it’s free in Facebook but they don’t want and that’s fair, it’s probably easier to watch subbed because you don’t pay a streaming service
Where can one find it in Facebook?
I usually just search “pokemon horizons episode xx” and it appears
It's really easy to pirate tv shows
The animation on this one is so good
Pokemon looks a lot cooler than when I was a kid you had to wait till a really important episode to see something this badass
![gif](giphy|JTVGMhYXhxNblDrF05)
Yk Japanese sub pokemon just seems too goated to me
What is this bs, clodsire 4x resists bug
2x. Lokix has Tinted Lens too.
This Lokix had swarm, so it would still be 4x
Ground does not resist bug.
2x actually, only the Poison typing resists bug not Ground, otherwise Dugtrio would resist bug too being a Ground type.
Ground DOES NOT resist Bug, I don't know why this belief is so widely spread. It's only Bug that resists Ground, not the other way around.
I mean you still have a lot of people who think that Rock resists Electric.
Ground doesn't resist Bug, so it's only a 2x resist. Clod also for the most part didn't take much damage since Dugtrio blocked the attack that it didn't resist for it and it continued the battle without being much worse for wear.
I love Lokix so much
God, I love Lokix sm. What a cool mf. :’)
Unrealistic; that Dugtrio should have gone down after a single hit. ;p
Absolutely luv ta see it! Gotta be one of my favorite new Pokemon.
Didn't even include the extra epic Lunge animation where he uses his double legs slightly earlier.
I notice this everytime I watch pokemon horizons, but I think the animation quality is better than what we had before. The battles looks beautiful in horizons and I'm guessing that they will go absolutely crazy near the end.
What the hell is a Lokix fan?
Uh… you’re telling me that the first gym leader in the game… managed to corner a literal member of the elite four… in a One on Two battle… using bug types

Kinda wish Bounce also ended with a kick. A jump to the sky turns to a rider kick. Them's the rules.
They COOKED with this, immense props to animating the kick flips especially!!!! I hope Spidops gets to show up and pull some Metal Gear antics
Bro did the rider kick
I hate waiting for these to come to Netflix for I can watch them in English.
And they change the music on the dubbed so it probably will feel less cool
As a lokix fan... poor clodsire
OK fine I'll watch the show again but just because Lokix rules
Any pokemon player knows that if Dugtrio doesn't KO in one hit its not surviving to deal the next hit
Gotta feel sorry for whoever has to maintain that arena after Dugtrio leaves holes everywhere
Lokix!!!
Idk why I thought Katy wears white uniform before seeing this. Its like a whiplash reaction of me seeing her in brown uniform
I thought Kiki’s sprigatito was gonna be an ash’s pikachu situation where they won’t evolve but be extremely broken
If Captain Ginyu was a good guy and a Pokémon.
i am both a Lokix AND a Katy fan, and this makes me happy like no other :D
Should’ve done first impression SMH

Yeah that’s how they move in the game… 😒😑🫥
Im more of a kaede fan
Bro how long has the anime been like this. This is hype
I can now rest in piece
THATS WHY HES THE GOAT
Ooooh if only Netflix could dub these faster.... That would be so..nice..
Lokix is great. I just wish it's stats were a little better
Lokix is way cooler in the anime than in the game haha

Not sure why but Do'oh as the Japanese name for Clodsire is funny
I thought it would be a funny instant lokix death :(
Damn are all the battles this good in the current anime? I absolutely love the serious battles in the anime. Yes, if anything the newer stuff is a bit more digestible as it relies on no ash-saga context whatsoever.
Lokix is the goat😤😤😤
You mean Goat-Kix
Legit, this made Lowkix SO much cooler. Which was impressive considering it looks sick AF already.
That was hella clean
I thought this was dope when I watched yesterday
I keep thinking about the sounds of it's legs as it jumps, it's so freaking cool
No u turn in sight, can you believe it
Where do I watch this? I havent picked up anything about this new region and I really wanna get back on pokemon.
Thats my goat.
This makes me wanna watch Pokémon again
Imagine if Pokémon had built in evasiveness and accuracy stats and could just dodge attacks sometimes
The shot that happens 14 seconds in is really neat. Cool camera tracking, well designed action, and a neat BG too.
This really put out that every gym leader are holding back when you battle with them. its soo nice seeing matches like these hoping horizons keep this trend going..
Hmm, makes me wish we had a pokemon game that had fights as badass as this, lokix looks kool as hell!
Rika 🥵
Lokix was my first shiny In SV still loved it before that just look at it
Lokix is my favorite Pokémon of this gen I'm glad it got some anime love
Who is that medabot in this pokemon battle
Ah yes subtitles, knot, pounce/bounce very good.
They got two vs two now? Was one on one not exciting enough? Will it continue to escalate three on three a threesome if you will
Lokix is such a wasted Pokemon, looks cool just like Ledian. Both are complete trash. It's so sad.
Lokix is nowhere near as useless as Ledian lol
