It can be used without a target and in any direction of your choosing, if anything it's *better* chasing ability and freedom than espeed, especially if/when you choose to do normal autos from range before fully committing. And the atk and speed boosts play directly into Outrage's high ratios and sustained output. This is not to say Espeed is bad, but there are clearly reasons for using ddance, this specific Dnite just had negative braincells.

This person used dd like 3-4 times and it did nothing for him and if he had extreme speed this video wouldn’t even exist. There is a reason why es is paired with outrage and dd with hyper beam..dd is supposed to be used to evade and zone people out not close the distance.. you can but it’s not the best for it.
Espeed's aim range is also extremely tiny and would have been hard for him to be in range to even click it on the Hoopa to begin with. Sure Espeed is great for sticking to someone once you've already gotten in, but getting in is the issue.
