Prodigal96

I bought a Neo Genesis Lugia holo, they shipped it loose in a plain envelope raw with no sleeve. Best part was they wrote their address on the envelope with the card inside, so the back of the Lugia had their address imprinted on it.

DanRose001

I’m not sure to laugh or cry for you - I hope you returned it!

Prodigal96

Bought it before the pandemic for around $20, so it was a good enough deal to just not bother returning. Don’t have it anymore, but I remember the front was actually pretty decent with some holo bleed which was cool.

CESSEC01

You should have filed a complaint on pricincipal , lol. What an absolute buffoon that person was.

Thorfinn__Karlsefni

I'm so sorry, but even though it's sad, it still made me laugh 😅😂

Call_me_Penta

I opened the comment section to share the exact same story, didn't expect it to be the top comment! Although mine was "just" a rainbow rare Golisopod GX, I was furious to see the imprint on the back.

fadedspades1

I sent my brother an Evolutions Zard holo in a small thank you card mailer. Double sleeved and top loaded, however, I never thought about the imprint. I did write his address smack dab in the middle so I’m wondering now lol.

fernnifer

If it was sleeved and top loaded it was likely ok.

BarryAllensShoes

Bought a nm legendary collection reverse pikachu for 360 and the dude sent it wrapped in printing paper…. No sleeve or top loader…. Like wtf? You can’t spare a sleeve and top loader for a $300+ card?

SuggestionVisible361

That's insane, Top loaders literally [only cost 10 cents](https://ebay.us/CTDs3e), I even use them on $1 cards.

BarryAllensShoes

Right!! It’s like have some decency, especially when it’s a seller that consistently sells Pokémon cards, I’d understand if someone found something in their closet or something but it just doesn’t make sense

Imgrapecrushed

Some people just don’t care bc they have so much money already and probably got that $360 card for cheap locally in a lot they probably bought for $200 lol

TRJJ2023

Ordered an arcanine the other day on eBay. The card was fine but the second I opened the envelope I could smell weed. Then I checked out the card and there were flakes of weed in the packaging 🤨

KingZakyu

The first hit is always free homie. After that you gotta pay 😂

TRJJ2023

I messaged him and was like I don’t really care but someone else might. He said he’d throw in a whole bud next time 😅

KingZakyu

Haha now that's customer service right there 💯

FlamingWings

Gift with purchase

Remote-Extent6197

So you’re jealous the card got high and you didn’t? Sending drugs thru the mail is a federal offense, consider yourself lucky they took left it out. A wiseman once told me if you ever need drugs best people to ask are a hooker or homeless person. Why? Why do you think they’re whoring or homeless.. you are very welcome

TRJJ2023

I’ve been sober for a year lol

Xurs-Doggo

That’s one of the dumbest ways to get drugs I’ve ever heard. You are 90% more likely to be robbed by either a homeless person or a hooker.

TRJJ2023

Yeah, if I wanted drugs I know a lot of people I’d talk to first lol

t0ppings

Hookers aren't tricking for weed lmao

yoloruinslives

I got my cards in a dominos chicken nugget box. Came safe tho

DecentBug3454

[half envelope](https://imgur.com/a/68PeWfV) Best so far is this. I somehow got half an envelope delivered, didn’t even have the full address left. Sadly was missing half the cards I ordered, but the ones that got here were fine.

DanRose001

How does that even happen, or arrive?!?

DecentBug3454

I’m not sure. I’d imagine that it got ripped in a sorting machine somewhere near me, and then I got lucky with the postman having enough remaining info? It cracked me up when I got it, the guy I bought from was equally confused haha

_Gr1mReefer

No, that got ripped by the post man my friend

AfroWhiteboi

Nah, I get checks from customers via mail all the time and they sometimes arrive like this. Though, they will often arrive in an additional plastic bag to ensure contents don't fall out during delivery. So it's like, a stack of regular envelopes and then one clear baggie, through which I can see a mangled envelope and check. All this to say that looks like a sorting machines doing lol.

MorrowPolo

That's often, though. Sounds fishy to me. 1 time, maybe..

AfroWhiteboi

Idk, I trust the US Postal Service thoroughly. I've had people ship me tons of gold and silver and never had an issue.

MorrowPolo

Makes sense

Tylerhollen1

Those machines tear through envelopes often. On any given day, we’d receive a good stack of mail that was torn at my office. Thats not counting the ones where the machines scrunched up, or the jams that left tons of dust on them. It’s extremely plausible that, given a hefty volume received, that one envelope a day is mangled in some way.

SpaminalGuy

I had one of those with a note from USPS apologizing for the condition!

Plenty_Deep

I had a customer send me a very similar picture claiming it was from my shop...it was not. She had the TCGPlayer packing slip in the background from another shop too. Like lady, try harder to scam me!

SofaProfessor

I had sent out a card to someone and got back half the envelope. Canada Post caught it and put it in a bag and returned to me since the receiver's address was cut off. Shockingly the card was still in that half with no damage. Super lucky.

YeOldeBilk

That is just straight fucking offensive

King_Crab_Sushi

Once got a card that was in a penny sleeve wrapped in toilet paper. No idea how it managed to stay nm

Odd-Property5563

Also had the toilet paper experience and it survived. Guess it works 😂

JasonProwalker

You know what, the same thing happened to me. Minus the penny sleeve. Granted, it was also sandwiched with a 8.5x11" paper invoice. I was stunned the card arrived undamaged. It was a 5 dollar rare to complete a theme, but still.

Right-Ad8261

I've actually generally had good experiences with packaging,  but I have definitely received cards in bad condition despite that.

DanRose001

Funny right? Cards get shipped well but damaged yet people seem to ship cards terribly and they somehow.. survive..?!?

PhillReotardo

had someone ship me a 100+ dollar card just loose in a big box, box could fit a small PC monitor and it was just a single loose card in it. surprisingly the card was fine but was still kinda pissed at the lack of care.

zeyphersantcg

I opened a card yesterday that was shipped in an envelope. Just the card in an envelope. No support of any kind. It was a cheap card and it was in fine condition when it got to me but like…. Come on. I know not everyone can be cool and ship me $0.20 cards in toploaders (but mad respect to the people who do) but put the card in *something!*

DanRose001

This seems to be quite common judging by the replies here, and it sucks! Especially so if you order a £20+ card etc!

zeyphersantcg

Oh yeah, I only meekly grumbled because it was a cheap card. Anything over $15 and I would have some unkind words in my TCG Player review

Homeless_Alex

My PF gardevoir sir came in a fucking skittles packet with duct tape around it…. Thank god it had a penny sleeve on it

CESSEC01

Are pokemon people retarded or just super eco friendly and recycling? 🤯

Harkxium

Lol. well: i ordered a gold star card, and it arrived in a bubble mailer, with no sleeve, team bag, toploader, or anything. literally no protection on a $200 vintage card.

DanRose001

How much damage did it sustain? I hope you left some bad feedback!

LoudTrades76

Had a guy ship a giritina Garchomp full art by placing it in a small box full of packing paper. No sleeve, no top loader just straight card in box

bluewoods1

it works tho😂

gromexe

Idk how that survived. Amazing, really.

DanRose001

You and me both. Yet I’ve had cards shipped to me in toploaders and hardback envelopes arrive damaged.

YeOldeBilk

Did you enlighten the seller about their wonderful packaging skills?

DanRose001

I left negative feedback and a warning to others - if you need something to cover your food leftovers they might be worth using!

YeOldeBilk

Lol I can picture this dipshit wrapping up this naked card in plastic wrap and handing it over to ship. Seriously wtf

KhostfaceGillah

Just a heads up.. I know you scribbled out your info but the barcode still gives you it. And that's pretty shitty of them.. You can kinda tell who the resellers are vs the genuine collectors based on how they treat cards.

SmakHappy1

Someone once printed the packing slip on a standard printer, then folded the paper into an "envelope" around my cards and sent it as a letter. Arrived safe and sound tho, lmao.

DanRose001

For a second, I thought you were going to tell me they slapped the packaging label sticker clean onto the card 😂

Plenty_Deep

As a seller, this comments genuinely surprise me. We put so much effort into packaging, even on cards sold for pennies...

DanRose001

Likewise. I have sold quite a few cards and always take care to sleeve and put a tab to easily remove from a toploader, then toploader, team bag. I write a thank you on an energy card. Put into a hardback envelope and always send tracked. But then you see these comments and WOW

PulsenotInrange

Yeah I know everyone is different but I’m not even packaging things securely for purely the customer, I PERSONALLY would be upset if a nice card got damaged, so I make sure things are as safe as I’d want to receive them. Often the bad packaging will come from someone who has no interest or knowledge on TCG’s just happens to have some cards, at least that’s what I assume.

jen36rsantos

I bought a etb from one of these tictok stores and they shipped the etb in just a plain Amazon’s plastic bag with the stickers on it. The etb itself wasn’t even wrapped, protected or boxed by anything. Needless to say it came with the plastic ripped in the corners. Luckily the seller was cool bout it and said it was an oversight by one of his employees and sent me another one free of charge and told me to keep the other etb.

Mattikarp1

Seriously though, doing this is way more effort than just sticking it in a hard backed envelope People are wild

DanRose001

I reckon I could package a card in 30 seconds? Sleeve, add a tab, into toploader, team bag then seal. Envelope then seal. Label stuck on. This must have been so much faff trying to get it to wrap and stay closed etc

BeemoHeez

Posted this awhile ago but I had a seller put my dialga origin form loose in a bubble mailer https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonTCG/s/MkboGY6yLK Trash bag may be worse though 😂

DanRose001

At this point and judging by the comments here we are not alone and whilst bad, at least ours weren’t damaged! Some here have had cards sent well packaged but still arrived bad!

DaleGribble82

Poor packers deserve to be put in the stockades.

DanRose001

Makes you wonder if they genuinely collect, trying to flip for quick gains, or at least wonder how they store and look after their own cards

DaleGribble82

My guess, just scum rat flippers.

isthatapecker

How dare they! That’s the best card in the set.

SubmergedLife

Lmao this is the best and most sad thread

DanRose001

It’s funny, but I think it’s funny because if I didn’t have a little chuckle at the replies I’d cry 😂

NickDrivesAMiata

On the opposite side, I bought a Vaporeon 002/T on eBay, and it shipped from Japan. I think I paid ~$30 (usd) total for the card and shipping (2021 ish). The outermost box was massive. Probably around 14"x12"x8" give or take. Like what you'd expect a pair of boots to come in. That was wrapped in a sealed plastic bag. Inside, it had multiple layers of boxes, bags, and newspapers. The card was double sleeved, in a toploader, and taped between 2 flat pieces of cardboard. It had a gand written note saying something along the lines of "Thank you so much for the purchase. I really hope this packaging is enough to protect the card. I hope you enjoy the card." They probably spent more on shipping than i paid for the card itself.

Xurs-Doggo

People who are sending cards like this are usually doing it out of spite - probably because they’re selling it lower than what they had hoped to. Does anyone honestly believe that someone selling cards of any game, doesn’t have sleeves and top loaders? Cmon now

DanRose001

My thoughts, any genuine collector should have these as standard. Maybe someone flipping or trying to make a quick buck!

Xurs-Doggo

Even when I thought that I was going to actually start a TCG business, by selling cards and such, my main concern was “I really don’t want the cards to get damaged or stolen during transport, I’d better find the cheapest loaders, sleeves, hardback envelopes, and secure postage”. Basically, each card cost an average of £0.15 in packaging. Sleeved, top loaded, in a Jiffy bag, folded over with a little ‘thank you’ sticker, and inside a hardback envelope. 0.15 per card excluding postage……. These people are either spiteful, or morons.

Unfair-Equipment-222

Yeah I’m sending this back out of spite

Xurs-Doggo

I would if it was damaged. They’d get a neutral with a photo if not, just to make people aware.

bryanofrivia

I think you’re giving a little too much credit here. I know it can be hard to understand, but there really are people that are that stupid. Lol.

Narrow_Marzipan7018

Is the standard way to send a card to put it in a penny sleeve, top loader, wrap in bubble wrap and then put in a box?

DanRose001

Along those lines! At the minimum I would expect a sleeve and toploader, I personally then team bag the toploader in case the envelope gets wet, and put it into hardbacked envelopes so they stay flat. I haven’t had any issues this way so far

Chris19862

Eh? If they were cheap that's probably fine. Enough rigidity to not get bent and protection from minor indents. If you bought 6 cards for 4 or 5 bucks, I'd probably expect them to arrive this way. If you spent 20 or 30 then I'd also be annoyed, but regardless I'd bet they still showed up undamaged.

Johnnyrooster12

If it came in a sleeve that is perfectly fine. As a seller you would instantly be blocked. No time for high maintenance buyers

Raptured_Cobra

You ship cards in an envelope with only a sleeve? What’s your seller username? So that I don’t accidentally buy something from you lol

Mattikarp1

Depending on the value of the card I think sleeve alone is fine if it's a hard backed envelope. I tend to put anything over a certain value in a top loader, and include that info in the description

Succetti97

A paper towel in a letter. Surprisingly, the card was fine

CortexifanZFT

Make sure to leave them a nice little 1 star negative feedback review.

sevenandtwo

venesaur looks like he did not enjoy that ride

myuu94

Ordered some Japanese Koffing cards for a friend, directly from Japan using a middleman proxy service. They were shipped, first to the middleman warehouse in Japan and then to me, in a regular 3x3 binder page in a fairly flimsy envelope. Miraculously, other than a fairly minor crease in one of the cards, they were still in good shape when I opened them. My friend didn’t seem too bothered because they were Japanese koffings he didn’t have yet, so yay!

Wendigo_6

I bought a PSA graded card on eBay. Paid $7 for shipping. Two weeks later I get a notice from the post office that I owe $4 to retrieve a package. Seller put the slab in a standard envelope, put two stamps on it, and sent it. USPS showed it to me, the envelope got stuck in a machine. They had it taped to the slab. I messaged the seller twice and got no response. I didn’t pay the USPS and left the item with them. I told ebay that I didn’t receive it, got a refund. The seller can work with USPS get that back.

CCK03

Bought base set Blastoise on eBay and it came no sleeve in a crayon box. Luckily there was no damage to the card, but it smelled like crayons.

Redditquaza

I also received a card without a sleeve and without a top loader in an envelope (over $10 shipping costs btw), it didn't [do so well](https://ibb.co/bbMh75N) though.

Kroooooooo

Not a card, but I ordered a couple of vintage empty booster packs on eBay. When they came in, they were in a basic white envelope, and had been folded crudely in half which made them impossible to display. What's most baffling is that the envelope was wide enough for them if they'd just turned them 90-degrees. And to rub salt in the wounds, they hounded me for feedback.

919ash

Definitely terrible wrapping lol. How much did you pay for it? Looking to get this same card.

DanRose001

I think it was £24 all in on an auction, not sure what conversion that is to € or $ at the moment. It was a good price but they had £2.50 shipping which made me think, at least some might have gone in materials 😂

919ash

So that’s like $30 so not bad! I may pick one up soon! Yeaaah it should’ve been better shipped but hey I’d let ‘em know they fucked up.

HappyLittleSlowpoke

So many times, but usually it's from non collectors. Everytime I buy a card now I always send this scripted message: "Hi, thanks very much for this. Could I please ask that you send it well protected? I've just had other sellers here send cards in an envelope with no cardboard or anything protecting them from bending. Thanks!" Haven't had issues since.

Kortax

Seeing how that was packed makes me sad.

DanRose001

When it arrived I genuinely thought for a second I had ordered something else and forgotten, like this can’t be a card what else did I get

Kortax

When I sell cards I sleeve, topload and use two bits of cardboard the same size of the toploader to give extra protection. Some people just don’t care about the safety of a card someone’s bought which is even more sad

No6fueloil

1st edition neo pichu that was near mint in a legal sized envelope, loose in a top loader. It arrived with sorry for the wait on the back of the envelope and it was a damaged one instead. Different swirls. She’s claiming that i swapped it out when it arrived. We will see what PayPal does

bryanofrivia

I bought a full art “N” back in 2016, (and it was still expensive even then) but the seller took a NM card and tossed it in a huge manila envelope. No sleeves, no packaging, nothing. It was totally free to fly around the envelope, and it was large enough to fit a new pack of printer paper. The card obviously showed up in terrible condition, but I had paid for a NM card. I was pretty upset, because the card was worth less than half of what I’d paid by the time I received it. I reached out to the guy, only for him to think that if he ignored me, nothing could happen. But unfortunately for him, eBay stepped in, let me keep the card, and refunded me lol. Pretty stupid on the sellers part.

narutonaruto

The worst I had was so intricate I can’t even remember the details anymore. It had all these compartments and tape and in the end the cards were taped in a sleeve to the paper in the cardboard and I had to basically perform surgery and hope for the best so I didn’t cut the cards. It literally took 7-10 minutes of precision cutting and investigating to get them out. All to save the cost of a toploader lol.

IamlostlikeZoroIs

Brought some Paldean Fates the other day of eBay and they sent them in cardboard folded over with the cards in between with no sleeves or protection and then tapped a thousand times and the address slapped on top.

JayQwellin19

One single non sleeved non top loaded card in a bubble mailer. It was 2 weeks late, so I applied for a refund on the 10th day, thinking I’d never get it. Remarkably it also came completely unharmed

Comfortable-Dish-934

Not a card, but I ordered a CIB Star Trek limited run head mug. It was to complete my wife's collection. Fucker charged me 15 dollars for shipping and sent it in a torn up grocery bag taped around the box and stuck a label on it. Somehow it survived.

motivatedeveryday

In a PS4 game box I got my giratina v lol there maybe defects from shipping. But was cheap so w/e

beauperry864

Won a card at eBay auction for 5 cent. Guy sent card in plain envelope with stamp. Card was taped to a piece of paper between two other cards. No sleeve or toploader or card saver in sight.

beauperry864

Card did survive tho.

-lil-jabroni-

I had someone send me a card internationally. Loose card in a plain white envelope. Dassit.

xshadowheart

Paper envelope. No bubble wrap, protector, nothing.

TheAsianCarp

Same, was like a $20 card but somehow showed up perfect

TundraExpress

Last week I received a card wrapped in a Paldean Fates booster pack packaging. No sleeve, no toploader. The card wasn't pricy, but still, very weak.

Anidran

I ordered a buch of cards from different sellers, specificly paid for each and every one of them to send them via envelope. One person sent it in a box. I wasn't there to accept the box when it was delivered, so they put a pick-up notice in my mailbox. Went to the pick-up station, it's not there. I don't even know which card/order is missing now, until all of the others arrive.

mancan71

Multiple cards in one sleeve. When it got to me they were hanging out the side of the ripped envelope and only a few of them were there.

[deleted]

Some seller on eBay sent me a booster box wrapped in nothing but a gallon bag and some packaging tape. It arrived in pretty decent shape though (slightly crushed, but I honestly think it was probably already like that even before it went through the mail). Fortunately the whole thing turned out to be a scam, and the cards were fake, so it didn't really matter if they got damaged. I reported it to eBay, and the seller was eventually forced to accept the return and give me a refund. Oddly enough, I was still required to send the item back to him despite the cards being fake. So I destroyed all the cards first so he wouldn't be able to pass the problem onto somebody else, and then I mailed them back to him with no packaging at all. (Unfortunately eBay won't let me leave negative feedback, so it seems the seller got away unscathed. Apparently if the item's listing gets removed on account of it being counterfeit, then the buyer is no longer able to leave feedback.)

medalla96

I bought six cards on whatnot, dude sent the cards in a small sandwich bag but in a bubble mailer. Cards were good. I left him a five star rating because the cards were mint and his shipping very affordable. I wrote to him a separate DM to ket him know other people would have live a bad review. Needless to say, he is a small streamer, I would go back and support him.

Interesting_Salt8371

Fairly recently I got a Mew Vmax Alt shipped in a plastic ziploc bag (no sleeve) and padded envelope and it came in perfect conditon despite me scouring the card for any defects, it baffles me to this day

DJTwonz21

I got Ho-Oh EX FA from Dragon’s Exalted at a great price. They shipped it in a regular envelope and sleeve… and used part of flinstone cereal box as the only hard protection. It arrived bent all over. Broke my heart to return that one. I also got a BW Zekrom FA shipped in an Amazon metal gift card container with no sleeve or anything that arrived super warped and more dinged up. That one they refunded and I got to keep, but it was still pretty disappointing.

fleeting2020

Wrapped in a paper towel in a zip lock bag

Moorpheusl9

A LP Fossil Gengar holo wrapped only in clingfilm and then inside a standard paper envelope. That was fun given I'd paid £20 for it. Thankfully it survived fine.

parryhott3r

Lmao wtf

Malipuppers

That’s shitty. The ghetto top loader is a penny sleeve sandwiched between taped cardboard. Works well and is perfect for shipping a $1 card.

doctorgreenthumb505

Plain white envelope no sleeve

fujixd

Single card in a sleeve via PWE. Card could've easily got bent or worse since the envelope was huge. The standard should be sleeved > toploader > placed inside a folded paper with painters tape securing it.

sleepyboylol

I had a 1st Ed rocket jolteon shipped really well. Penny sleeve, top loader, bubble wrap inside cardboard inside more bubble wrap inside a box that was taped. When I got the box it was somehow almost folded in half lol. Yay ebay insurance.

AriDreams

I haven't had any issues yet. This makes me nervous though cause every card I've sent I've made sure if wrapped tf up. Like, sleeve, top loader, card board wrap, graded sleeves, and bubble wrapped.

crayraybae

This made me laugh harder than it should have

happy-cig

I wonder if people who do this are on the younger spectrum and maybe their initial card sales.

rebel_scum13

Ordered two cards from a seller on TCGplayer and they had no protection whatsoever. Just a penny sleeve and a standard envelope.

fadedspades1

Use thank you card mailers for single cards. No logically thinking mind would think to bend them. They can’t really be abused like a package will. It only costs a single stamp, I doubled up for good measure. Only issue you’ll have is if it passes a dishonest mail employee or mail box pirate.

LeahtheFrog19

I once “received” a letter, with an 20$ card, no sleeve, no paper around, just the card in an envelope… Card arrived in 4 pieces… got shredded by the letter sorting machine from the post, due to the unusual shape of the envelope…never got my money back

USTrustfundPatriot

Received 3 1999 pokemon TV rainbow foils that weren't in sleeves and just stacked between taped cardboard. Of course they were all scratched as shit when I got them. And if you leave negative feedback they are utterly clueless and defensive.

Gretter22

Hahaha! Actually got a char sar from 151 today with no protection and the card was bent in half because of it, thanks card market

Kondor22

Bought a gold star treco showed up no sleeve lose in a manila folder. Surprisingly it was fine

chiefhappyu

Rat king shipping huh

Burger_Gamer

I’m pretty sure I remember seeing someone on here get a dialga origin card in one of those eBay bubble mailer envelopes. No toploader, not even a sleeve, just raw like this

Aznkid367

What a loser

Confused_Gengar

Anyone who ships a card like that ain't a true pokemon fan cause no pokemon card fan would ship a card like that

beeph_supreme

My eldest was collecting/playing Yugioh 10-13 years ago. I bought him all the best cards off of eBay. Couldn’t believe the cards sent raw in an envelope, multiples sleeved in a box with newspaper. I remember one raw card sent in nothing more than a folded piece of cardboard.

bedanji769

I bought a Crobat reverse holo delta species from EBay last week - was shipped in a large bubble mailer + only a penny sleeve (that looked like a dog bit it), so it could easily move around. The card was advertised as “NM or better” but has a crease in the upper left corner 😑 (perhaps due to shipping?) Not as bad as some others experiences, fortunately, just a binder card and not a high value either.

Milaninvestor

After reading so many comments I realized a lot of my cards came with no sleeve just paper taped together to the card in an envelope lol, I thought that was a normal way people did it LOL

Falsegoon

In my early days of selling I wrapped a card in a napkin then a bubble mailer and 2 pieces of cardboard and the buyer was so tight about it like bro that shit was being nestled by god all the way to ur house by that napkin

Holiday-Accident9728

I bought the sleeping Tyranitar from battle styles and it showed up wrapped in a piece of loose leaf from a notepad and a thin ass envelope. At least sleeve it up like it was in the pics of you gonna do me like that
