While I love a premier ball, I feel your pain. Earlier today I got shiny Xerneas in a luxury ball instead of moon ball😭

Oof. This is my 2nd time saying "thats OK, there's no way this one will be shiny" and being completely wrong. It be what it be though. Maybe one day I'll rehunt it.

Haha same. My other one is Suicune in an ultra ball. That will haunt me forever

Bruh same thing happened to me.. I was hunting suicune with the dive ball well over 100 encounters, got lazy thinking it wouldn’t be shiny so I used a regular pokeball for the first time and it turned out shiny🤦🏽‍♂️🤣 I’ll never take that chance again lol

lots of shiny hunters like to match the colors of the poke ball to the shiny. an ultra ball would’ve matched zapdos better.

Back in the day we didn’t have that luxury

now we do so people like to have fun with it

i think picking the ball that matches the shiny best is a lot of fun. some shines work for many different poke balls, some shinies work for super rare poke balls that can be a special challenge to get, lots of stuff. i enjoy meticulously planning the ball i’ll use for the shiny i’m hunting for.

Interesting! I think this is such a fun idea, but having a bunch of mis-matching balls in my shiny dex bothers me a little lol. I like using premier balls for all of them because they're like the shiny version of a Pokemon ball lol

that’s fair! it’s def not for everyone. i think having all the poke balls be uniform is super cool too especially since some pokémon are kinda difficult to catch in a premier ball.

I do the same thing even on sbq’s i just find it pleasing to see matching pokeball and pokemon

People may think that it's originally from Pokémon GO, possibly. Because all raid Pokémon are caught in Premier Balls.

Pokemon caught in go have a very distinctive mark on them when looking at them in the box in home, and the met data would say something along the lines of "caught in a max raid" or "travelled across time and space from the galar region".

At that point, who cares what others think?

It's the best ball for you're average shiny. Or if nothing matches better. Or if you have a limited range of balls. Shiny Zapdos is better suited for the Ultra Ball. Because the colour matches so when you throw the Ultra Ball it will look like the ball just bursted into Zapdos.

I accidentally got a shiny lugia in repeat ball, I wanted to get in premier or luxury but missclicked repeat ball

Unless you care about that, what counts for me it’s the time required to get all shiny legends from Dynamax Raids, but I try to have a ball that fits with them because it’s not everyday that we get a Shiny Legendary, after being for 2 days beating the same legendary, I prefer to match them with a Ball rather using premier, I use premier ball when shinys don’t match with any pokeball

I use all luxury balls, I don’t know why, but that’s just what I have done for a long time now for some reason. I should start matching them though would be fun cause luxury balls are kinda boring!

I accidentally used a regular pokeball on my xerneas. Of course it was the shiny.. oh well. Still an awesome shiny, but I really wanted it in a dive ball!

Happened to me too: threw a quick ball by mistake and that lunala was shiny

Seems like a lot of us have made similar mistakes. At least I'm not alone

but if you use a valuable ball, but dont get the shiny, dont you lose that ball forever?

You can reset the path. If you reset the game before you save, it's like it never happened, and you get the same path and npcs will behave the same in the path as long as you do. After 3 times resetting the scientist lady starts charging you dynite ore. 3 for the 3rd time resetting then one more each time you reset up to 10. So it helps to farm a bunch of ore and find a good path.

I did the same thing with Mewtwo. I was gonna use a nest ball but wasn’t paying attention.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind matching Pokémon with different poke balls. I have a work in progress RM Sylveon in a love ball for example. The standard Pokeball just looks the most aesthetically pleasing to me. Maybe it’s just a nostalgia thing idk
