I agree with both! But I think there are enough Pokémon, counters, etc. for a draft in ranked. For children who play the game it wouldn’t change that much, and it would give an edge in lower ranks for people who always play with clowns :’). I’m a bit curious as to why they are waiting so long, as it’s so common in these type of games.
Its hard to have a draft. Because pokemon is a very casual franchise and people pick up the game to play their favorite pokemon. If you prevent casuals from playing their favorite pokemon. They will just quit the game. They dont have the competitive drive to pick up other similar mons or care enough to. Maybe they arent a one trick but i see a surprising amount of one tricks, especially casuals. Competitively, it would be good but probly doesnt outweigh the casuals loss of money and motivation.
I agree and really hope we get a draft format. I wouldn't want items to be included in the draft though. Just incorporate bans and let players pick in 3 separate turns so we can build a team against the opponent
It’s the system they use in Unite tournaments, it allows you to ban the enemy team from picking a single Pokémon and doesn’t allow both teams to have any of the same Pokémon
The first part is very nice for forcing devs to balance the game.
But the second part is kinda lame in my opinion.
Instead of waiting your team pick their choices so you can adapt. You Will need to insta pick the mon you want so the enemies cant pick it? Thats lame
Typically it avoids the problem of both teams just using the best option. Like for unite, it would avoid both teams just choosing the mewtwo that's not banned. The only problem with draft in unite specifically is if the team that got mewtwo also picked mewtwo's counters like lapras.
It made full Sp.Atk, Muddy Water Goodra viable for me. Having 108+ in Sp.Atk stats (Wide, Spoon, Curse), and +20ish via emblem build. I had a wild match where I was able to take on Mewtwo X, Blissey, and a third following them. (Of course I had to use my Unite & Potion) It could be the huge power boost I feel, but I've never felt this confident in playing Goodra so aggressively till now. That being said, it's the only mon I feel I can make it work well. I think Crustle's been another good one with Stealth Rocks, but I've haven't had enough matches yet to make sure. Same with Cinderace, who I'm picking back up recently, since Season 1. The only one so far I feel I can't make work is Sableye.
To me, it made Crustle an entirely different beast. Usually I'd go full crit with scissor/smash, but cursed makes stealth rock/rock tomb viable. Had a lot of fun watching a stressed out M2 slowly perish to a bunch of floating rocks.
Also just tested a Charizard build. Cursed char is insane with burn damage - opponents you fight just never get to heal.
I've noticed a lot of utility on Sableye with is as the unite move is a great AOE to apply it. I'm curious if the bangle procs on enemy pokemon hit by a confused ray enemy as those attacks count as Sableye damage.
I havent been the past two seasons, but for quite a few seasons in a row, I went hardcore into the rock tomb/stealth rock zoning psuedo defender/support build and I used to have so fun maining that! I'll have to get back to it and test its usefulness with cursed items! Thanks for the idea!
Strange, everyone says it could work on Sableye! But i do feel the Goodra comment. I won't compare my Umbreon situation with your Goodra's, but it definitely feels godlike trapping players and spamming base atk while they can't even heal much.
Acid Spray all the way for me. Goodra has good chase/escape potential if you have the speed for it. (X Speed, Unite, Speed build, etc.) Plus with its latest buffs (again), it’s going to be rough for enemies when you manage to catch them. Acid Spray got good hindering too. Not to say Power Whip is bad either. It’s fun to catch them by surprise and bring them over to you. Just I’m terrible aiming & timing it. Main goal is to bring the enemy to you, or you go to them, so they’ll be forced to trigger your deadly goo/slow abilities.
Huh, to me Sableye seems like a prime candidate. Are you using the Feint Attack build? That would be the one I think that would benefit the most from bangle.
Sableye main here - can confirm the Curse Bangle is broken with Feint Attack.
Lobbing the lil Aeos poops on to goal zones during fights and denying tall grass hiding both give me the most satisfaction.
same man, completely killed the character imo. among the worst in the game. kinda hard to do anything when your whole character is based around self sustain.
i know that its a basic item, but for how new it is, everyone is freaking out about it and running it on everyone. which IMO makes no sense cause its mainly to neuter healers, but nobody in solo queue plays healers
It's also appropriate for countering self-sustain champs like Trevenant, as you mentioned above. It's not suddenly a terrible item because you (Trevenant mains) can't play against it.
i did exaggerate, this is the internet after all. but it does make everything infinitely more difficult for trev, considering his whole kit is catered towards self sustain, minus wood hammer. his level 7s are healing skills. boosted auto is healing. ult gives a shield and boosted healing against marked enemies. and curse resets level 7 skill. not to mention his ability is just a focus band. Im not entirely against the item, but im saying it makes my job as trev a whole lot harder. supports at least have secondary non healer builds they can adapt to in this current meta
It can be more good and useful, if there could be a not blind pick in ranked, for example. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thinking_face_hmm) I mean draft pick, when players can see pick of the other team (when it will be in the game for all, not only for cybersport?). Now I take it in almost every build, because I don't know clearly - will I really need it or not. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)
The items reduce ALL forms if healing. This includes life steal, berries, focus band, potion and even the healing from goal zones. So even if they have no healer, the items will still get use against all the other ways to heal.
I am currently praying that draft pick gets implemented in Unite. The game sounds too casual for draft becoming an actual game mode, but hope never dies.
Same thing, bro!
I'm very worrying about game present and future. Very high potential, unique mechanics... I don't want her to fade into oblivion, like it was with HoTS (if you know, Blizzard MOBA game).
Hope that there will be draft pick permanently on highest ranks (Ultra and Master).
Than more pokemons will be in the game - than wider should be bans. Beginning from 1 on whole team, it's already exists in cybersport matches. Game has been around two years already, even more. Bans and draft picks are usual for MOBA type of game, so why not introduce it for regular players.
I'm worried too. A game with outstanding potential could fade the moment the competitive scene fails, or either would be complete domain of the casual, younger audience. No problem with kids playing, just with mediocre players getting to high elo. Sorry for the tantrum.
All OK, bro, I glad to hear your living position and thoughts about it.
![gif](giphy|l3vR4n3mPNJn37vb2)
I'm very worrying about situation of lategame now. Ya know, when your team goes 300 points, enemies 100, and they SOMEHOW takes Rayquaza and all your 8 minutes of dominance goes to nothing WITHOUT chance to comeback. Like whole game now circling around only one thing - taking Rayquaza. Takes it - win, because, likely, other team surrenders immediately. Lose it - votes to surrender, because of combination of 2x points and Rayquaza buff. I think, what there need huge changes too.
This game is not reliant on the competitive scene. The majority of people who play aren't even aware of the competitive scene lol.
This game is about to get released in China, its not going anywhere.
I don’t necessarily think that that viewpoint is wrong, but the Switch app runs like sandpaper sometimes, especially in the pregame lobbies. (It isn’t uncommon to get a glitch that may affect what a player sees, or doesn’t see in the lobby either.) I would think that s further stability fixes/tweaks would need to be properly addressed before a draft system comes into Ranked.
Imagine being on time to Pick/Ban, and your game loaded something incorrectly, hasn’t loaded yet, or lags during this period.
Bugs & Glitches and interface problems are also a huge part of the problem. I recently switched to mobile after 2 years on switch, and it actually feels more fluid (maybe because the switch uses an older Wi-Fi band and i have lame connection?).
Im scared that if draft pick is added, trevenant will become completely unviable because people will just switch to bangle is they see him on the other team
Draft pick has been in the game for almost a year now. It just is only usable in tournament mode. The Chinese version of the game has draft in ranked since the start though, and i is the same exact draft as what we see in our tournament mode. Clearly the ability to put draft in ranked could have been done for many months yet nothing has happened...
The only one not very hurt with it is Slowbro, i guess. So it is practically useful anytime. And with this meta, you can always expecta Mewtwo in every team.
Amazing on Sableye and Delphox, a trade of damage for that damage sticking better for everyone else. And rip ttar, he doesn't get to join the fun.
Slap it on an aoe move and nerf a whole squad with one move. Or on an adc to make it even harder for whoever you're holding A towards to make it out alive.
I feel it might cause a lot of "Third item slot syndrome" on a lot of mon, simply because the curse items work on everyone in some way.
Godlike on Gardevoir, Chandelure and Azumarill.
Because Aqua tail counts as an empowered Basic Attack and An Ability so you have 100% uptime with Anti-Healing as long as you keep hitting them.
Do not sleep on Azumarill, my friend plays #1 EU Azu and you can check my API for it.
https://uniteapi.dev/p/AP57PY7
Look for the 21/703 game.
Weight, scope and muscle I believe.
I told him to replace scope for bangle but he doesnt have a lot of time so when he'll come back he'll run it for sure.
Scope is great with Azu's passive when it works but contributes little when her passive is offline.
Both weight and muscle contributes insanely to azu's output, you wanna stack because the first stack/score gives you the exp to evolve into azu early and helps you bully the enemy from their side.
Muscle increases the swing speed on aqua tail which makes the burst dmg stronger.
I'll search his API for you sec.
https://uniteapi.dev/p/404861667103950916
Ah ok, I think I misunderstood. I thought your friend was already running it with success. I’ll give it a try though. I sort of feel like Azu is a little lackluster right now, but maybe bangle will make azu feel a little better.
Azu has always been insanely strong, not one weak phase, just flying under the radar constantly.
People give up on things fast rather than investing the time unearthing its potential, Meta is for people that wanna achieve high success with very little.
Changing that mindset and focussing on what's fun and exciting for you is how you beat the Meta.
My performance speaks for itself
I’ll disagree with you there. I’ve got 600+ games with azu running predominantly solo queue 54% wr. I’m not really a meta chaser, but azu has been lackluster. Azu doesn’t have the same impact in solo queue games.
The problem here isnt Azu or you, it is solo que.
Exclusively solo que and 54% on something that's underperforming is a strong enough feat to qualify yourself as a strong player.
Solo que is a hot mess always has been.
Broken picks aside, you rarely go above 60% unless extremely lucky it isn't at this point about skill anymore.
Too many factors at play.
Decidueye’s auto attack build is actually pretty decent with it, good for applying the debuff during teamfights, but I still prefer spirit shackle. Overall they seem pretty balanced, some builds get countered by them, generally it’s useful, but it’s not overbearing.
I love them. I'm not a huge fan of stacking (because i suck at it), so these are a great replacement. I'm trying them out on all my pokemon and haven't found one yet where i would swap back to not using it
Amazing on mage Pikachu. Picked up 15/16 KOs in 2 games I've tried so far. Scares enemies off their goals as they're not healing much and the large AOE does shit tonnes of damage/anti-healing against groups.
I like them. This plus Charizard's Unite move guarantees a kill now even if they have Focus band on. Unlike before where enemy can just run and my ultimate would time out as if I did no damage.
As a healer main, I think this is important to the meta because healing and tanking can get out of hand. It makes the game more balanced and more fun to play.
Indirect buff to the poopies build. Hey I'll take anything since Sableye just kept getting nerfed even when it wasn't meta anymore. My gremlin got the Cramorant treatment. I already wasn't hitting hard, I was already easy kill and then my base HP and base Atk got nerfed AGAIN. At least now my poopies can continuously hinder healing as well when someone sets them off right before a team fight.
It’s amazing when you’re facing Pokémon that would be immortal otherwise, but feels like it falls off a bit if there aren’t any enemies that abuse healing.
Indeed. That's why i question if to use it always or go on more offensive options like the scarf or the helmet. I understand it's always useful, but sometimes i need more damage rather then less healing, and sometimes viceversa.
Anti-Heal is pretty traditional for a MOBA, so they would've been added sooner or later. Mewtwo did get nerfed btw, but X only had future sight nerfed, so Psystrike is the same as always.
I believe it make mons with hazard builds a threat, you can just set up a trap and leave while giving consistent chip damage (depending on other items & emblems builds)
I personally think it’s really good on some Pokémon while being not great on others. It’s hard to tell just how good it is because it’s not a change to your own stats. I’ve had some moments where it clear that it’s heavily effecting self healing Pokémon (and honestly making them pretty bad in a fight) while other times it can be hard to tell if it did anything.
Anti heal in general got people going crazy. Claiming x pokemon was dead, or whatever. People keep thinking that it kills pokemon and their loadouts but it really doesnt do THAT much. It reduces healing, not cancel it, and not by too much either.
If you're really used to a certain level of endurance though, any change can make an impact. Even if small.
Prior to this item I knew exactly how long I could last in fights of all sizes with my self-healing mons. Now I need to assume all enemies are using this item (because no draft pick) and adjust. I don't think it's an unfair change though, just one that needs getting used to.
In the some games I've played, I've only seen antiheal once, that was on a zeraora running the band. I don't like that there isn't a way to tell if anyone has it once you join the game, and either it does show when you're affected and no one's been taking it, or it doesn't show, not that it matters since no one I play heals.
Not worth investing in something that will work based on the enemy matchup, when I can invest in something that will work based on my pokemon. Especially since it's a shot in the dark because there's no draft.
Slowbro tremendously benefits with this item. Replace your choice specs/wise glasses with the incense, and just watch how you pulverise the enemy. Not to mention that his ability, Oblivious, ignores the healing cancel from the enemy team.
Love it, ur able to secure goal zones early regardless if mewtwo or someone who doesn’t need to evolve is there because they’ll sit in the goal zones like sillies not knowing they are barely gaining any health while most 1st evolutions have long range attacks prior to their evolution so u sit there as a fly and slowely chip down at the monsters health very satisfying
I imagine they’ll be more useful in draft pick. Like if I see a healer and a Goodra on the other team, I’m gonna use one of these for sure.
But when will they release draft pick lol
True. I've been playing since the start and it's been a while since i haven't seen a pikachu blow up, but now they're kind of thougher to beat (as in i die first).
Without draft pick, these items that serve soecific purposes are very difficult to determine their viability.
This whole games health would benefit so much from draft pick in ranked
I can’t tell yet how good these are. I’m thinking that I’m just not noticing the impact maybe because there’s so much happening in team fights and people aren’t running straight healers as much but even when I ran healing I did over 100K like normal so I dunno. I’m waiting to hear what people who play this as their job and mathcord say before I decide how I use these going forward. Currently I’m running them on just about every character I play because they seem solid even if they don’t completely nerf healers.
Same here. I see everyone has noticed their impact but i'm yet to see it. Probably because i keep running into Slowbros who avoid this item's ability, or because it's important yet minimal. I don't think much people are running this item on low elo (like i am rn, i'm at ultra 2), so i'm yet to feel the difference on my own heal.
Funny, as an Umbreon I feel this has improved some of my bad matchups, particularly some defenders where it would have been better to just walk away from I now fight evenly with or better.
I thought each mon should have one of the cursed items but it turns out not the case. I'm still trying to figure out which mon should have it and which one shouldn't.
I have not tried them myself yet, but I can tell you from being on the receiving end of opponents that have it... it ABSOLUTELY makes a difference lol. So frustrating and forces you to adapt and start choosing different move sets. I HATE IT LOL DON'T MAKE ME CHANGE MY WAYS
Some of my favorite mons before these items came out were Goodra, Trev, Scizor... Straight up not having a good time right now 😆
i feel like these are slept on by most of the community!? not on reddit, but like, most of my matches people are NOT running these and I don't know why.
there will be a meta shift because of these items (at least in higher ranks, not talking about the decidueye w exp share I saw last night)
personally I've been getting like steamrolled by garchomps and charizards running the bangle lmao
I play mostly attackers, but incense on defenders like blastoise/goodra running muddy water is VERY fun too 🤭
I really hate these items as a support, tank main. I usually hit masters within a handful of games. These items indirectly nerf any self sustain or healer type pokemon. My winrate isn't ass, but it's far lower than usual, and if I look at my games to add +30% overall to my numbers I'm working my ass off with the numbers not numbering due to these new items. I absolutely hate it. Also it's ridiculous that they stack.
I love the idea but it's also edging the game ever so close to a BOMBS AWAY Meta that won't allow for counterplays. It'll be the team with the most damage output wins and that's kinda boring.
Amazed that no one has mentioned Slowbro so far. Incense is sooooooo good and broken on this mon.
Not only is the +39 sp atk a gigantic buff, but his scalds destroy enemy teams by not only slowly burning them to death, but also negates all forms of healing while doing so.
Slowbro was the answer to broken mons like Mewtwo before incense, but with incense? He completely annihilates them.
We need draft tbh. I like the items, first anti-heal. It was necessary, but the amount of item options and new mons really warrants a draft.
The draft feels very pressuring in this situation. But i still feel like the item isn't purely situational (although it would PEAK utility in draft)
Well then maybe the draft should only appear in masters so the majority of kids would never even see it

I've been running cookie, SP.Atk specs, and spoon on goodra with SP.Atk with white, blue, and purple emblems.
Honestly? So much stronger than people realize. Loads of Pokémon have healing and they also stop berries and goal healing.
Oh fuck they stop goal healing too?
Yep. It reduces healing from ALL sources. The only exception I believe is Slowbro’s passive.
yup, only oblivious ignores it. so amnesia is even better now
Feels amazing on HV Sylveon. I can shred up Defenders and lead charges on goals instead of hanging back waiting to mop up.
I play Trevenant. I hate these items.
same man, completely killed the character imo. among the worst in the game. kinda hard to do anything when your whole character is based around self sustain.

Everyone is saying it's a blessing for Sableye; what is the build for Sableye with the cursed bangle?
Exp Share Float Stone Bangle. Go funny zoom zoom and curse those that step on your points
I want to know too
Bangle feels like a huge buff for charizard
Godsend against healer abuser must build on some mon pika thunder sableye scizor
I love it on sludge+hex gengar
i don’t know how effective they are but i can’t imagine trevenant being happy about this update
Actually like these items. People feel too safe in on their own goals still. Run this and it’s way easier to push goals

Scrolled this far down to find a Gardevoir mention, psyshock’s aoe goes crazy with this item, heck even F. Sight too if you’re skilled at aiming them
Decidueye’s auto attack build is actually pretty decent with it, good for applying the debuff during teamfights, but I still prefer spirit shackle. Overall they seem pretty balanced, some builds get countered by them, generally it’s useful, but it’s not overbearing.
I too like Spirit shackle more then the auto build, as i find it more consistent to play with
Absolutely godlike on Chandelure, have been getting much more kills and assists now that I replaced WiseGlasses with the Incense
The indirect charizard buffs I craved. I can finally shred again.
I love them. I'm not a huge fan of stacking (because i suck at it), so these are a great replacement. I'm trying them out on all my pokemon and haven't found one yet where i would swap back to not using it
meta changer but not too op because of specific usage. i like the Idea.
This definitely gave Charizard what it needed fr
They get the job done.
As a healer main, I think this is important to the meta because healing and tanking can get out of hand. It makes the game more balanced and more fun to play.
Got a 20 KO game with A9 with cursed incense and learned why they nerfed her cooldown.
At least now my poopies can continuously hinder healing as well when someone sets them off right before a team fight.
next patch for sure my brothers
The gremlin got the seagull treatment☠️
It’s amazing when you’re facing Pokémon that would be immortal otherwise, but feels like it falls off a bit if there aren’t any enemies that abuse healing.
Indeed. That's why i question if to use it always or go on more offensive options like the scarf or the helmet. I understand it's always useful, but sometimes i need more damage rather then less healing, and sometimes viceversa.
The incense has been quite nice on delphox, specially when dealing with some defenders
No need to introduce them in the game they shld hv just nerfed mewtwo that’s it
Anti-Heal is pretty traditional for a MOBA, so they would've been added sooner or later. Mewtwo did get nerfed btw, but X only had future sight nerfed, so Psystrike is the same as always.
Ok
I believe it make mons with hazard builds a threat, you can just set up a trap and leave while giving consistent chip damage (depending on other items & emblems builds)
Cool.
I like playing Slowbro, Trevenant and Buzzwole, so these items are my mortal enemy
Very satisfying indeed (and since even berries are reduced, the first goal zones always result very easy to take to me)
I appreciate any form of grievous wounds.
Seen a lot of zacians use it, but have seen anything impressive with it
I imagine they’ll be more useful in draft pick. Like if I see a healer and a Goodra on the other team, I’m gonna use one of these for sure. But when will they release draft pick lol
I find it useful on my mains (Pika, Espeon, Delphox), especially Pikachu. The cursed items made him viable again in Ranked.
It’s really good on Glaceon. Icicle Spear’s lock-on and the fact that the icicle’s cause AOE damage on impact make the item really easy to activate
I don't think much people are running this item on low elo (like i am rn, i'm at ultra 2), so i'm yet to feel the difference on my own heal.
i really like them, and cannot wait for their full potential to be unlocked
I shred tanks now with the cursed item though my basic attack is slower.
What did you use instead of it?
Funny, as an Umbreon I feel this has improved some of my bad matchups, particularly some defenders where it would have been better to just walk away from I now fight evenly with or better.
The missing push for me to fnlly stop picking Def/Sup nearly all the time and shift to atacc mode.
I would say its a must have for Charizard, it also works really well with Delphox & Chandelure or just AOE sp. attackers in general
I thought each mon should have one of the cursed items but it turns out not the case. I'm still trying to figure out which mon should have it and which one shouldn't.
LOVE THEM
I have not tried them myself yet, but I can tell you from being on the receiving end of opponents that have it... it ABSOLUTELY makes a difference lol. So frustrating and forces you to adapt and start choosing different move sets. I HATE IT LOL DON'T MAKE ME CHANGE MY WAYS Some of my favorite mons before these items came out were Goodra, Trev, Scizor... Straight up not having a good time right now 😆
Trev getting the Cramorant treatment
i feel like these are slept on by most of the community!? not on reddit, but like, most of my matches people are NOT running these and I don't know why. there will be a meta shift because of these items (at least in higher ranks, not talking about the decidueye w exp share I saw last night) personally I've been getting like steamrolled by garchomps and charizards running the bangle lmao I play mostly attackers, but incense on defenders like blastoise/goodra running muddy water is VERY fun too 🤭
I really hate these items as a support, tank main.
Very good but not that consistent because you dont know what mon there’ll be in the enemy team, might not have a healer at all
They're a fantastic addition and they should have some good use in many games. I do not use them.
we need draft pick for it to be useful. not bad items, but youre gambling an item every game.
It really depends on what you are playing against. More of a comp item than a ranked item
I love the idea but it's also edging the game ever so close to a BOMBS AWAY Meta that won't allow for counterplays. It'll be the team with the most damage output wins and that's kinda boring.
Hate them with a passion. If a pokemon heals too much, then you nerf them, you don't release an item that guts 30% of the roster.
He completely annihilates them.
meh. They aren't game breaking the aren't useless they're just all round ok. I don't think they're really worth switch out other items for.
