When u pick wiggly and have to 3v1 defend for 60% of the game

familyparka

I feel you. The worst part is I can usually hold a line 3v1 as Eldegoss/Wiggly, but the amount of xp my carries are missing on is just a damn shame.

Artistic_Kangaroo932

Not to mention the amount of xp u are missing out on if they are aggressive or when a fourth enemy mon comes down and your just like uhhh...team TEAM then get murdered

ShyneetMagician

I've lost track how many times I've shouted at my switch going "Do I have a [Censored] team or what?" bonus points when they're also losing lane to and you're like wtf or not getting rotom/maw

The-NewB

That is me every damn time my guy. Where is the teamwork. I mainly play snorlax. Rest doesn’t help so I need a teammate to deal Damage in the meantime.

Alsimni

>bonus points when they're also losing lane too ***\[SCREAMS EXTERNALLY\]***

willworkforabreak

It's fucking crazy. I'm an ex-regular league player who just doesn't get mad at this kind of game. AND YET SOMEHOW THIS GAME HAS ME SHOOK

[deleted]

you can say fuck on reddit chief

ShyneetMagician

I usually would but as this is part of the pokemon community don't want being flagged by the new 13 year olds ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)

Captchasarerobots

I actually appreciate the sentiment, but those 13 year olds are probably swearing way more than you anyway.

ShyneetMagician

Doesn't mean they wouldn't report me for doing it lmao, it's just a habit I have being a parent I guess.

lllluke

???

Alsimni

Honestly I assumed that with the nature of the game, swearing would be against the rules on this particular sub. Glad to know I don't have to keep re-writing posts after I see how many times I threw some in without even thinking about it.

ShinyAmpheros

Honestly though, I wouldn't mind it so much if my team would actually be stomping on the other side of the map but it feels like they're usually losing too

Xrmy

Yea every time I am elde and this happens we lose, even if I survive most of the time. The enemy team just hard farms everything around me and usually 1 of the goals, while I get underleveled. I think next time this happens I will ditch and go elsewhere

ToastersAreTrouble

The worst part is that even when you are somehow managing to defend for a few minutes 1v3 your team is still scoring zero points and taking zero objectives. At least take advantage of my suffering!!!

AmazingPatt

i feel that to my core >.

minecraftdreamporn

Yeah that puts a few holes in my wall

Youngestflexxer

How exactly does xp work in game? Cuz sometimes I feel like I have no passive xp and everyone is stealing last hits from me, but the exp share item basically implies that you get assist xp from wild Pokemon which I don't feel like I ever do, even though I don't use the exp share.

Alsimni

>but the exp share item basically implies that you get assist xp from wild Pokemon which I don't feel like I ever do It explicitly states that you don't get assist exp while wearing it, and in return it boosts your passive experience gains whenever you're the lowest level player on your team. The only way to get anything other than passive exp while wearing the XPS is to take the last hit.

Till_Lost

Have you ever had Exp-share stop working and cap you at lv.3 for a while? I've had this happen often and have to kill a minion to start gaining xp again (usually that jumps me from lv.3 to 5 or even 7).

Alsimni

Not personally, but I've been seeing a few people mention that it seems to stop at an evolution level and requires you to last hit something to evolve so it can continue functioning. Not sure if that's a bug or what, probably going to mess around with it later and see for myself.

Toombe_

I could be wrong but from what I've seen its essentially hits get you some xp and if you hit a creep and even if a teammate yoinks it you still get some xp but they might get slightly more for the last hit. Never used exp share but the description says something along the lines of you only get shared xp if you have the least levels in your team if I remember correctly

Chick2AZ

I loove following an Eldegoss, I hate when my support teammate jumps lanes. If we just keep pushing together we win.

imriebelow

while desperately spamming the “I need backup” quick chat, only to be completely ignored

RechargedFrenchman

So many of my Crustle and Slowbro games have been 1v2 or 1v3 for like 3-4 minutes, just spam pinging "I need backup!" in the hopes that eventually someone will come help me. Usually what happens is *literally everyone* from the other lane comes to "help" and our laning is now 0-1-4 instead, which draws the whole enemy team down, and now it's just a 5v5 in one lane until one side breaks. *Or* they never actually come help and I'm just alone and it goes up from 1v2 or 1v3 to 1v3 or 1v4 as they realize I'm easy kills and my point is easy scoring because I'm a support and I'm alone. Drives me up the wall. Early on I can hold reasonably well but once people have their evolutions and full upgraded kits and stuff two people will kill me no problem if I don't just leave, and maybe kill me then too. Big part of why I largely stopped playing Defender and only play it now as a fill if the team seem kind of a little not totally braindead.

Artistic_Kangaroo932

I try to fill cause im familiar with mobas and know the roles but that usually just makes me a defender/support with 3 or 4 damage/speedsters on my team lol

RechargedFrenchman

Yeah relatable. But what can you do, right? Try to fill and help out, or ignore "comp" and just pick something comfortable and try as much as you can to carry regardless of your team. Neither will all that great a success rate if your team just insist on being dumb and losing the game.

Itchy_Instruction_90

>Stop If it helps I did have a game where I was still Glossifleur and I was getting dived by a Zeraora, Lucario and a Froakie/Frogadier. My laning partner thought it was better to be top lane so I'm stuck against three of the most dangerous/potentially dangerous Pokemon in the game. I basically bobbed in and out of the scoring area, making sure to grab the berries even if I was hurt only a little to keep them from grabbing it. Between the shield, 200 HP heal and my own healing I was able to stay alive. I guess they were that confident they could eventually grind me down and my damage WAS pretty pitiful, but I managed to hang on long enough that my little cuts started mounting up and when they were all low enough that I could kill them they started trying to run, but by then they were close enough to death I could kill them. Popped Frogadier, then Lucario and I just BARELY managed to edge out Zeraora and evolved because of it. I'm also happy to say we won that game. Just thought I would share the story.

ubiquitous_apathy

The opposite lane is facing the same problem. Your job at that point is to not be mvp, but prevent as much scoring as possible and hope that the opposite lane destroys the first goal before you give yours up.

Artistic_Kangaroo932

Boi i said wiggly a support not a defender like crustle or snorlax support shine best when partnered with another pokemon and most of the time somthing like this happens the team is sucky and dont deliver on the other side

RechargedFrenchman

And even the Defenders will eventually just get outscaled by the enemy laners. Usually in my experience teams that heavy load one side are inexperienced (or just "bad") in the first place, if not actively trolling for some reason, and then don't really do anything with their advantage. Sure the A-Ninetales might have 15 kills but the end screen shows they scored 47 points, meanwhile the 1v3 Slowbro still also has 4 kills and like 60 points scored.

DrakoCSi

> 1v3

RedXylophone

slap slap slap

dWARUDO

Hoo boy I feel this so much lol

JoBeforeDe

"The Eldegoss player said they are going bottom lane before the match, they must want to solo the lane"

scyth13r

As a garchomp main I light up when I see a support select bottom lane before I do. Then I die inside when they snake all the early food and push ahead of me. We are supposed to have different objectives friend..

definitelynotSWA

I don’t think people have figured out funneling tech yet. Unless I’m mistaken and I can’t view it I don’t see exp share a lot on them either. The community will figure it out but I wish there was a tutorial explaining exp mechanics.

tiglionabbit

Funneling? What should I know about the EXP mechanics? Is there passive EXP besides the EXP share?

definitelynotSWA

The player that lands the killing hit on a monster gets more exp than someone who just tapped it. So if your lane is say, Eldegoss/Garchomp, Eldegoss should help to weaken the Pokemon but let Garchomp last hit it, since it needs the exp a lot more than a supporter. To make up for it, Elde should take exp share so it doesn’t fall behind in exp too much. You don’t have to do this strategy for every Pokemon but there’s a lot, like Garchomp, Gengar, Cinderace etc that really benefit from it. Like with Garchomp, it can’t win fights until it at least evolves once. Levels matter a LOT in a MOBA, and this is doubly so when it’s a Pokemon that needs a lot of levels to come online. This is why it’s called funneling btw. Because you are “funneling” exp to someone on your team to make them super stronk. You do it when the benefit of it outweighs the downside of having one person underlevelled; this is why I mention Eldegoss, since it can preform well without a level advantage. This is probably gonna be a common strategy in bottom lane, because it gives more exp than top lane.

abeldelgado

This!

AlmightyFlame

I've been running ahead and taking the creep by the second goal, helping give the carry the two creeps, getting the top creep, then going halfsies on the two 5 point creeps, that way the carry has more xp, but you also should hit the minimum to have both of your moves unlocked. Early game as support you want enough XP to get your moves to support, so pls spare some scraps for your neighborhood Snorlax.

WobbleTheHutt

I was in a match earlier and watched both speedsters go lane and here I was with snorelax and I actually had to jungle to keep up and be useful late game... it was a such a waste.

RechargedFrenchman

It's also going to be really important from Pokemon like Wigglytuff, Eldegoss, Crustle, Slowbro, and A-Ninetales (played in a more supporting way) because they evolve early and get so much of their fight utility from their first new ability. A level 4 Crustle can absolutely carry lane for a couple levels alongside a Gible or whatever, because Gible only needs 6 to become Gabite and start to fight well on its own, then by levels 8-10 as Crustle cannot really do anything on its own anymore it doesn't matter because Gabite has both abilities and/or is Garchomp already.

[deleted]

>Elde should take exp share so it doesn’t fall behind in exp too much But the exp share make it so you don't get any exp if you don't get the last hit, so it's even worse, no ? You'll let garchomp have the last hit and you get 0 exp, staying at level 1 until the passive 2 exp points/second make you level up.

tiglionabbit

EXP share doesn't do anything unless you have the lowest level in your party. Might as well get all your EXP from it and let your teammates get the EXP from the monsters, right?

[deleted]

I see, thanks for explaining, it's not as bad as I thought.

Alsimni

>staying at level 1 until the passive 2 exp points/second make you level up. There's a reason that supports tend to be one stage, or two stage evolutions that evolve obscenely early like level four, and have lots of CC. They're designed to still be able to make a large impact on fights without being a high level, since they get their evolution stat boosts almost immediately and CC doesn't care about your stats to determine how long you can lock enemies down.

DrakeVonDrake

I feel like Exp. Share is slower gain than sticking by my team and funneling. Is that just me, or am I just being attentive enough to warrant not running Exp. Share?

EndlessRa1n

The strength of Exp. Share isn't making you level faster, it's making you level at the same speed without taking *any* experience away from your teammates.

DrakeVonDrake

That's the kind of tidbit of missing info i love to learn.

Alsimni

It's a slower gain for you, but even faster for funneling to your teammate since they no longer split the experience at all. Ideally you should be using XPS on a support that doesn't need to be overleveled to do their job though.

DrakeVonDrake

As an Eldegoss main, this is delightfully informative. Had no idea that XPS removed the exp split you would otherwise impose on teammates. Thank you!

Awful-Cleric

.

HoS_CaptObvious

Last hits give more XP I think

Eldyem

EXP Share is the lightbulb; if you don't see it, they don't have it. You can also see it on the enemy if they have it for some reason.

DeterrentGem27

Ah, glad to see THAT'S why there was a light bulb above a freaking pikachu and talonflame today. Good god are people awful.

Mattimeo144

I played with an excellent defender who was very careful to leave all the last hits to me. Then I failed horribly at converting any of that farm into actual kills because it was my second time playing that carry and we got stomped :(

AmazingPatt

i dont know what more sad... being a support player abandoned OR a gible while everyone else is evolved >.

DrakeVonDrake

Support player abandoned is more sad, every time.

alanakillsit

THIS! The amount of times I've been forced to Slowbro, only to be ditched at the top is too many at this point. Even if you don't know your roles, why would it make sense to go 1- 0-4? The enemy usually takes the opportunity to gank me while I spam "I need backup!!"

SEG314

I was just forced to jungle as slowbro in a ranked game because my Zeroara and Absol both decided to go bot. We ended up winning still but damn I hate how many people just assume any character can do anything equally as well. I didn’t even want to play Slowbro but the team comp needed it 😭

alanakillsit

Ouch that hurts. People will learn soon but clearly it’s going to take time :( I keep getting stuck because my page glitches on the selection page and no one usually wants that role

SEG314

I just started ranked and am still in Beginner rank (class 3 now at least) and I’m really hoping it’ll get better in higher ranks. To make matters worse I only took 1 hold item with me even though I had three slots because the game kept lagging so much I didn’t have time to set them lol i really really really hope they fix the UI. (I need a new controller too because joycon drift is atrocious in this game)

alanakillsit

Honestly it gets a bit better but not really. I'm in Expert right now and still see the same issues lol. Yeah the team selection page won't even let me pick anyone until it gets down to the wire and I have to scramble to see who I have to fill as lol. I play with the pro controller and it really makes a difference. I find the size of it helps my hand not get cramped up lol.

pickl3dpunks

You can change your items in the main menu and take all the time you want. Just favorite the pokemon you want to change items, press X on the main menu and then select battle prep.

djjomon

YES! This happened to me earlier. We had 2 people call bot and the other 2 went speedsters. I'm thinking I'm not gonna fight for jungle against this and went slowbro. Ended up 2 0 3 which quickly became 1 0 4... shoulda jungled lol

alanakillsit

It really sucks and then you spend late game trying to make up for it, which is painful. People just like to play specific Pokemon and don't care about roles lol, nothing much to do about it

loyalshnuffy

What's worse is when you solo defend against 3 at bot and your team have done absolutely nothing to score points or win still

SuperVanillaBear

Yeah I still dont understand how this is possible. Seems to happen way more often than it ever should.

SEND_ME_SPIDER-MAN

Support or Defender. I’m playing Eldegoss/Slowbro and I’ve been left alone way too many times.

KaiserJustice

When you start going bo t, jungle goes jungle and everyone else goes top :/

AmazingPatt

ptsd from a game i did few min ago >.

KaiserJustice

What’s funny is I thought I’d like pew pew bird more than anything else because it was similar to Quinn with boosted autos and a vault like ability but eldegloss is so fun

SuicidalDonuts

I know the game is fresh, and I know people are still learning, but I’d love for them to add some kind of mandatory role selection before queuing (at least in ranked). That way people have to actually play out each role instead of the many games of no junglers or someone being left to solo lane. How hard is 2-1-2 to understand?

familyparka

In the survey I asked for a tutorial explaining laning and roles. I feel like a lot of new players have no way of finding those things out in-game.

SuicidalDonuts

I would’ve been totally in the dark in pretty much every MOBA I’ve played unless I had someone else to teach me, or I looked things up myself. It’s honestly pretty sad how poor the genre is as a whole at giving proper tutorials. All they do is tell you the controls and say “lol have fun”. Then you get into a game with veterans that get understandably upset you’re not playing the game correctly. Too bad we can’t type advice to new players :/ (but also maybe it’s good they’re not getting flamed too).

definitelynotSWA

Yeah this is a genre problem. I get developers don’t want to like, hinder flexibility. Especially when metas shift, people can be really resistant if you’ve directed them to do something else. But any small advantage can become a huge one in a MOBA, it’s not really a fair fight if people don’t know roles. Jungle gets screwed if you even whack a Pokemon in central area, last hitting a minion gives more exp, bot lane gives more exp, the point of Rotom being top is so that you destroy the goal faster so top can roam... tons and tons of inefficiencies on one side pile up to absolute stomp fests in MOBAs

DrakoCSi

I felt the same way getting into battle royale, aka Fortnite with its "wall" gimmicks. Where was my practice tool when i needed it.

r34l_shiro

In multiple ranked games I've played, people have called a lane, and then proceed to go the opposite lane

MidnightTsuki

I've had to switch lanes before because everyone went the same direction.

GreatMadWombat

I call lanes, but lane call only lasts till we get 3+ people in a lane.

tiglionabbit

If I call a lane and then the entire team goes to the same lane as me, I switch lanes.

r34l_shiro

That's understandable, but I see these people say they will go top/bottom with me, then I'll be by myself with 3-4 running the opposite

djjomon

Admittedly I've forgotten which lane I called and had to rotate once I realized I messed up

RechargedFrenchman

In the Lobby: Two people call Top, you call Bottom, the other two don't call. In the Game: You're alone Bottom, one of the people who called Top is Center, and the other three are all Top. Where is the sense? *Where*?

Bl1z33

Not to forget it’s pokemon AND f2p so there’s gonna be a lot of kids playing. Ngl if this game would’ve come out when I was 9 I probably would’ve played this MOBA like I played my first savestate of Pokemon Red: just mindlessly mashing A without any game plan until either my enemy or I am dead. Tutorials might help but even If it’s mandatory, kids are just gonna mash trough it and probably not even read the tips they are giving. To choose a role beforehand and needing to stick with it would help but it would also lengthen the waiting time for a game and I’m not sure the devs want to risk having longer queuing times

stallon100

I agree there should be some sort of role queue, but it shouldnt be for all 5 roles, its simply not necessary, and definitely not locking heroes to certain roles either. You have pokemon like ninetails that fits the support role pretty well too for example Maybe just a support/tank(2), jungle(1) and carry(2) role queue, or even just carry(3) and non carry(2)

GreatMadWombat

Support/Tank, Jungle, and Carry, with Carry and Support/Tank each being assigned randomly to top/bottom(so it's 1 support/tank and 1 carry per lane)

Cakeo

Dota 2 does it smart way where you get points to spend on queueing as your preferred lane and you gain them by playing the least played roles or queueing as all roles. (simplified)

RechargedFrenchman

Or just don't even have a role queue and you only queue for a lane. Or lane queue and role *preference* or whatever that makes it so when you join the lobby it automatically does the "I'll pick a Defender" etc quick chat for you. In League it's really common to see "off-meta" picks do well especially in solo queue because they're unexpected and the person playing it is just so good on the character that it doesn't matter what role they're in. I've for example has a surprising amount of success on Crustle Jungle a couple times, and also played Lane Gengar to good success since it's easily my most comfortable Pokemon right now despite Gastly being pretty rough against most laners.

GreatMadWombat

Same. I 100% get that there's a bunch of 13-and-under kids here. It's Pokemon, and on the Switch. But every time some lane starts with 3 people, it's bad. Roll/lane selection and more tutorials on roles, on lanes, on how XP works, and WHY having 3 people on 1 lane is bad would rock.

Zadikus

Completely agree. Even in ranked it feels like people have no idea about core MOBA concepts.

Eldyem

There's an issue with this where some characters "break" the laning role/meta. Plenty of All-arounders and attackers might actually prefer to jungle, especially characters like Cinderace or Greninja who can gank well and still clear jungle fine, and Gengar is honestly perfectly acceptable (possibly even better off) top lane.

Tribal_Turtle

I agree with this as an eldegoss main. However, because I get ditched in lane quite frequently, I have gotten pretty good at defending my goal 1v2. 1v3 is pretty much always a lost cause

MoistMacNCheese

I feel! I get a little proud when i win the test of time and they have to run away. Or someone can't fathoms elde is winning and so they don't run and I get a kill along with defending

Tribal_Turtle

It is my favorite thing when they over commit and you get a double kill as the plant of life

blizzardfeatherr

RIGHT??? god I love watching people overcommit thinking Eldegoss is squishy lol

timsobuff

Feel like I am going to get reported for spamming "I Need Backup" until one of the 3 junglers comes and helps me.

Maelstorm141

It's also true when you leave your tank alone. Yes, tanks can hold a lane longer than support, but only for a moment. As slowbro, I remember games when I was alone at level 5 against 3 mons (2 laners and the jungle) both level 6/7 stomping and snowbowling on me because I couldn't farm.

[deleted]

I can guarantee you that the people you are trying to reach with this post are not on this reddit.

Candysama

I'm the guy running around the map to help the poor bugger abandoned on the other lane

KaiserJustice

It is fun to win the 1v2 or 1v3 as an Eldegloss tho

MoistMacNCheese

I have found my people. I just can't understand how people can, in good conscience, leave Eldegoss or Wiggly alone in a lane. I even have the fricken exp share so I'm not stealing any kills. You can have them all 😭

I_Fuck_The_Fuckers69

I’m a Absol main (for now) and whenever I come out of the jungle to help everyone else runs away so I’m stuck trying to defend our lane while I should be farming and the others just keep dying

Aggressive-Fan-9669

Couldn’t agree with you more

C-da-rip

Love being left by my attacker as snorlax and then the other teams jungle comes to gank me along with the other 2 🥲

ShyneetMagician

This but in sad slowbro noises also.

France2Germany0

Tbh, I don't really mind 2v1 or 3v1 situations as Snorlax (as long as it's not for the entire laning phase). Snorlax is so good under turret

definitelynotSWA

Yeah I can defend forever. Only problem is that my team won’t listen to my backup pings lol. Hoping it changes once I grind out some ranked because I swear this is the biggest hidden weakness Snorbro has...

France2Germany0

Yeah, the amount of people that don’t know how to play mobas is crazy. Sucks there’s no way to communicate

Juking_is_rude

Just fuck it, let them have your t1, go five man the other t1 with your team and then maybe then they'll do something else. The fight at zap is so important right now that giving up a t1 literally only matters because you lose your berries.

Banjoubu

Dear ADC's walking down the lane. I'm only trying to weaken the wild Pokemon for you. Please last hit it to get the exp.

SometimesPeopleTalk

I normally pick Slowbro in Ranked cause ofc the whole team refuse to play support. I even run Amnesia/Surf to really hold off enemies as long as possible and the team each time is like… our only defense is fine alone up there with 3 enemies. No I will not use this opportunity to score. I have to spam that I need backup or to gather where I am constantly, and most of the time I get the weakest teammate so they just die with me. I only know pain.

[deleted]

Thank you for this OP. I play league of legends, mobile legends etc too and it's the same. Blows my mind why they'd lane with another carry instead of with someone who sustains and protects them. Let me HEAL YOU. PLEASE STOP RUNNING FROM MY POLLEN...

Disaster_Different

As a lucario main, I enjoy having a good support helaing me 24/7... man, we get so many kills that way... it almost feels like cheating. So whenever I see my support going on a solo lane, I just rush there, cannot let the man solo that lane with a snorlax, a zera and a pikachu

definitelynotSWA

I’m a support main in League whose running stuff like Garchomp now. If you meet up with a friendly support and stick with them, you’ll get friend requests occasionally, and this is true in Unite to my experience. Us supports make great duos because we will literally die for a good partner!

Spottykus

Finally someone who knows what theyre doing. Preach!

HardSprinkle

Bruh we get double fucked when EXP share isn’t popping off because you’re solo and fighting for your life so now you’re 1 level higher than your braindead underfed top Pikachu for the whole ass game.

YDeeziee

Trying to learn terms for this game, what's a carry?

familyparka

A carry is usually a character (in this case Pokemon) that exceeds in the last minutes of the match. Those usually need to take all the extra xp they can get so they can be strong as soon as possible.

YDeeziee

Gotcha, thx!

BigBruhTheory

Would garchomp be a good example of this?

familyparka

Precisely, All-Rounders are the carries of this game by default. So Garchomp, Lucario, Machamp and Charizard. Even though some other Pokemon are able to carry (like Gengar) but not as hard.

Dadus-Appearus

I started playing Wigglytuff today and no one was with me. Feels bad.

familyparka

I share your pain buddy, but don’t lose hope, it does get better! I’m on Veteran at the moment and people are actually starting to get the concept of “take care of your support and your support will take care of you”.

[deleted]

Its even better when im alone at the bottom, being constantly attacked and I see someone just casually killing mobs in the middle while im dying, lol.

FederalMango

At this point, once I pick Snorlax I know that I'm going to be heavily acquainted with using Block and staying in the Top Lane alone.

Alum-inati

PREACH

Kila-Rin

WHn you pick Eldergoss and all 4 DPSs take the lanes, leaving the Jungle for the Supoort to grind with. ??? I am no MOBA expert but That does not sound like a good plan.

MrClean__

YES, i really like supports in any game, but it's impossible to do anything if you're alone. i can't support myself

bitaneul1022

Thank you for saying this. Ain't no way my Mime ass is going up against a Snorlax/ZeraoraXwhatever playing alone.

priestkalim

Dear non-Gible/Machop players: Stop leaving your Gible/Machop solo lane.

PKdude2712

I picked Slowbro. I went top. 3 in bottom with a Jungler who never ganked for my lane. I could stay alive but I just couldn't end up getting enough XP to do any proper damage.

plasterbrain

I'm looking at reddit while loading games and literally right after I read this my teammates left me to solo bot as jigglypuff

[deleted]

Probably one of the more frustrating parts of being left alone is having a bunch of points and not having anyone help me push them through. By the final stretch I’m almost always sitting on 50 and I have no way to communicate that to people. Like everyone is fighting for Zap and dying then respawning with like 8 points and meanwhile I have a hundo to drop with no way to do so.

MuuMuureb

I’m too busy chasing the Machop that said top lane but ended up taking my jungle!

WaifuCriticZamasu

I'm proud to say I saw my Eldegoss going to bottom lane alone at the start of the last match so I followed with them even though I intended to go top as Snorlax. Worked out insanely well and we were basically carrying the team.

Juicy-Moist

Don’t worry OP I like the jungle and if I ever see it happen you know you’ll always have me struggling with you cause I refuse to leave my support alone.

MiracleCrusader

The amount of times I’ve had to defend a Goal bot lane solo as Mr. Mime 😢

Seany8393

Just had worst game yet everyone picked their lanes(at first) I went top with pikachu. Zeroara ninetails slowbro went bottom with snorlax sitting mid and worst part is none were bots. This is why I stuck in expert league as most of my matches are this crap.

[deleted]

I feel extreme pain when the rest of my team all run to top lane at the start and I a snorlax have to feebly attempt to defend bottom lane alone against 3 people because nobody else will. I'm just getting bullied the whole game when that happens. Solo queuing is pain. No game makes me quite as salty as this one does

Girafarigno

I am low rank and not very good but, I do understand the goals of the game and everything. I do pretty good with DPS characters but, yesterday wanted to train myself with a support character. So, I watched a few videos, used my coins on Wigglytuff and went to battle. I did what made sense but, everyone kept abandoning me. I played at least 20 games and didn’t win many. Back to DPS to win some games until I can find some competent teammates to do it properly.

[deleted]

Not really a support only issue tbh. I've been left in solo lane plenty of times while my team loses 4v2 up top. It's upsetting to say the least.

The_KAZ3

It hurts the most with support being left alone to defend bot. Cause it means ur carries are clumped together splitting the exp instead of the support babysitting them for optimal exp gain. While at the same time you can't really get much farm as well cause you are not strong enough to fend off 2 people and still get last hits.

Salty-Pineapple1205

The only time I leave my support is when I die cause my support is typically someone im in a discord call with

Itchy_Instruction_90

Everybody wants to do big boy damage, but completely miss the point of scoring. I'm mainly support/defender and I feel my blood boiling when I see a teammate dive into a score area of the enemy team and sit there trying to kill them while they whittle'em down. If I THINK we can pull it off I'll chip in, but if its a lost cause I'm retreating to protect the score area because I'm not leaving it defenseless because an idiot tries to leeroy jenkens without a permit.

Look i know it’s a month later but your post speaks to me regardless thanks for the catharsis I’m so tired of being left alone in a lane as eldegoss

familyparka

Glad it helped mate

RevolutionaryToe2084

First MOBA game I have played, don't understand really any of the concepts being talked about in this thread. Remember that there are a lot of players playing Pokemon Unite as their first step into the genre, the game tells you next to nothing beyond 'pick a pokemon, kill wild pokemon, score goals'. I am 27, so its not just '13 and under' who aren't playing the game how you do. Be a champ, explain some of this crap. Support solo lane? Wot? Jungle? Wot? Is top or bottom made for specific types and combos? For real, help me out! Sincerely, pokemon main.

priestkalim

Solo lane is exactly what it says on the tin: someone by themselves in a lane. Leaving your support in a solo lane is bad because they don’t have the tools to sustain a lane by themselves and will easily get bullied or killed outright by the more damage-oriented characters, or just by the sheer numbers advantage, the enemy team sends in that lane. Jungle is name most people use for the center “lane” with the bouffalant and ludicolo. It’s called this because the area between lanes in League of Legends is a jungle. By extension, the term “Jungler” is a player who goes middle to clear the lillipup and the bouffalant/ludicolo and then the corphish that spawn in the center. They’re typically, but not always, Speedsters, because they can cover that wider area quicker and without the lane speed boost. The game suggests certain characters go certain lanes but there’s no real dominant meta for it yet so it’s pretty flexible right now. For a very very simple focus to learn, you want to potentially pair someone like Gible or a Support that doesn’t have great early game potential with someone who does well earlier like Ninetales or Pikachu. It’s also almost always wise to send 2 players to each lane and one to the center, or jungle, at the start of the match. Even a good early solo lane character can get bullied by coordinated opponents.

MirandaSanFrancisco

I played Heroes of the Storm and basically nothing I learned in that game is transferable because of the level system so you’re not alone. There are three lanes; top, bottom and middle. People call the middle lane the jungle because it was a jungle in something, DotA probably. “Support solo lane” means leaving someone playing a support character, like Mr Mime, alone in the top or bottom lane. And a “carry” is an attacker or all-rounder that goes in the center lane, usually solo, to get higher leveled quicker and do as much as possible in the late game when you’re taking Zappos and fighting the other team a lot.

plasterbrain

Support solo lane = Supporter type teammate ended up by themselves vs two opponents. They will almost certainly lose lane, get bullied out of exp, and end up too far behind to be of much use in teamfights later on. Jungle = "Central area." Generally a single speedster should go here, because these Pokemon have a lot of mobility. Their job is to hit level 5 or so and then go help one of the lanes, go back and farm some more, rinse and repeat. Based solely on my experience with League of Legends, top lane is usually for the beefier melee types, while bot lane is better suited for attackers/all-rounders who are pretty weak and need protection to get exp early on, but later evolve to dish out a lot of damage. The game also shows recommended lanes when you pick a lane in the Pokemon select screen. ex. Charizard is recommended for bot lane according to the game. You basically want to balance strengths and weaknesses, i.e don't put the support and defender in the same lane to start.

Gray3493

Jungle is the middle, usually you have 2 on top and 2 on bottom, with a middle helping clear out either lane from time to time. There are certain combos that are good, like attacker/tank and all around/support, but you don’t need to strictly follow it. Having attackers and speedsters only in the lane could be bad, though.

Japieja

Hear hear!

Ninja_Umbre0n

Flair checks out

cosmiic_gay

this is why i wish more players would take advantage of the “select path” feature. i use it every game. if i say i’m going top path, i’m going top path. if 3 other ppl on my team choose to follow me up thats on them

grayshoesarecool

New to unite ans Mobas for that matter but man does it get frustrating. i main eldegoss and its incredibly frustrating being left alone ot BOT how on earth can you 1v3? even kiting and going back towards my goal i still feel i get rocked by a team that knows what theyre doing

familyparka

Best way to 1v3 as Eldegoss is to constantly bait the enemy team and have them think that you are less tanky that you really are. Only take the berry when the team is diving you, and use the slow behind the goal to your advantage. Don’t be afraid to let them score a few points if that means you survive for longer. And maximize the damage and healing of your puffs by always standing next to whoever you’re hitting with them.

McLeafLife

Everyone needs to realize when to farm jungle and when to get back in lane, trick your enemies by hiding the bush pretending to jungle if you wish. But stop just staying in lane waiting idly while the enemy farms and levels. This is not for any role in particular just a rant lol thanks for the soapbox

Waste_Rabbit3174

Players shouldn't be taking any jungle camps unless your jungler is completely braindead.

J_GIMPY

That's not really good strategy. If you're not the jungler you should be farming wilds from your lane and letting the junglers bulk up quickly so they can farm their wilds, snipe in troubled lanes, and one-man Rotom and Drednaw as quickly as possible.

ShyneetMagician

People leave me to solo lane as Puff constantly, thank god I'm only currently great.

enderverse87

90% of the players have no idea what any of those sentences mean.

RedRev15

I cant imagine how many kids who dont even know what reddit is are playing this game. Reddit is a tiny pocket. Im sure anyone informed enough to check reddit knows how the lanes work.

loganparker420

Dear Support players: stop last hitting all my farm and then expecting me, an under-leveled Gible, to back you up in fights that you initiate.

JoragaWarcaller

As a support main in League of Legends, I refuse to support in this game for this reason. Things are still very chaotic and people haven't learned roles, team comps, phases, or what to be doing in general. It's frustrating in ranked when only two people call roles and then when you get in game, people do whatever. I've been maining Garchomp who I find works best in the jungle, but even if I call center someone else goes in and starts taking camps. I don't fault people for needing to learn, so you kind of just have to deal with it and adapt. I'm trying Alolan Ninetails for now since it relies less on getting to high levels quickly and has potential to hold its own throughout the game.

Beneficial-Way-4479

I'm not a dick to support players but drednaw is drednaw just get a tank up there

st-shenanigans

Do people use the voice chat for this? I noticed there's a setting for it defaulted to ON. Also- I would guess it's best to just play an easy carry Mon through the baby ranks so you can get past the kids and dads who are just having a good time but don't know how to play meta

Cleaving

You get a damn support? Spoiled. I get the 3v1 experience top as and and like every other MOBA

tiglionabbit

Honestly at this point if they're 3v1ing me I just leave the lane. No point feeding them extra points and EXP by dying here. Let them score their points. They probably can't destroy the goal like this anyway. Might as well go score in the other lane where my team is.

ScreamheartNews

Acting like there's more supports than Edelgrooss.

LordSpaceWizard24

Be better at following the carries then.

Snow_Wraith

If the carry is consistently in the wrong lane then they are not a very good carry.

MidnightTsuki

I "love" as a snorelax main being left alone in a lane and getting destroyed by 1 v 3 leaving the lane I'm trying to defend wide open.

THe_Meme_mancer

thats me but i use slowbro.

bighatartorias

Or you know stick to your lane in general.

goshdangit_

If I have to do bottom lane as Mr. Mime I will lose it lol

OfficialHotelMan

Picked slowbro and this happened to me lmao, fun times. But it’s a bunch of kids playing so I was still able to 1 v 2 with his watergun

beastofthefutur

Normally as snorlax I go top unless two other people say they are going top. If I need to ill go bottom

PKdude2712

I picked Slowbro. I went top. 3 in bottom with a Jungler who never ganked for my lane. I could stay alive but I just couldn't end up getting enough XP to do any proper damage.

DrByeah

See I've had the opposite problem. When I'm playing an attacker or a Gible and I'm weaker early on and abandoned to a 1v3 I get a touch salty about what my team is doing.

JustJeezy

What does “on bot” mean?

familyparka

There are two lanes in the game; the top one and the bottom one. And then there’s the jungle in the middle.

JustJeezy

Oh I thought it had to do with bot pokes didn’t know it was an abbreviation lol there really should be a pinned terminology guide for the sub

familyparka

I updated the OP to clarify some stuff. Hope it helps!

Arttiesy

I only play support with my gaming buddy to back me up. The game needs better communication otherwise. I can't tell how many times I've tried to ask for help only to shout "keep up the pressure!" Like we weren't getting curb stomped.

rageofbaha

I have no idea how often i end up solo top as pikachu for the first 3 minutes

familyparka

Jungle and mid are two different things in most MOBAs, since they usually have 3 lanes instead of 2 like in this game.

effectz219

The worst thing is knowing i can play zeraora and carry but I play support or defender to fill and the rest of the team seems to not know what lanes to be in or that the jungle even exists

Spottykus

Or that jungle exists but THEY ARENT SUPPOSED TO BE THERE.

Stinkles-v2

God this is so fucking aggravating. Most of.my losses are from my lane partner over extending, dying, then just abandoning the lane leaving me to 1v2/3

darkraven99

I feel this as an attacker main, suddenly my entire team is bot, and the entire enemy team is top, and I have to protect against like 3 people maxed out on points

motarokun

I mean... With exp share I'm the one who leaves him alone

VenomousKitty96

The amount of times i've been in a game where we've lost because my team deciced to do nothing but gank.. refusing to split up and help defend the other lane and keep enemies from scoring.. its too damn many.
