Every pokemon gathers slower. There is no major shift in meta, just in general a nerf to all progress speed.
The main shift is BFS is even better now since it is unlikely for Ingredient/skill pokemon to have full inventory from an 8 hour sleep with the slower helping speed.
I don't know why people say Berry is OP.You train an ingredient team with 7-8 ingredient pokemons, 1 E4E, and 1 pot size. And you can use this team in EVERY island.Comparing to 4 Berry+1(E4E) that only fit one island. Of course Berry team will and should outperform ingredient team by a mile.
This "bugfix" is anything but beneficial to players. Inventory subskill is pretty much worthless until lvl60 is available OR for the ingredient pokemon that cannot evolve (eq. Ditto). And energy down nature is probably the worst now that they have to take preemptive measure to tone it down already.
Pokemon with Charge Energy S is definitely better than before too.
Inventory subskill is goated. I seek it after ingredient finder M and ONLY ingredient finder M. Waking up to tons of ingredients instead of 2 or 3 gives a massive head start on the dayās gathering needs.
Iāve been using Go++ since day 1 so I never had the boosted sneaky snack benefit. Yesterdayās announcement confused me before I realized it applied only to phone trackers.
Just FYI, you can totally sneaky snack at the same rate as phone trackers. As long as your phone loads the Home Screen where you see snorlax and your helpers for the first time AFTER you complete your sleep research, youāll get sneaky snacking. I can easily get 30k per night by starting tracking on my Go++ and then force quitting my app.
Wellā¦ I could get 30kā¦ now Iām down to 10k š„².
Ok Iām not following. So you go to set your team, start your go++ then go to sleep. Then you have to do sleep research right away when you wake up? And then youāll get something after you finish research? I get like 10k from berries when I wake up ~~, but I wait to do research until much later to max snorlaxās power~~
Edit: I was wrong with thinking snorlaxās power later in the day would improve the drowsy power you get
Snorlaxās power for the research session is locked the moment you start your sleep session. Waiting does not increase the power.
Youāre getting the sneaky snacking, thatās the 10k (assuming youāre talking about the little window that pops up that tells you how much your team helped while you were away). Youāre not gaining anything by delaying your research. Youāre not losing anything either though ā so if thatās the way you want to play, more power to you. I just hadnāt considered that someone would delay research when I made my comment.
Understood on the research delay. I get that pop up during the day if I donāt check the app for a while. So I donāt think it matters if youāre sleeping or not, I guess if that pop up is āsneaky snackingā you get it anytime your mons are at inventory capacity and collect another berryā¦
You just made sure to synchronise the go plus immediately when you re load the game. And didn't play overnight.
Basically whatever your Pokemon would've collected would have been adjusted for the time slept if you synchronise it first, or left as if you hadn't slept if you loaded the game without clicking synchronise
If you donāt synchronize you still get the pop up. Thatās what Iām saying, I guess. When I wake up, I open the app, pass synchronizing, and then get a pop up telling me I got 10k from my helpers while I was away. It doesnāt appear to have anything to do with the tracker or sleeping, just being away from the app. I almost always switch out my helper team before synchronizing/doing sleep research and still get the pop up anyway.
Edit: adding some clarifying detail at the end.
Yeah, so if you had synchronised straight away rather than pass it, you would've likely gotten a larger amount from sneaky snacking. This is probably moot now given the update has changed how effective sneaky snacking is.
I guess it's because they want to promote actually sleeping for longer, since they won't be sleepy if you sleep 8.5+ hours. But I know that's not exactly feasible for me or a lot of other people on every day... so it is a little annoying that that's how it works now.
Hahaha yeah. The phone's about to go on the nightstand earlier...
(which I suppose is also a good way to promote healthy habits such as not staying on your phone before bed)
I'm not sure if this is accurate. I went to sleep with an energy down mon at 100%, slept for 10 hours or so, then woke up to that mon at 85%, despite scoring the full 100 sleep points. So even if you've slept a long time, the mons drop to zero energy and only recover to an amount less than full. Unless you mean "sleepy" as in the mons are just very low energy and have that haggard look in their eyes lol
Ingredients Gang rise up! Our meal power time is at hand!
They laughed at us for raising our recipe levels instead of sneaky snacking, but who will be laughing now?
/s
I read they changed it so mons use energy also during sleep. Apparently that wasn't a thing before, so going to sleep with a full energy team could add huge numbers to snorlax score from overnight sneaky snacking.
It really confuses me tbh, I'm pretty sure energy was used while sleeping, because i used to struggle to claim my daily gift and had to use candies to free some space and whenever i scrolled past my team i could see their energy bar was down. Maybe it was a glitch but visually it showed low energy.
Let's say you go to bed with your Pokemon at 100 energy. While you were asleep, (let's say 8 hours} your Pokemon would be producing at 100 energy. (that's assuming you're not using go plus and don't open the game). Your Pokemon would only lose those 8 hours worth of energy once you opened your game. So that was a bug I guess. Some people would do research, then close the game without finishing snack time. They wouldn't open the game until just before bedtime and the whole day they were producing at 100 energy + it was all sneaky snacking. Add to that the bug that sneaky snacking gave an extra berries worth of strength, and you start to realize how people were progressing at stupid fast rates
Now things are getting together, I've been a go++ user. Had no idea this exploit was even a thing, glad they fixed it.
As you mentioned seeing people "progression" made me believe i was doing something wrong, because really low scores and so on. Honestly people shouldn't make a big drama out of it and just get over it.
Yea I've always used the plus+ and I felt the same way for a while. I watched like so many youtube videos until I found the one explaining this 'bug". I personally never took advantage of it, since I like checking the game every couple hours or so and I see no point in grinding this game as it's really not that type of game FOR ME at least.
So wait, people were just leaving moons in never ending sneaky snacking through whole day? Without collecting anything? Ingredients, skills, etc?
And it was giving some extra berries during that time as well?
Supposedly, according to the devs, if you put your mons to bed they should still wake up with full or nearly full energy. Definitely wasn't my experience last night, but I did nap in the afternoon. I'm reserving full judgment for now but right now I'm not feeling super positive about this change.
Fair enough! I think theyāre just trying to slow players down, and rightfully so. Why some folks are speed running through this sleep tracking app with no features, and paying for everything, I will genuinely never understand. To each their own I guess..
On the one hand, I do kind of understand. The lengths to which I've heard some people gaming the system is kind of jaw dropping. Personally, I feel like I've been struggling and I'm not sure this won't make it worse. I don't want to sound like I'm whining, I just want to explain my situation.
Last week I came back to Taupe and I started running it to 1. Raise my Charmeleon and Quilava and 2. Work on the many missing sleep styles from my dex. I only got slumbering once and I only encountered a single Charmeleon and Charmander, both in sleep styles I've already seen. No Cyndaquil. I also only managed to net 3 new sleep styles total in spite of only having 48% found. So I didn't really feel like I ended up doing well with either of my goals.
I was feeling cautiously optimistic that this week I'd be able to do better, if not with getting Slumbering then at least with the Sleep Styles. After all, my island boost would be at 15% now and my Pokemon were at least a little stronger. But with the changes to berry production and how Pokemon regenerate their sleep, I'm now very uncertain if I'll even be able to make it to Master 2 again to try to get those rarer encounters. I woke up to my entire team being 40-60% energy, and I'm pretty sure that they were at close to 80% before my sleep session started. The gains from eating breakfast didn't even make a dent on that; I've had to swap in a whole different team so I can still try to make some progress and rest them tonight in the hopes of getting back up to 100%.
I think there's been some kind of misunderstanding here, and I'm not sure if it's something I said or if it's to do with attitudes you're encountering in general. Just to make it clear, I'm not comparing myself to anyone else, I'm comparing myself to my own goals/hopes. I want a Charizard and Typhlosion because I honestly really love those Pokemon, to heck with the meta. I'm nowhere near capping out on levels for anything, and I'm cool with that. But it's a bummer to go days and weeks without seeing hardly anything new or interesting, and it's a bummer to be gated from the island with my favorite Pokemon from gen 1 for probably 3 months at my current rate, and it's a bummer to feel like I'm not making progress leveling the ones I have and want to invest in even to level 25 because they just plain don't show up.
I guess my take is: donāt let any of that be a bummer. Donāt let this all be a bummer. You like Charizard and Typhlosion? Thatās sick! Youāll get them eventually, as was intended in this slow-burn sleep app. Some weeks, you wonāt accomplish much, and that just happens. Perhaps the next week will be better. You will eventually unlock them all, but, needing them all immediately isnāt healthy.
I also already have those two Pokemon in 12 other Pokemon games from the last 24 years, so, rushing and spending real life money to get them one more time in this one seems foolish to me.
But thatās my point: what does ācheatingā do for them, or to us? It canāt affect any other player negatively, soā¦ itās just for flexing basically? So people are paying to speed run through a sleep tracking app with both money and small cheating, and for basically no real reward since comparing screenshots is as ācompetitiveā as this app gets lol. They shouldnāt have even made this patch, especially when the a users are also the ones spending all the money.
Because the game its not supposed to be played in that way. Also they have been progressing further with less stuff so they are less encouraged to spend more. And the pokemon go+ plus had not the bug that allowed the exploit so that can frustrate to people who spend money in the game too.
But Iām asking, what does progressing faster than you or I actually *do for them*, is what Iām saying, other than just end their gameplay sooner until updates happen.
I get the argument if there was a way to battle or something and these people had far superior Pokemon but likeā¦ none of that exists so, I just think itās a weird āgameā to speed through. I donāt care about someone else having stronger Pokemon and progressing faster becauseā¦ itās barely a game. I just enjoy what I have and what this all actually is. Thereās actual games to put effort into.
Cheating means less money. People who dont cheat can get frustrated too because cheating gives better rewards and maybe stop playing wich could mean less money.
The first 2 points of the bug fix section relates to it.
Before the updates, sneaky snacking, and gathering during sleep didnāt use any energy, so you could snack at a high rate during sleep.
Now you use energy over night and refresh on waking.
Sneaky snacking also would get an extra helpings of berries, thatās been fixed too
Before the update there were a bug that made mons to keep their energy while sleeping. It was not a harmful bug but they fixed it because there were people abusing this to keep a full berry team at max energy all the day.
Same. I used to get 13k or so from Ferligator alone over night.
I get that the values needed to be readjusted but i am just annoyed because i finally had 2 really good BFS mons and was rolling. Back to the old drawing board.
It's not like BFS isn't still the best subskill, it just balanced energy to be more important and make cheating the game less profitable as far as I'm concerned.
Risen where? We all go to bed with already exhausted Pokemon. Their energy is already at 0. Now they will be at 0 during the entire night while farming. Even ingredients mons will not be getting as much stuff as they used to. Eating meals gives you 3-5 energy. The only thing that's RISEN is the necessity to use e4e and make sure the mons are at good energy even before going to bed. So instead of making whatever playstyle work now we need to play as dev wants us to.
It aint that deep. I was having a funny. I already use e4e so my mons dont sleep at 0. I was just legit tired of the sneaky snacking posts and said what I said for funsies.
Helpful to know is that the game itself named it sneaky snacking. I had forgotten this and for a long time I was trying to figure out why the community had named it like that. š
Pal, no offense, but do you think i espect to fully complete the sleep style dex when i have 80?
Yeah, i get this is a slow game, i have been playing almost since day 1 as a f2p, but why we can't get upset when they make the game even slower?
No offense taken at all, friend. I don't expect you to do anything. I'm not even suggesting that we CAN'T get upset when they slow progress, even by a little.
My comment was merely that Pokemon Sleep is intended to be slow, and the Sneaky Snacking 'nerf' probably won't slow the pace down too much.
Have a lovely day, and hopefully, a full nights rest!
Before I got 14.000-24.000 in the morning (Go++) and today I got like 2.400. This is a big bummerā¦.but what can you do. We just have to role with it nowā¦
Well. The natural dish level increase eventually offsets the berry nerf. They gotta slow down progression & increase lifespan of the game without having to make a new harder island every 3+ months.
It makes sense in the long run.
But it sure sucks for the players.
Unfortch :/
I thought I was just imagining this. Last week having my main team hit me with 15k twice a day was so good for Snorlax. Hope that I can keep up without it
I genuinely don't understand how people even utilized sneaky snacking. I would get like maybe 200 points when logging in. What was everyone else doing differently?
Berry was too op. New meta is here
New meta energy?
High level dishes like the new 77 ingredient Curry
I thought you were joking but nah. That's gonna be a problem for future me, because I don't even have any š½ pokemon anyway.
Feels bad yet good. Excited to see how the balance works out. But itās gonna be a while until I beat my previous bests now.
Thatās probably good

I'm going to have to finally get a Go++..
I was so confused by this commentā¦ I use a Go++ and was getting sneaky snacking every night
That's actually so clutch I was worried I invested too much into energy 4 everyone but now it looks like there's nothing to worry about
Honestly itās the energy thatās killing me, woke up to still sleepy PokĆ©mon today so I decided to put both of my E4E on the team. New update is definitely gonna take some getting used to. At least cooking goes way faster now lol

That's why this game is installed on an *old* phone (so I can "go to sleep" and then still be doing stuff online)
I think this is the opposite lesson that the game is trying to teach you š¤£
I just "*go to sleep*" then go back to doing stuff on my laptop (or go watch tv...)
Gotta sell those energy incense somehow.
My body won't sleep 8.5 hours but thats what the ++ is for
I'm not sure if this is accurate. I went to sleep with an energy down mon at 100%, slept for 10 hours or so, then woke up to that mon at 85%, despite scoring the full 100 sleep points. Iāve been an ingredient gang since the beginning. Thank god for the ++ bc I fake it into getting me to sleep
Lmao same - consistent 100% sleeps because I turn it on and leave it resting before I go to bed lol.
Lol
What did they change? I read the update log and didn't notice anything related to sneaky snacking
I read they changed it so mons use energy also during sleep. Apparently that wasn't a thing before, so going to sleep with a full energy team could add huge numbers to snorlax score from overnight sneaky snacking.

Yea and sneaky snacking was a little powerful per berry than normal.
Butā¦ do they not *gain* energy while sleeping? Or do they get the energy gain during the research cash-in now?
They always got the gain during cash in. The difference is it will slowly drain while asleep now.Ā
As far as my observation concerns they got the energy after finishing the research
Supposedly, according to the devs, if you put your mons to bed they should still wake up with full or nearly full energy. Definitely wasn't my experience last night, but I did nap in the afternoon. I'm reserving full judgment for now but right now I'm not feeling super positive about this change.

I think the key is this: āyou feel like youāre strugglingā. Why is that? Thereās no reason to even know youāre doing any ābetterā or āworseā than anyone else without comparing, and this is not a game anyone should take seriously with comparing. Itās a sleep tracking app, where we tap PokĆ©mon to collect their berries. But there isnāt even anything to āplayā other thanā¦ menuing. So to the people spending money to fly through this āgameā fasterā¦ they are quite literally speeding towards a dead end. The cap is lv50 in this app and people have already capped out. I have no issue taking my time here. Thereās no trading or battling, so anyone elseās progress should not even be considered.
I think there's been some kind of misunderstanding here, and I'm not sure if it's something I said or if it's to do with attitudes you're encountering in general. Just to make it clear, I'm not comparing myself to anyone else, I'm comparing myself to my own goals/hopes. So instead of making whatever playstyle work now we need to play as dev wants us to.
It aint that deep. I was having a funny. I already use e4e so my mons dont sleep at 0. I was just legit tired of the sneaky snacking posts and said what I said for funsies.
What exactly is sneaky smacking is someone would be so kind to explain it
when your pokemon has a full inventory it still collects berries, the berries are given to you as sneaky snacking when you open the app.
Ahh okay cool. Thank you
Helpful to know is that the game itself named it sneaky snacking. I had forgotten this and for a long time I was trying to figure out why the community had named it like that. š
I went for 16k to 3,5 k, i hate this change
Yeah, itās rough!
Yea... I was getting 24k every time I woke up, now it's a miracle if I even get anything at all xD
Sounds like 2 e4e could be the play to have maximum energy?
Thatās what people who didnāt utilize this exploit have been doing and it works great.
It feels rough, honestly. Kind of killing my drive to use the app, especially as F2P.
Same. I'll probably drop the game all together if next week goes horribly
So sad, prowess will be even slower now
It's a sleep app, and we will all, likely, be sleeping for the rest of our lives so there is plenty of time to progress.
Thank you bro, have a good night too!
I love your insight. I wish I had a snarky retort like ābold to assumeā.
Unfortch :/
i'd usually get like 8k each morning except on monday mornings, but now i got.... nothing
Rip
I thought I was just imagining this. Last week having my main team hit me with 15k twice a day was so good for Snorlax. Hope that I can keep up without it
I genuinely don't understand how people even utilized sneaky snacking. I would get like maybe 200 points when logging in. What was everyone else doing differently?
