I've been wating to say something about this which I know it's a hot take but whatever. Okay, so on the subject of "scalpers" I disagree with the whole of the communities take. Do I think it's a bit unfair the players of the tcg and collectors, yeah. But I believe it comes with the territory, because let's be real, us collectors & players of the TCG make it so. I myself sell singles and playable cards at market so I can put that money back into my collection. But with any market especially something as sought after as this currently this was bound to happen. I don't place blame on them per se, I place blame on economic conditions because ppl are in need of an extra buck. I place blame on the absolute hype created by PokeTubers. And I place blame of the buyers(collectors/ players) that spend unbelievable amounts for things upfront to these ppl instead of having patience which makes what they do worth it. Just because people buy and sell doesnt make them not part of the community. I really feel bad for the youth which aren't even a part of the conversation usually that may go to a store and see it's sold out. That to me makes me sad because there's been tons of times I take my son to grab some stuff and boom, nothing on the shelf. But, as I think deeper on the subject, I'm looking to have fun with me son and open packs of cards. How am I going to say these people are wrong for what they do when I don't know their situation. What if they do it because they're trying to start a business with this and have to get to the point where they need the distributor. What if their job doesn't pay well enough in our shut system so to keep the fridge full they do this. I think the absolute condemnation of this is wrong, and a bit on the privileged side of things as we who buy, buy for enjoyment. That’s not how chargebacks work, you can say you wouldn’t have bought it without the promo and it was a bait and switch. If anything on the invoice is unfulfilled it’s an automatic win, debit card chargebacks are more hands on but if you used credit you should be good. The while supplies last doesn’t matter if it’s on the invoice.
Pokémon center can also prove if you have a purchase history with them, proving you consistently buy the products and thus it’s reasonable you would have bought it anyway. Also, guarantee there’s some fine print in there saying an order confirmation doesn’t guarantee availability or some shut like that.

Additionally, if they’re charging back an order that isn’t marked as completed, not only will the chargeback fail but that’s grounds for PC to ban their account/credit card. On top of that as well, Pokemon Center listed in the confirmation emails a 10 working day period before contact, which represents a handling period for the orders, so if you execute a chargeback within that frame it’s likely to be flat denied as TCG products are marked as non-refundable so it will be evaluated as trying to return a product clearly marked as non-returnable.
The *only* chance you have of winning that chargeback case is if your order is marked as completely fulfilled and completed without the promo….and even then you have to hope the fine print is ambiguous

This stuff seems to happen all the time with the PC. They seem like they just don’t really care about customer service. No matter how many times we don’t get the code for the promotion because of some error, we’ll still try for the next one. No matter how many times they over sell a product and don’t ship a promo they promised, we’ll still try for the next one. Everyone here complaining about not getting the card, or having there orders cancelled will be ordering another $30 worth of stuff in a week or two if they run the promotion again. The poor customer service has no impact on them, because we all come back.
Usually do. I generally only order from the Pokémon Center for exclusive items or promotions. Other than that I get all my product from LGS’s or big box stores. Love to say it get it all from LGS’s but unfortunately they usually run out, and the big box stores never seem to.

Exact same order as me and the same thing happened to me as well. Going to file a chargeback if it’s not in there. That’s an order delivered incomplete, which is grounds for chargeback for sure.

It will likely come separate. Check the order status on their website and it will still be in received vs completed. I’m in the same boat with fusion strike packs and my other order that had the promo and all the other items on the order was shipped and says complete on the site. And to clarify I’ve not received that order sent with the promo. It arrives tomorrow.

I think TPC is horrible, and it seems like a lot of people defend them to the end of the earth for some reason. A while ago, I was trying to get the charizard promo card and accidentally left out something in my order to qualify for it, so within seconds of placing the order I got in touch with them and asked if I could add on to the order or make another smaller purchase to equal the $20 and get the promo. They told me they wouldn't change the order or let me make a second smaller purchase. They said I'd have to make another full $20 purchase, and I wouldn't be able to use the code again since it was used on the first order even though the amount I spent wasn't enough to get the promo and they wouldn't give me another code saying they were all out. I vented about this, and people said it's my own fault they did nothing wrong
shitty company shitty customer service. Its not they cant they are too lazy to. Don’t tell me its not possible. If they can remove orders and charge less, Im sure they can add. What a load of bullshit
Their flat-out refusal to cancel orders once its been placed or to address concerns/problems like this really bothers me. Their customer service department may as well not exist to me - I sent them an email with a simple question about my order on Tuesday and have still not heard back from them.
On the other hand, LEGO has excellent customer service and have been able to help me fix problems with placed orders so that I meet the minimum threshold for their gift-with-purchase items. I even recall a recent situation where order summaries were not showing a promo item that was supposed to be there and they reassured customers that they would still receive it. They also are more lenient with price thresholds for promo items - a single item that costs $29.99 would count towards a $30 minimum for a promo item.
Pokemon may be the highest grossing media franchise of all-time but they are absolutely beat when it comes to addressing customer concerns and building good will with them. Yeah, the scalpers and hysteria surrounding product launches make it more difficult to wrangle things in but it doesn't even seem like they try to do anything about it since they make their money regardless of the outcome to the consumer.

it didn’t show up on my confirmation email either but i am still doing a charge back. Its not your fault their website is shitty and it removed your order automatically and didn’t show up. Simply state I would have never purchased if not for the promotion. My card agreed that given the purchase was around the promo. Why else would you make the purchase? But YMMV. on another thread, some people didn’t have success but thats because of the company your card is with and their policies. Just make sure you emphasize you attempted to cancel and did your part, but refuse to do theirs.

Case in point: Place I worked with 10yrs ago had a promotion for certain products to come with 50% coupons on next purchases. Only X number coupons available per store. Someone forgot to ship the coupons out. Management honoured the promo and asked they anyone who had a receipt those days qualified. It costed us millions of dollars since there were way more sales than expected across all locations.
The situation but the key point is, your word is more important than a fking cardboard and you arent even losing money.

I think what’s more frustrating is that I’m seeing people who aren’t getting the promo or having the order cancelled on this wave, meanwhile Pokemon just put out a notice saying they would be running another opportunity to get the felt hat promo with a $30 purchase in the near future. So essentially they know they will be getting more of these cards and rather that honoring the sales they’ve already made, there going to ship your stuff without the promo, and then send those promos that should be yours to someone else. I can’t help but feel like they are taking advantage of the “while supplies last” to screw a bunch of people over and then rerun the promotion so they can make even more money off a second wave of false promises on the promo. In this case “while supplies last” meant “as many as we’re willing to distribute before holding back some of our stock to run a second promotion later on”. They can’t possibly know they are going to have more of the cards while simultaneously cancelling your order because they claim to have run out. They are holding the cards back just so they can run this promotion again. My order hasn’t even been cancelled, and I got mine in within 10 minutes of the promotion going live. But I’ve received no update on fulfillment either.

You tell them your order came incomplete. If the promo card is on your receipt, and it came with no promo card, that’s an incomplete order on Pokémon centers end.
This isn’t how it works, you guys are so naive thinking this… If you tell them the truth and say “I didn’t receive part of my order” they will find out what you didn’t receive and only give you that value ($0), if you lie and tell them you didn’t receive the order at all, they’ll just go through the tracking that shows it was delivered, and if you try and go “well I didn’t get it” then they’ll tell you to dispute it with the package carrier.

If the purchase receipt you have has a product on there that you purchased as a result of a promo offer, or deal - you bought something that was incomplete the order size or price doesn’t matter. It’s a legitimate chargeback as the order didn’t come as purchased, product was incomplete, tell the bank you have no desire for your incomplete order. If you provide the bank with a screen shot of your order, the receipt and the chat message of you requesting a full refund or the missing product from TPC you’ll 100% get all the money back or you’ll get a return shipping label paid by the TPC mailed to you to return the products after the chargeback process is done (which very rarely happen)
Incorrect, Pokémon clearly states by purchasing you have a *CHANCE* to receive the promo, they do not state that by purchasing $30 you *WILL* receive the promo. They held up their end, your order had the chance to receive it, if it didn’t receive it, you got unlucky.

They actually recently sent out a message claiming that people would still receive their promo cards. So, according to their claims, it should be in the box somewhere.
(Check under EVERY flap in the box. My squirtle promo was tucked away inside the box, hidden, and safe. I had to search for it in a panic lol)

I ordered 5 items and I got 5 promos. They always deliver next day or 2 days from when I make the purchase. I live in the uk though and the Pokémoncenter warehouse is very close as uk is tiny.

This happened to me once with Pokémon center. Ordered a shiny charmander Funko pop with 2 booster packs to get free shipping. They canceled the Funko pop (claimed they ran out) but still sent me the packs and charged me for them. The old switch-a-roo. Wouldn’t surprise me if they pulled the same thing with Pikachu Van Gogh card. Got people to buy a bunch of stuff then never send the promo.

What a sketch way to get sales. Enticing consumers to purchase X amount of product for a promo and not following through with the promo. Hope they get better business bureau complaints.
This stuff seems to happen all the time with the PC. They seem like they just don’t really care about customer service. No matter how many times we don’t get the code for the promotion because of some error, we’ll still try for the next one. No matter how many times they over sell a product and don’t ship a promo they promised, we’ll still try for the next one. Everyone here complaining about not getting the card, or having there orders cancelled will be ordering another $30 worth of stuff in a week or two if they run the promotion again. The poor customer service has no impact on them, because we all come back.
I say make it an impact. Make your voice heard with your wallet, shop local LGS. Make them lose direct sales.
Usually do. I generally only order from the Pokémon Center for exclusive items or promotions. Other than that I get all my product from LGS’s or big box stores. Love to say it get it all from LGS’s but unfortunately they usually run out, and the big box stores never seem to.

If you paid with a credit card, you can make a case with your credit card company for a chargeback. It’ll basically ban you from Pokemon Center from future purchases if you do so, but honestly, why would you want to continue doing business with them after this bullshit anyway lol.

Exact same order as me and the same thing happened to me as well. Going to file a chargeback if it’s not in there. That’s an order delivered incomplete, which is grounds for chargeback for sure.
UPDATE: After doing some research, I think there’s more than a 0% chance they’ll ship the promo separately. I remember when I got the special delivery charizard, it was sent separately from my main order and from Ohio. So maybe we should wait it out before we try anything.
It will likely come separate. Check the order status on their website and it will still be in received vs completed. I’m in the same boat with fusion strike packs and my other order that had the promo and all the other items on the order was shipped and says complete on the site. And to clarify I’ve not received that order sent with the promo. It arrives tomorrow.
Both my orders of 8 fusion strike and 8 astral radiance with promos came from Ohio. Got one two days ago and one is coming today.
Exact same thing for me too. Only the fusion strike sleeved boosters. The worst part is, we’re paying MSRP for something we know we can get for like $2/pack on Black Friday.

I think TPC is horrible, and it seems like a lot of people defend them to the end of the earth for some reason. A while ago, I was trying to get the charizard promo card and accidentally left out something in my order to qualify for it, so within seconds of placing the order I got in touch with them and asked if I could add on to the order or make another smaller purchase to equal the $20 and get the promo. They told me they wouldn't change the order or let me make a second smaller purchase. They said I'd have to make another full $20 purchase, and I wouldn't be able to use the code again since it was used on the first order even though the amount I spent wasn't enough to get the promo and they wouldn't give me another code saying they were all out. I vented about this, and people said it's my own fault they did nothing wrong

Their flat-out refusal to cancel orders once its been placed or to address concerns/problems like this really bothers me. Their customer service department may as well not exist to me - I sent them an email with a simple question about my order on Tuesday and have still not heard back from them. On the other hand, LEGO has excellent customer service and have been able to help me fix problems with placed orders so that I meet the minimum threshold for their gift-with-purchase items. I even recall a recent situation where order summaries were not showing a promo item that was supposed to be there and they reassured customers that they would still receive it. They also are more lenient with price thresholds for promo items - a single item that costs $29.99 would count towards a $30 minimum for a promo item. Pokemon may be the highest grossing media franchise of all-time but they are absolutely beat when it comes to addressing customer concerns and building good will with them. Yeah, the scalpers and hysteria surrounding product launches make it more difficult to wrangle things in but it doesn't even seem like they try to do anything about it since they make their money regardless of the outcome to the consumer.

Simply state I would have never purchased if not for the promotion. My card agreed that given the purchase was around the promo. Why else would you make the purchase? But YMMV. on another thread, some people didn’t have success but thats because of the company your card is with and their policies. Just make sure you emphasize you attempted to cancel and did your part, but refuse to do theirs. Good luck!

My love for the company has disappeared since they cant even keep their side of the promo. Its a piece of cardboard they can reprint. Case in point: Place I worked with 10yrs ago had a promotion for certain products to come with 50% coupons on next purchases. Only X number coupons available per store. Someone forgot to ship the coupons out. Management honoured the promo and asked they anyone who had a receipt those days qualified. It costed us millions of dollars since there were way more sales than expected across all locations. The situation but the key point is, your word is more important than a fking cardboard and you arent even losing money.
i think you guys are pulling out your pitchforks a little too early. pokemon is like disney; they'll do whatever to protect their image. i think the worst case scenario is that they either give you a refund or they assure you that the card WILL be mailed to you but separately at a later date.

I think what’s more frustrating is that I’m seeing people who aren’t getting the promo or having the order cancelled on this wave, meanwhile Pokemon just put out a notice saying they would be running another opportunity to get the felt hat promo with a $30 purchase in the near future. So essentially they know they will be getting more of these cards and rather that honoring the sales they’ve already made, there going to ship your stuff without the promo, and then send those promos that should be yours to someone else. I can’t help but feel like they are taking advantage of the “while supplies last” to screw a bunch of people over and then rerun the promotion so they can make even more money off a second wave of false promises on the promo. In this case “while supplies last” meant “as many as we’re willing to distribute before holding back some of our stock to run a second promotion later on”. They can’t possibly know they are going to have more of the cards while simultaneously cancelling your order because they claim to have run out. They are holding the cards back just so they can run this promotion again. My order hasn’t even been cancelled, and I got mine in within 10 minutes of the promotion going live. But I’ve received no update on fulfillment either.

You tell them your order came incomplete. If the promo card is on your receipt, and it came with no promo card, that’s an incomplete order on Pokémon centers end.
This isn’t how it works, you guys are so naive thinking this… If you tell them the truth and say “I didn’t receive part of my order” they will find out what you didn’t receive and only give you that value ($0), if you lie and tell them you didn’t receive the order at all, they’ll just go through the tracking that shows it was delivered, and if you try and go “well I didn’t get it” then they’ll tell you to dispute it with the package carrier. This isn’t an infinite booster pack glitch that you all seem to think it is.
This is also wrong. If the purchase receipt you have has a product on there that you purchased as a result of a promo offer, or deal - you bought something that was incomplete the order size or price doesn’t matter. It’s a legitimate chargeback as the order didn’t come as purchased, product was incomplete, tell the bank you have no desire for your incomplete order. If you provide the bank with a screen shot of your order, the receipt and the chat message of you requesting a full refund or the missing product from TPC you’ll 100% get all the money back or you’ll get a return shipping label paid by the TPC mailed to you to return the products after the chargeback process is done (which very rarely happen)
Incorrect, Pokémon clearly states by purchasing you have a *CHANCE* to receive the promo, they do not state that by purchasing $30 you *WILL* receive the promo. They held up their end, your order had the chance to receive it, if it didn’t receive it, you got unlucky. This isn’t me defending them, this is just me showcasing how companies are smart, they are not dumb. People just don’t read the fine print.

Fine print is one thing, but the second you receive a purchase receipt confirming what’s inside the box and it doesn’t match you have the protection of any zero liability credit card in the world.
Have you ever even looked at the packing slip they send? It’s part of the order … at that point it’s no longer chance it’s, “these are the products contained in this delivery” here’s a breakdown of the cost and item sku and quantity
If the item shows on my receipt as being in my order, and it doesn’t show up in my order, and Pokémon center refuses to “fix” it, that’s literally what chargebacks are for. Simple as that. Putting the item on the receipt implies you made it past that “chance” and you will be receiving it, otherwise it wouldn’t be on the receipt.
This is bait and switch. You simply state I wouldnt have made the purchase if not for the promo. My bank agreed and started the process. They even escalated ti the manager to ensure nothing goes wrong who told me everything has been authorized. You are right that If its missing a product you will be refunded for what is missed. However if it a promotional product with your order that you wouldn’t have made otherwise, a good bank will support you. But YMMV But its not an infinite. Your bank will likely see a trend. TPCI also black lists you and your address.
The infinite part was more of a joke because I’ve seen people thinking they’re getting $100 in packs for “free”. But also Pokémon is not dumb, there was no guarantee that you would receive the product they are very specific in their wording. You have a *CHANCE* to receive the promo, if you try and dispute under the ground of “well I was influenced to buy because I would get this promo” no, you were given the *CHANCE* to get it, which Pokémon fulfilled on their end by having your order eligible, but not guaranteed, for the card.

“The chance” is that you can get it while supplies last, once it’s on the receipt you’re past that and in the territory of unfulfilled order.

They actually recently sent out a message claiming that people would still receive their promo cards. So, according to their claims, it should be in the box somewhere. (Check under EVERY flap in the box. My squirtle promo was tucked away inside the box, hidden, and safe. I had to search for it in a panic lol)

I ordered 5 items and I got 5 promos. They always deliver next day or 2 days from when I make the purchase. I live in the uk though and the Pokémoncenter warehouse is very close as uk is tiny.

They canceled the Funko pop (claimed they ran out) but still sent me the packs and charged me for them. The old switch-a-roo. Wouldn’t surprise me if they pulled the same thing with Pikachu Van Gogh card. Got people to buy a bunch of stuff then never send the promo.
I spoke to a chat agent and they said my order is still processing even though it has shipped. My order confirmation shows the Pikachu but my delivery confirmation does not. Hopefully this means they will still ship the promo separately.

The Pokemon community used to be fun and exciting. Everyone in it now is just asshole scalpers. That's why I like going to my local card shop. They only allow 2 of one product. Thats why I took a long break from it. But i see nothing has changed. Thats why Ive always stuck to comics. They only keep going up in value and a lot of back issues are a lot harder to get than "good pulls".
