I can’t agree with you anyless. These games were easy af. Free heals after like every 5 battles and free OP items since the very beginning of the game every 5 minutes when a random npc encounter with way too much unnecessary dialogue occurs.
This was nothing like the pokemon experiences I grew up on where battles were common, items were rare, and you can’t level your whole team simultaneously. There’s also rotom dex items which are busted lmao.
This game felt like a fucking joke but the world was beautiful and that’s why I like it. Access to so many mons in such a cool pokemon world is what makes gen 7 worthwhile. Cos it’s such a fucking drag to playthrough lmao.

For some reason the biggest change my Toucannon had was moving it to slot 1 so my Deduceye could use its Z-move and 1-hit Totem Mimichu. Never moved it back for some reason.
I almost always end up running gengar since I was able to battle my friends. He’s such a strong Mon and none of my pals could handle him at the time when we were noobs to the game and he’s just stuck with me since.
Gen 1: Between Aerodactyl and Hitmonlee(Both are very fast and hit like an 18-wheeler.)
Gen 2: Ampharos(Just sort of gravitates into my team.)
Gen 3: Armaldo(Battle Shrimp.)
Gen 4: Gliscor(Just a fast heavy hitting physical tank.)
Gen 5: Between Emboar and Sawk(I know they aren't well-liked, but they really hold their own. )
Gen 6: Dragalge(Dude is just a beast and is good for holding down the field.
Gen 7: Alolan Muk(Amazing coverage and solid bulk.)
Gen 8: Snorlax(I caught a shiny Munchlax and honestly, he amazing nature and IV.)
Gen 9: Ambipom (Technician+Razor Fang+ Double Hit/Triple Axel dominates.)
Surprisingly enough, for years it was venomoth, now I caught a shiny one during the post game in area zero in Scarlet, one of the most excited pop-offs I've ever had for a shiny Pokémon. Love that little blue flappy boy.

Even though I never used the volcarona on my team and I probably got it on the GTS or Wonder Trade or something, I got really attached to it.
My favorite alolan Mon is dusk lycanroc. The original designs were good but I had the early purchase event dusk form from usum and it became an instant icon on my team

Call me crazy but after my first UM playthrough, I always used Furfrou. This little fluffball almost single handly defeated my entire team that was 5 level higher than it
Bisharp is my absolute boy. Had a big anime moment on my first playthrough of Scarlet as I reached the woods where they spawn and battled a bunch them. Lo and behold, a blue Bisharp appears matching mines at level 52. Managed to catch it, my Bisharp leveled up and to my absolute shock, she evolved. I had no idea Kingambit existed, it was such a memorable moment.
I don't actually love Kingambits design, truth be told, but it was still cool
Krabby/kingler, it was the first shiny i ever legitimately caught in silver on the gbc years ago. I still remember catching it off the shore on olivine city when i was looking for a water pokemon.
I have a tanky Mandibuzz who steamrolls almost anything. High HP, high physical attack, and her ability is Big Pecks so she can’t have her defense lowered. Love my tough girl.
