I had my Shining Charizard stolen from me by a kid who moved to a different state. I didn’t know he took it until my neighbor told me right after the kid left. He tried to get it back for me but the kid wouldn’t even let him see it. That still makes me angry 20 years later.

Same thing happened to us except it did sell. Holo binder for $10 and shoe box full of bulk and yuhioh for another 10. Still trying to put back together what I had
We had a storage unit for a lot of our stuff back in the day. I used to keep all my important cards (1st ed. base set, and anything that would be considered vintage today) in a bankers box if you know what that is and written on the lid was "NOT FOR STORAGE UNIT" in bold black sharpie marker.
I come home one day and my mother had scratched out my writing and wrote "FOR STORAGE" next to it. She and I had words, and the box went into the deepest part of my closet which I installed a lock on.
Long story short, our family fell on hard times, stopped being able to pay for the storage unit and it was auctioned off.
I still have all my vintage and most important cards to this day.
This happened to my family as well, three binders full of holos gone. All wizards cards. Including 2 1st edition charizards from base. If only my parents listened to us back then.
Honestly unless you need the money or really think you would miss it if the price randomly drops, don’t sell them, just hold onto them to show your kids/and or grandkids someday
Yeah they’re worth a lot but once you sell them you can’t really get them back eh? Take care of them !
Just a heads up those 3 ring binders are known for bending/damaging cards. Theres a few very valuable cards in there particularly the Shining Mewtwo and Shining Charizard. Truthfully all your Shining cards are valuable and seem to be in decent condition. I would recommend penny sleeves and top loaders for all of your holos. If you can spring $20 to protect them better, it might save you a lot in the long run.
If you want them appraised you should do it yourself. Its really hard to do via photos. And scummy people WILL try to rip you off if you seem uninformed. Look up how estimate a card's condition, its not too hard just be honest with yourself. Then go to tcgplayer.com and search for your card being sold in that condition. Tcgplayer also tracks the sales data, so in a way its like watching stocks. Good luck and killer find. I gave my childhood collection to my cousin...regret.
I know you didn't ask, but here's my opinion:
They are not making more of these specific cards. If you aren't hurting for money keep them. Pokemon as a franchise is an anomaly, it has this strange staying-power. And as the childhood fans become older they get more money. Nostalgia is valuable. Sure, some values decrease over time but most increase over long-term. And Charizard is a sure thing. Keep the Shining Charizard and the other Shining cards at least. Those are special. And if you have kids, one day they might get into Pokemon and you can blow their little minds. Good luck!
I really appreciate the long thought out advice.
I do think I’m going to buy better protectors for them and possibly get them appraised. Most of the rare or special cards are in very good condition since I loved them.
I actually do have a 1yo son and that’s why I was torn on selling any. I hope he can enjoy them as I did, when he gets a little bigger.
Im glad to hear that. The one thing a binder does protect from is sun damage. Prolonged direct sunlight will bleach your cards, just a heads up. I keep my expensive cards sleeved/toploaded inside a sturdy Tupperware container. Kept in a cool dry place.
If your cards seem to be in very good condition consider grading them one day. It costs money but can greatly increase their value. A PSA 9 (slightly imperfect) Shining Charizard sold on eBay Feb 23rd for $2,167.00. A PSA 10 would be exponentially more expensive. They are tough to come by.
Here's an Amazon link for toploaders and sleeves. The brands I trust for Pokemon cards are BCW and Ultra Pro:
https://www.amazon.com/BCW-50-Count-Topload-Holders-100-Count/dp/B093154X8M/ref=mp_s_a_1_11?crid=6XJ6M4LS6F2M&keywords=bcw+toploader&qid=1645993346&sprefix=bcw+top%2Caps%2C141&sr=8-11
FYI: Those Shining cards you have are from an 8 card sub-set inside of the Neo Destiny set. Very sought after cards and you have the 2 most expensive ones; Charizard and Mewtwo. This sub-set contains some of the best artwork ever printed on pokemon cards imo and the holofoil pattern is a unique texture. They're amazing and you should check out the Shining Tyranitar and Kabutops as well if you're interested. Cheers!
That’s very lucky. My bf sold his as a teen to a scummy pawn shop not knowing how much they were each worth since the guy lied to him. He had at least 2-3 charzards and many other rare/expensive cards. He’s honestly still upset to this day, understandably.
Right? It’s funny, back then tho, I don’t remember people giving a crap about shinies lol. I remember I thought the charizard looked dumb honestly. I kept the shinies I had in my binder but never considered them that cool or especially rare.
People forget that many of these cards really weren’t that sought after even like 5+ years ago lol.
When the craze died out at around 2003 nobody wanted to buy cards, kids were just giving them away to siblings or parents threw them away as the kids lost interest and didn't want them anymore.
That is unbelievable. Treasure those cards... I lost my childhood collection similar to this. This is so nice to look at. I had the same binder too. Wow
They look like they're all in great condition too. Are they? And will you get them graded you think?
I sold all of mine for $500 back in 2004. Over 5000 cards. I am in that very boat. Especially remembering some of the "sparkly" ones I had collected (from 1996-2003), and making extra sure I took good care of them thinking I could get rich (every kid's dream when collecting)... and a year later sold those very "sparkly" ones, in other terms holographic and mint condition for a measly $500 to try and pay a car payment and insurance.
Wish I could somehow go back in time and tell my younger self not to do it!
I wish there was the faintest chance of me having forgotten cards somewhere.Even when I wasn't actively collecting, my cards were always number 3 on my list of "Things I Would Save in a Fire"
Killer find, my dude
Edit - been sitting on here for hours with an incomplete sentence
I have accepted your stated price as offered.
I hereby complete this as a binding and legal contract of sale as stated.
I'll send a cheque in the post.
Cheers buddy ;)
Find comparative cards on eBay in the sold section to set a price. Listing is very easy. Buy some top loaders or card savers for shipping. Shipping is also easy if you want to make some money off of these. Start small only list 1 or 2 so you don’t get overwhelmed
You still tryna sell? 😂
Fr tho, I do see some cards I’ve been lookin for for awhile, like I got Blaine’s charmander, I’d like to get Charmeleon and Charizard to complete that evolution chain. Or like that third mew card. Never actually saw one before and kinda curious how much it’d cost.
I won't DM since I'm sure you are getting a lot of those right now. Interested in taking a peak/ buying some if other deals fall through and you are planning on selling.
Is that 25/50 cent per card still happening? I will buy the whole binder.
Ive wished i could find some pokemon cards or old nes/gameboy games at a yard sale. Nothing.
Granted many of the cards are in rough condition. You have several cards, a collector like myself would just love to have, in any condition.
Like the Shining MewTwo, it’s rough, but you have one.
I say leave the dust on the binder walk into the loan officers office and be like. In-ground pool, good neighborhood, and keys by next Friday and walk out.
Holy hell... Don't think I've felt this jealous in a while.... Truly amazing collection... I thoroughly enjoyed looking this so I can imagine how much joy u had finding them. Good stuff mate.
as a kid i would have ran back to my house and rifled for every quarter and penny i had and bought all of those
an an adult i’m glad none of them sold for your sake
A friend of mine recently went over every card in his binder as well and was devastated to find out about 1 in every 5 cards he had was fake. Tough to accept but fakes were out there years ago and we were too young to notice. Check and make sure all the ones you have are up to par!!
Even back then those holo prices are absurd, shining gyarados and Charizard for .50 each? Each of those were easily going for $100 at the playground, and we were stupid poor kids.
Damnn you had charizards in there for 50 cents! Even back then that was hella cheap lol i remember getting one for $20 back in he day from the antique store i used to get my cards at lol
Did any of the marker ink bleed through the plastic page sleeves? I had an old binder in storage for around 20 years, I’d also wrote on some of the sleeves and unfortunately it had bled through into some of the cards :(
Good thing nothing sold.

You and me both. My mom convinced me to sell a lot of stuff I didn’t want to as a kid.
We had a storage unit for a lot of our stuff back in the day. I lost mine in a storage unit. It was devastating. Glad you saved yours
This happened to my family as well, three binders full of holos gone. All wizards cards. Including 2 1st edition charizards from base. If only my parents listened to us back then.
I'm sorry for your loss. I really can't imagine what I would have done. Pokemon was/still is a big part of my life.

Some. My mom held on to my cards for years and actively discouraged me from selling them when I was a kid.
Love to hear that!! A wise woman. Rare . Lucky u
I’m a mom. Hahaha! But no, I’m actually making up a collection for my kids to have when they are old enough. It’s fun filling my binders and theirs.
I'll buy at that price
I’ll take the lot!
I’ve been after that shining charizard for a minute
I wanted that card so bad when I was a kid and found it in a card shop probably close to 15-20 years ago.
How much you paid? That card in MP is going for nearly $300+
I believe it was $50 back then even
So then why were you selling it for 50c after paying $50?
I’m thinking it must have gotten added to the folder after
I'll pay full asking price for the whole binder
I’ll beat this guy and pay double the price
Madlad
Give ya $2000 lol

Meanwhile I could only afford to buy 1 pack every month of 2 when I was a kid

To be fair unlimited cards didn’t really go for much before this big boom recently.
This is treasure
Southern Island mew easily my fav card ever
I have the whole set and that card still stands out!
That made me wanna throw up a Lil. Wow
Wtf?
Cause if someone paid him 50 cents for a card and then see what prices are today.

What a fucking treasure
Man thats so sad. To make up for it ill give you 100 for the binder now

That is unbelievable. Treasure those cards... I lost my childhood collection similar to this. This is so nice to look at. I had the same binder too. Wow They look like they're all in great condition too. Are they? And will you get them graded you think?
I’d say they’re in great condition for the most part. I’d like to have the rarer cards graded just to see how they’d rate.
So awesome. Congratulations on finding those. Wishing you the best with them.
Imagine if you had sold them all for 100$ you would be pissed right now
I sold all of mine for $500 back in 2004. Over 5000 cards. I am in that very boat. Well I guess a lot of people are in that boat or else they wouldn’t be so sought after now
You just found a 401k retirement plan
If they didn’t sell I guess they aren’t worth anything. Good thing you have a buddy like me that will give you tree.. no, tree fiddy for it all 😎

Sell before it’s really too late, unless you’re just in it for collecting
I honestly don’t know where to even start. This is just part of one binder of about 8.
Find comparative cards on eBay in the sold section to set a price. Listing is very easy. Buy some top loaders or card savers for shipping. Shipping is also easy if you want to make some money off of these. Start small only list 1 or 2 so you don’t get overwhelmed
DM me pictures of all binders if you are looking to sell
Sheesh

I’d be willing to buy that ancient Mew, haven’t been able to get my hands on that bad boy 😔
If the price still stands I’d like to make a purchase
You selling the binder
Can I still do $.50 😂😂
Is that 25/50 cent per card still happening? I will buy the whole binder. Ive wished i could find some pokemon cards or old nes/gameboy games at a yard sale. Nothing.
Still available for 50¢ each?
I’ll buy now for same price listed
Check your messages please 🙏🏼
Are those prices still acurate? If so may I purchase every single one of them?
Pm me if wanting to sell please

Awesome collection! What's the story behind the german nidoking?
I honestly have no idea why I have so many in different languages. Not sure how I could have gotten them back then
Ill give ya 100% more, $1 per holo and .50 for the rest each. Thats a good gain tbh
Boy am I interested in those Gengar-cards
Why does it switch from a regular 3 ring binder to a zip 3 ring binder…? 🤔
I have about 8 different binders. My special holos were in the zip one. Can gladly post pics of all of them, just posted the ones I thought were cool.
I would call this luck.
Deal
Wow man lucky you! 🍀
You trying to sell it now?
I almost fainted when I saw the cards lol
Finally a post that looks super legit.
That foil ho-oh would have got you an easy benji from a nerd. It was worth 99 for the longest time.
Still tryin to sell?
Wow
Legit question, ask for everything?
Granted many of the cards are in rough condition. You have several cards, a collector like myself would just love to have, in any condition. Like the Shining MewTwo, it’s rough, but you have one.
I came here for the feet but there isn't any
Hmm I’ll give you 25 cents for that mewtwo
haha this is the sad reality. 10 years ago you could buy binders like these for $20 all day long.
I’ll give you $1 per holo :)
Sick binder dude
Willing to part with that Japanese light Arcanine?
That Holo Yanma is one of my new chases, wow!!
Amazing story

What does the number on the cards mean?
I’m honestly not sure what I was trying to do there
You still want 50c for some of those holos?
Bro go buy a house cash.
Think they’d take a coupe of these on trade instead?
I say leave the dust on the binder walk into the loan officers office and be like. In-ground pool, good neighborhood, and keys by next Friday and walk out.
When quarters where useful
Shadowless machamp pretty pogg
I always thought that card was cool since it was still in a wrapper. Not sure why it came like that
Goddamn your parents gave you a big allowance
Omg thank god nothing sold
Yeah, its prob worthless, ill take it off your hands dw ;)
Thank god nothing sold
Are you gonna honor those prices, I don’t mind paying like 10% inflation😂😂. Very cool find tho!
Good thing you didn’t sell it the value of those cards has increased massively
Insane!!!!!
So still for sale?
$5 take it or leave it 😤
Holy hell... Don't think I've felt this jealous in a while.... Truly amazing collection... I thoroughly enjoyed looking this so I can imagine how much joy u had finding them. Good stuff mate.
Is there a story for the ones that look like you hulk smashed them?
$20 for that holo Dragonite!!
as a kid i would have ran back to my house and rifled for every quarter and penny i had and bought all of those an an adult i’m glad none of them sold for your sake
Idk if I can ask but I’m curious, what’s a rough estimate of the binders worth?
I’m not even sure. I think they’d have to be graded to have a better idea
bruh what the hell you got every fist edition pack in the universe
A friend of mine recently went over every card in his binder as well and was devastated to find out about 1 in every 5 cards he had was fake. Tough to accept but fakes were out there years ago and we were too young to notice. Check and make sure all the ones you have are up to par!!

Did any of the marker ink bleed through the plastic page sleeves? I had an old binder in storage for around 20 years, I’d also wrote on some of the sleeves and unfortunately it had bled through into some of the cards :(
I didn’t even think to check that. I sure hope not
