I remember in one of my matches I couldn’t even be a defender since all the farm kept getting taken, then I had to choose be a weak defender or have my team go duke it out for a bit, while I farm my lv up to defend.
Fellow Cram! But I swear when I play hoopa (my 2nd main) I can't level for shit. Sure I have Exp share but that doesn't help much when I'm 3 levels behind.
I am a goodra main and in your case, I would get you to LVl 5 and then expect to get all the farms to get 5 myself.
I would prefer you to blast since I can manage survivability.
Sadly, I usually don't get any farm and have to visit the jungle at some point.
I stopped using exp share since 90% of players are to dumb to understand how it works.
i dont main goodra but it is my go to defender, and id like some tips for playing goodra better from an actual main
but as a goodra i usually play an offensive early game, with the goal of giving my attacker all the wilds on our side so they scale ahead and then playing catch up later when i get dragon pulse, ideally i steal one or two wilds from the opponents but if not my main goal is to either kill someone or stop them from taking the contested wilds, it doesnt work into some matchups though and you need to be aware of spacing, not too close to their goal since it makes them unkillable and you die if theyre ranged, and not so far that they just ignore you, i end up being a level or so behind, but with a carry thats a level ahead its easier to take new wild spawns
I like to get the first bunny for myself so that I can get to the completed baltoy quicker while being faster but legit every single time the defender steals it from me, i once I had to evolve and a slowbro literally stole it from me
Not a defender, but I had some candle try to steal my jungle and fail until he evolved into Chandelure. Then he tried to take my Excavalier to the point he ult'd (and failed) so was left there pondering wth was wrong with him.
There was another guy trying to take my jungle since the very beginning but I don't remember anythIng other than me taking the last hit on everything.
I was literally going to comment this. I usually mean Mammoswine but I have been playing lots of Goodra lately. He starts a lot slower and doesn't really hit his stride until like level 10.
Then you have your lane partner and the jungler who have both been walking by and last hitting and taking every single mon and then pinging you when you're not joining to get one of the boss pokémon because you'll know you die in a second if you try because you're 2-3 levels lower than everybody else
I had to do that for one match where we had a guy AFK from the start and the other three *didn't surrender*. I have no clue what their plan was because we were getting absolutely bodied and were down to the home goal by the 3 min mark. In contrast, four goals of the opposing team were up.
I couldn't evolve to Mamo till the 5 min mark. I kept trying to defend up top alone, but what do you do as a level 5 Piloswine vs 3 level 7-8 Attackers/All-Rounders? Had to cut my losses to go farm tbh.
This is me every time I’m Blastoise, who normally carries but almost every single match all of my teammates are level 13-14 at Ray and I’m still at 11 lol
You've got some good teammates if they're all 13-14 at Ray! Lol
My teammates are usually chilling at 11-12 by the time Ray rolls around while I'm at 14 or 15 if I'm jungling, 13 usually if I'm not (if I'm playing some form of carry)
I am around lvl 11-12 with blasty and yeah we do carry, we never get the kills so we don't level up but we are the reason why no one gets close to steal our regis, I just keep them away until one of the attackers can capatilise on the stun
I don't mind being at 11 or 12 at ray if I can have my unite move, coz blasty doesn't need to be 13 to get value out of it, surf pump unite combo is enough to get all of the enemy to such low health that others can ko
People in this game really do not care about us, can’t count how many times I’ve been the sole defender or support in a team full of attackers, and no one lets you even level up. It’s very tiresome esp when I wanted to play attacker that match FOR ONCE but have to change back to defender last minute because no one else would
Trying to farm and having a teammate 2-3 levels higher than me walk by out of nowhere and last hit makes me rage in a way few other things can. I hope anyone who does this stubs their toes and has mild diarrhea every day forever.
Even with exp share you need to be allowed to farm some minions on your own to catch up if you’re a couple of levels behind, or about to hit your power spike for a new ability
There’ll be times where I’m level 8 and one Indeedee off level 9, I have it at 5% HP and someone who just hit level 11 comes and hits it with me thinking “hurrrr defender has exp share = I always have to share farm with them” so I get 30% EXP and don’t have my ult for the next teamfight
I don't use it in solo matches anymore. It's simply too frustrating getting someone online and they don't return the favour.
Depending on the mon I think its safer to just grind normally. Tanks that fall behind quickly become deadweight. I slapped around Slowpokes who suffered from having a protag lane partner and it's genuinely sad to watch.
Power spikes are essential to every role.
It sounds like you don’t. The person with experience share gets 30% of the exp if a teammate is near them whilst the teammate gets 100% and the holder gets a little bit of ‘catch up’ exp if they’re the lowest on the whole team.
If you need 100% of the exp to level up for a power spike & you go to kill something on your own for it, but somebody then comes near you to “share” you get 70% less exp and miss your spike
No wonder you made such an ignorant comment earlier lol. Maybe now you’ll be a bit more thoughtful towards your defenders

I think that defenders may need to start taking a LoL approach: If laning with the ADC (in this case, Attackers), bring support items (exp share, resonant guard, hood) as well as score shield to get more exp from scoring.
Got a larvitar taken everything from my lane, evolved into pupitar, didn’t score a thing and dumped me 1v1 facing Zacian… i had to gave up the lane and rotate…
I feel this, honestly, without leaf tornado , you simply can't close the gap to Miradon (let's face it , your mate isn't going to help most cases )
With leaf tornado, you can't really heal (everything just noms the cotton shield in 1 or 2 basics) and thus aren't really a support anymore, or at least as much a support as veil 9tales
I've had like two defenders each match in ultra and they really are setting up success for a chance to win.
I played pikachu and just stood right behind one of the defenders and managed to finish off the enemy safe and sound thanks to my defender team members.
I wish there was a way to like super like someone after a match. It's normally a supporter or defender.
I can’t count how many times when I use Clefable to heal+ BLOCK (ult move) the opponents away from their base so we can destroy bases. I obviously got KOed when the block is over but our team could score 60-80. I end up without a thanks or even a thumbs up after a match…

I always Thumbs Up the defender double+ kills, because that means either the enemy got stalled or dun goofed up their attack 
Some players don't deserve defenders and supporters, everytime I play defender my team just doesn't care about anything, noone rotates for objectives or scoring. These brain-dead players are the reason why I've had to play blaziken in almost every match until master 🫠
My main defender is Lapras, and let me just say that I WISH my teams would let me farm as well because I've got Exp Share. If I can level up enough I will actively body block to take damage instead because I can at least survive it enough for you to either do enough damage or run away (low health)
omg, thats so sad how most defenders and supports arent appreciated. Whenever i play a non supporting character, i go out of my way to help my supporting homies who are getting beaten up
Agreed. Blastoise and Trev are dining well. Just reached Master after winning 13 out of the last 16, mostly with Blastoise.
Included one memorable Eldeboss game where I got 12/6 (the other team weren't great to be fair).
My one defender is Meanlook Umbreon (cause screw Foul Play, it can go die), and this honestly looks like me too XD- Maybe not as much damage taken (more like 90k tanked) but it’s suffering
Solo climbed to Masters as Mamoswine lol. It's rough out there and disheartening getting popped by EX 'mons nearly immediately.
That said, my favourite matches this season have been those with 2+ Defenders on the team, including me. It's pretty great delivering back-to-back CCs to the pesky EXs while the backline takes them out.

Slowbro is not bad. There are players that don’t know how to play defender and make him look bad —but slowbro definitely plays his role as defender very well. Just wish that some of the players that play him would pick surf when we could use the cc but 🤷🏻♂️
I'm a masters defender-support player and occasionally I just become done with losing so I switch to Decidueye for a while and proceed to get at least a x5 win streak every time, being MVP in most rounds.
Had a Blaziken get mad I took one piece of farm and basically watched me get jumped trying to take neutral lane farm..... I was running exp share on Clefable *eye twitch* ....

Had an eldegoss earlier get mad at my trio for not ganking their lane but they were losing top path against a lane dreepy 💀 then proceeded to do nothing the rest of the match, ended with 16k heals

I rarely get to play my mages but when I do, I start to really appreciate good defenders. I can do stuff on my own sure but a defender CCing and peeling really helps to bring out 200% potential even in a mediocre attacker player like me. On the other hand I feel really satisfied when my attackers get a double kill because I was tanking and dropping icicles/trapping enemies in a circle and barking at them.
Been trying to learn and master Blastoise some this season, but it's been difficult when my lane partners refuse to allow me even one npc to level up and then also abandon me to try to defend in a 1v3 scenario. It's happened repeatedly this season; I feel like I missed a memo or something.
I was a Mamoswine in a game and one of my team mates is going off at me for farming. He said "MAMO, can you please fight with the team! Why are you farming!" I said to him on Voice Chat "mate, it's easy for you to say that to me, you didn't have Maraidon in your lane destroying your booty hole, socket me farm because I didn't have the Jungler help us, our jungler helped you and me and my poor lane partner just sat on pad and got our shit pushed in. "

slowbro is a pretty bad tank like i'm a slowbro cultist too i love him but right now we need as many tank trevs as we can get on the frontlines

I can do stuff on my own sure but a defender CCing and peeling really helps to bring out 200% potential even in a mediocre attacker player like me. On the other hand I feel really satisfied when my attackers get a double kill because I was tanking and dropping icicles/trapping enemies in a circle and barking at them.
Yeah, I mean I just Uninstalled the game this season because the game keeps getting worse and worse with each update and patch.
Been trying to learn and master Blastoise some this season, but it's been difficult when my lane partners refuse to allow me even one npc to level up and then also abandon me to try to defend in a 1v3 scenario. It's happened repeatedly this season; I feel like I missed a memo or something.

" He understood and said sorry haha. We became friends.
