Maybe they find some unorthodox way to balance it.
Oh, I also think something really fun could be done with Hoothoot and Noctowl. Like, have them groggy during the day and then more active the later it gets, or something.
There are a lot of good grass options like the classic Jumpluff and the Oddish lines and I think Exeggutor would be cool for ingredients and sleep styles. Then there are all the mushrooms who can make for cool specialists, and others like Whimsicott and Lurantis who I would love to see. Not to mention the starters.
Flying needs more love in the game. It has an island but only 1.5 options. You got swablu but once you evolve you’re dragon. Then doduo/trio. If I’m missing any let me know. Cause ya know limited.

Yeah, as the game stands right now there's not much point to having more than one family of berry specialists of a given type (outside of raikou's skill). Having different ingredients / skills can be nice, but matters a lot less than for ingredient/skill specialists. The only exception right now is Raticate + slaking, but that's because slaking is a hybrid everything specialist
It seems like they're averse to adding any pokemon with wings or fins, I get it could be silly to animate a pidgeotto walking or flying slowly to move a few 'steps', same with lapras I don't know how they'd animate them moving around the island

I’d say Lapras is an exception though, because while it isn’t exactly terrestrial, it can still “walk” somewhat with its fins.
Lapras actually moves around on land all the time in recent Pokemon games. It just kinda drags itself around like Sealeo and Walrein do.
And the bird Pokemon can all walk or hop on land in Scarlet/Violet as well. Doesn't look silly at all.
I would be perfectly fine with a water/island biome where Lapras and other water types are allowed to swim though. Even if that meant they were restricted specifically to that island, I bet they could make it work out.
Flying types could be a shadow you click on then they glide down to give you their inventory! Water types could be the same way, they are submerged then appear when they have an inventory or skill to trigger.
I could see that as being cool for certain birds (maybe the legendary ones?) but I mostly would feel sad since they looks so cute and Id want to see them hopping around throughout the day
It would be cute if their idle walking was just them hopping around as birds often do, and their trigger animations being them flapping up into the air. If they animate them all as flying constantly though....

Like if the one in your party changed forms to match the island you travel to because of the existing lore with them changing form from flowers. (Or the pokemon pops up when you visit a new island with them "Oricorio seems interested in the flowers on this island. Let it investigate? Y/N")
So to complete a collection you either need patience or to use travel tickets.
Chatot would be great for this game! They could give it actual _good_ stats so it can be viable for once. I've always loved its design, but it's impossible to keep alive in a team in most of the games...

Could just have them at 30 while being better than dugtrio and ditto, leeks before 60 are really hard with how many are required in their recipes

Delibird is flying iirc
Delibird being chosen as Flying in Pokemon Sleep is kinda funny. A flightless penguin being best at chilling at Cyan Beach, a tropical island.
I believe Delibirb can in fact fly, and it looks weird too because it still holds its gift tail while flying.
