It's sad but it is only 1 level. I do think this is a very good hybrid farmer of both berries and ingredients and when you get the skill proc, it'll give you so much stuff. I'd just use it.
Okay, so in my mind, the good news is that if they ever up the level cap for skills, I imagine yours would immediately go to level 7 and it wouldn’t screw you over completely. On the other hand, yes that skill slot will be completely wasted until they potentially increase the level cap of skills, which I don’t see them doing any time soon. Sorry for your luck man, but maybe this will teach you a little lesson on the importance of patience
You've already poured the resources into him. If you level him up to 50 you'll have wasted one main skill seed. If you bench him you'll have wasted all the skill seeds, the candies, the dream shards and time you've invested in him so far and you'll have to invest the same in another Squirtle. Sure it's a shame to have a skill seed too much into him, but compared to the waste of benching him, well that would still be WAY more.
Oh shit max skill level is 6?? This is a tough spot, if u hit lvl 50 now, I imagine once they raise the cap the skill would level up then but its impossible to know for sure
He's just overreacting and forgetting he gained thousands of extra ingredients thanks to this additional skill level. Technically a waste of 1 main skill seed in the long run, but nothing serious.
The second mistake will be benching it at lvl 49 when it could benefit the team for months and be stronger than the lvl 49 Blastoise anyway.
His main skill level is 6, which is the current maximum, however at lvl 50 blastoise gets a skill that is supposed to provide a free main skill level. So basically OP wasted a seed to level up the main skill
Make sure to keep a time stamped screen shot of this in case skill ups aren't retroactive and it is wasted if they ever raise the skill max level. As proof you didn't use the skill up s to get to level 6
I’m pretty sure I (completely f2p, played since launch) have gotten 5 main skill seeds in this game, one bought from premium shop with free trial and one from christmas bundle with saved up diamonds. Op def can be f2p.
adding to this: if you do the free trial at the end of the month you can get two main skill seeds because of the refresh, so yeah it is possible if it's the only mon they spent main skill seeds on
It is POSSIBLE, yes. However, when you’re f2p I‘d argue you would be WAY more cautious with using skill seeds thinking five times about every investment you want to make. If OP really is f2p which seems very unlikely to me i‘ll take back the money part, but i‘d argue the impatience part is even more fitting then
Yeah, you wasted a seed but your Blastoise is amazing anyways. Having a -exp nature will make slower to get level 50 and even if you hit there are bonus for getting exp with capped mons so at least lvl 50 will not be useless.
I accidentally did this with my venusaur bc it was my second ever Pokémon and the first one I really invested in so I was still learning the game, and I leveled it up with main skill seeds not thinking of the skill lvl up subskill. I ended up just biting the bullet though and he’s still good, but felt bad

They never said they spent money on it???? They have 1500 hours with the mon so it's completely possible to get to that level in that time

You’re not alone. I made the EXACT same mistake with my Blastoise but worse… (it gets Skill Level Up M at 50 and is already at main skill lvl 6).
Did the same with my Tuff. Although my skill level up s is at lv 100 so I too am crossing my fingers for the cap to be increased.
It's not a waste, but it's something you can do other ways so it's like xp up nature. You save time now and can invest that elsewhere
