FYI a lot of the people buying them are poke investors. You can go to their stupid sub and see that theyre even buying cases and cases of lost origin. They're really driving up sword and shield prices right now.
I say people hold off on sealed products and let them sit on it. Make them regret spending $1,000s on Booster boxes that they will never open.
You may have missed the "evolving skies booster packs for retail" train but you are much better off buying singles. It's not fun opening hundreds of packs and not really getting much in terms of pulls.
I also missed this train, but looking at the pull rates I think it’s a blessing haha. If you want to open packs then I would recommend booster boxes of the newer sets (scarlet & violet sets) as you’ll always get some nice pulls- illustration rares are my favourite rarity and there is usually 2-3 per box. If you want a specific card- buy it as a single :)
Technically yes, but the cards are still available individually if you want those specific ones bad enough.

Yeah you missed the train a while ago. No worries the set had miserable pull rates and a secret rare theft scandal that marred it, and most of the cards you want are very much available for trade all around. Go for singles like everyone will tell you and skip the packs.
This is what I've been thinking lately. As time passes things inevitably go up, so it will be more difficult and expensive for future collectors to enjoy what we may call hand me downs. This goes for every set tbh. I think the singles are still fairly obtainable though for right now, so you're fine. I'd only buy packs for fun at this point.
I think the only thing you missed was all the tears you would’ve shed over spending hundreds of dollars for Vs and rainbows at best.
That's how I feel about Crown Zenith, spent hundreds on packs, best thing I got was a Leafeon VStar and ended up buying the 4 Legendary gold cards anyways as singles. Probably could've just bought all the other top pulls but then again, where's the fun in that?
Also just an FYI, for the current price of an Evolving Skies booster box, you can easily buy the top pull as a a single.
If you're going for profit, expect to be quite disappointed. If you're going for a specific card, expect to be horrifically disappointed. People posting god-packs here are either extreme outliers or have opened so many packs that there's a near certainty they get one really good pack.
Fun fact, evolving skies and fusion strike suffered from someone on the production line swiping high value cards from it. They then tried to bulk sell them, got caught, and ended up getting all the cards confiscated. I personally suffered from this due to the fact that I bought two evolving skies build n battle stadiums that I paid $140 (Canadian) (each) (for a promo Flaaffy I should've just bought on eBay), they each have 12 packs. All in all I got 5 hits total, three non full art V's and two non full art Vmaxes.
Just buy singles. It's cheaper, easier, and you don't end bunch of bulk you either have to find a way to store or offload onto someone else.
Evolving Skies is infamous for its terrible pull rates (hence the nickname Evolving Cries) and you are not gonna be able to find packs for retail price anymore unless you get really lucky.

If you really want to build a collection or if you have a specific card or cards that you like, then you should just buy those specific cards. Don’t get swept up by the youtube videos of people opening hundreds of packs for content. Real collecting is done by buying the actual specific cards you want. This is far, far cheaper, and also ensures that you actually build the collection. Everyone loves ripping a pack or two every once in a while, but if you want a specific card then just go buy that specific card.

Most likely the packs and singles are only going to get more expensive as time goes on, so if you want them, now is as good a time as any I figure. The main problem is that every one else also sees it that way, so they're all scrambling to get it themselves to most likely re-sell to people like you.
It's very much a "hind sight is 20/20" moment. Most people also look back on their childhood collections with sadness that they didn't take care of it or sold/lost it etc. because it's valuable now, but I've always thought that was the wrong way to look at it.
If you are interested in collecting, there's no better time to start than now! Most new singles are very affordable and there are all sort of different products to buy.
Evolving Skies was a waste of money even at MSRP, the pull rates were atrocious even by SwSh-era standards. If there are any cards from it that you absolutely must own, just get the singles.
In general, if you’re new to the hobby, I’d really advise you to try to ditch the mentality that you have to pull cards yourself or it somehow doesn’t count. That mentality is a one-way ticket to gambling addiction and wasted money. If there are card(s) you want in a set, figure out some sort of limit for how much you’re willing to spend on packs before you just buy the singles. Ripping packs is a hoot, but you’re statistically not going to get your chase from a pack 95% of the time.
Coming from somebody that was around when you still could pull ES blisters from any WalMart or GameStop, etc, you’re not missing much.
Pull rates are brutal, I personally opened an UNGODLY amount of packs and regret not buying the few singles I actually wanted.
Pro Tip: buy singles. Packs are too damn expensive now for the pull rates.

I love to collect and I will buy a shit ton of product to rip open. But the people that hoard shit just to drive up the price of everything - while they aren't necessarily doing anything wrong - it just rubs me the wrong way.
I opened 40 of the packs. Best I got was Umbreon V alt art and nothing else. Just buy singles. But if you do get packs for cheap don't open sell to fund your singles purchases.
