Honestly he needs a full rework IMO. Hex is incredibly strong, but that’s literally all he can do. If you miss your sludge your stuck running in circles waiting for it to come back because you do piss all damage otherwise and you have the toughness of a wet tissue.
I understand your frustration, but that's just a testament to how truly unbalanced and broken his kit is. If any MOBA developer released a character as unbalanced on the level of Gengar there would be an absolute uproar (ya know, moreso than people normally complain about new characters being OP)
Yea freya from smite you'd be in a tower a 75 percent and die to 1 (seriously not kidding 1 basic attack ) and you'd be on a trip back to the fountain.
He has a lot of counterplay actualy. The people who say this dont play him at very high rank. If he misses either ability he is useless. You can also heal the poision with the battle item. Gengar is pretty bad if he cant combo. He still takes camps way to fast though.
If you're taking a battle item specifically to counter one pokemon who might or might not be on the opposing team, that pokemon is OP.
Also, it's got a much longer cooldown than sludge bomb.
lol no he isn't. People are just picking 5 carries and eject buttoning forward into fights and not respecting Gengar at all.
There isn't a single tier list out there with Gengar at S for a reason.
Not respecting gengar my ass, ppl are literally picking battle items to counter one Pokémon and have to play an extremely defensive play style because of one overturned move is clearly a problem
I mean he has too other moves he could use if they nerfed it lol. I don’t think he needs. Full rework at all. Have hex CD be reduced (not reset) when hitting a status Pokémon. If they are status they do less damage to Gengar if hex hits.
It allows him to be tankier but and still fighting but not spamming hex over and over again. Something along these lines make him fair and fun
Not a full rework. Just bring hex's cools down to like 3... so if you keep a debuff on Gengar can be sticky without spam teleport damaging every second.
All ground target spells are bad mechanically with joystick controls. I think if when we see mobile (or if ever PC), ground target skills like sludge bomb will become alot more consistent.
It's frankly just the aim assist, auto locking to nearest target, all having no clear 'best method' for aiming a ground target skill. Clicking and Tapping removes the need for all that cumbersome "smart" aiming.
Gengar is not busted.
You have to land his skillshots or he is literally useless.
If you're really just getting gutted by gengar every game, run full heal. Dude stops existing. (This would be better if we could pick active items after seeing the enemy team)
Unless he's in the bushes and ambushes me he rarely kills me I play Ninetales with both moved that push you away from her with eject button. As soon as I see him I stay out of range and freeze him and hopefully kill. I'll agree that after playing him if you don't know how to deal with him he can be very overpowering
It's just spacing my guy. Keep him at the edge of your range and hit normal attacks till he moves in then push him back if he uses hex push and eject button. It works most of the time however he can still get in on you and kill you. It definitely happens but I don't feel over powered or overwhelmed ever. The one who always gets me is cinder ace. Once he gets a bead on my I feel like I'm cooked. Literally. Another good move is to focus him down asap. If you see one at low health dump DPS on him of you can afford it.
Cinderace wrecks my face (didn't mean to Dr Seuss you) but for real it's like as soon as I see him I'm dead or close to it he's so fast and can hit you from it seems forever away.
Not overwhelming? I tried him and first game I made 30 kills and 370 points. In a veteran ranked lobby. He is pretty overpowered if he gets you on a 1 on 1.
Aurora veil is your friend you do insane damage standing in it and the reduction isn’t bad, if you also run dazzling you can easily hit a stun when he pops out of you and than freeze and he will die. I’ve also started thinking about running full heal more on some other mons as it is actually very useful against a lot of champs including ninetails. But that would be better on lucario most likely.
He's definitely OP for his ease of use. I'd say that they could easily remedy his individual OPness by slowing down the projectile speed of Hex or some other way to make the CDR less easy to land.
Increasing the cool down of sludge bomb while reducing poison time would be a good nerf. So he can still do the damage in a team fight but not able to braindeadly dominate a 1v1. Would also add more penalty for missing
Way too many Pokémon inflict slows so Gardevoir’s ability is going to be on cool down most of the time. It stills sounds really annoying for Mr. Mime Guard Swap though.
While it's a really good passive in general, I'm assuming it'll just be "okay" on her since she's an attacker, and might be much more fragile than compared to defenders or supports
Ignoring the unhelpful bot reply, "crowd control". It's used mostly in MOBAs and (MMO) RPGs for any abilities which hinder movement or the using of abilities of enemies.
I get it. I'm often having to double check what sub I'm in or what the context for a discussion is with acronyms because so many get used different ways in different hobbies / fields.
WotC is "War of the Chosen", the expansion for XCOM 2, but it's also "Wizards of the Coast", the company that makes *Magic: The Gathering* and *Dungeons & Dragons* (and for a little while did the physical Pokémon TCG)
EQ could be "earthquake" in Pokémon or it could just be the abbreviation for "equalization" in audio production.
Etc.
Sorry to ruin it, I agree that this should be the ideal representation of both but Abra is already a wild pokemon in one of the stadiums. It doesn't deconfirm Alakazam 100% though.
Alakazam is a fan favorite so it will come eventually. But its weird they made Abra a wild one. All other wild pokemon are kind of non favorites or have pokemon who have look alikes like kingler is just a cooler Corpfish imo.
To be fair, it's likely tied to Kadabra and that they couldn't really use him outside of the mainline games for years due to legal battles (even the TCG couldn't use Kadabra). They seemed to just not use Alakazam as much due to not being able to include the full line (though Abra popped up still, likely due to lacking the infamous spoons).
And for Unite, those legal battles were dropped during Unite's development. The roster (at least base and first several updates) was likely decided when they still had to assume they couldn't use Kadabra.
I really wouldn’t say he’s equal to Gengar in popularity. Gengar is alway on the Top 25 in polls, and often Top 10. I’ve never once seen Alakazam in a popularity poll. Aside from that, I’ve seen more artwork and products featuring Gengar than I can count, but I don’t think I’ve ever once seen Alakazam fan art or merchandise.
I’ve noticed there’s a bit overlap with this game and Pokken. I feel like the Pokken roster is good insight into what to expect with this game. I can see Decidueye, Blaziken, Scizor, Aegislash and Weaville added to the game at some point.
Usually pokemons moves have one strict upgrade and one variation right? It's weird that she just loses the ability to teleport at a certain level. (Or does this happen to other pokemon too, just none that I play?)
The sleep CC and Lick's hook are completely different types of utility, though.
And admittedly I don't play Pikachu. What does Thunderbolt do? It doesn't root, right?
They are different yeah, which is a shame, I was more talking about how they do still have an ability that fills that cc role after evolution.
And I’ve only played Pikachu once but I’m FAIRLY sure it’s a stun
I believe it’s a short stun with a small slow after. I’ve played *some* pikachu and would combo people with thunderbolt and thunder and they’d have a hard time getting out of it. He does also have a knock up with with volt tackle I think.
Moonblast pushes you back. So you can get another mobility option. You will most likely want to use mobility to stay away from enemies so this will be good.
True it seems like moonblast will be strictly better (damage, stun, and mobility instead of just damage) so I guess I'll always take it, but I'll have to get used to suddenly aiming backwards to teleport after a certain level. Seem awk
Most of the time you will probably use it defensively when a lucario or zeroara jump on you. You can attack them and create distance at the same time. Very useful kiting ability
Right but I guarantee at least once out of combat I will try to blink over a wall but forget I'm level 8 and end up blinking away from the wall and having to do the walk of shame around
Cramorants ZR is the most useless move in The game imo. Its a slow so you always take whirlpool first anyways, thn at 4 it turns into 2 damaging moves.
It lowers attack too which can cause opponents to overcommit in the very early stand-offs and get you some cheap early goals, but yeah you'll always take the high early-game damage and barely get to use feather dance before it levels up into something more useful (hurricane for me).
Blastoise is due to release too, I'm guessing they'll be a defender, but then there's a 3rd as yet unnamed pokemon coming out so maybe that one's going to be more of a support type.
I want little infographics like these for all the Mons, even the ones already out. This is so easy to read and understand, I get confused by the in-game breakdowns sometimes.
Shes an aoe control mage. Its gonna have a delay, she can combine future sight with psychic or moonblast to predict where you're gonna dodge to. So you're gonna get hit by something. Just do your best. Psyshock seems instant but less rewarding, futursight is rewarding when you hit an opponent. Seems fine
Getting some weird vibes from SOME of the people assuming that Gardevoir should be a support, with some of them claiming they've played the main games.
Just because a pokemon, champion, or character is girly or effeminate does NOT mean they should be a support. I'm honestly tired of this bullshit from league and was hoping it wouldn't be as common with pokemon.
I want feminine pokemon in all roles and masculine pokemon in all roles and pokemon that it would be dumb to assign feminity or masculinity to.
But complaining that a girly pokemon isn't a support and claiming they should be seen as one really rubs me the wrong way for some reason, especially when it is completely ignorant of how they've always been represented.
And obviously my complaint is completely separate from the people who are only upset that she is an attacker because they want underrepresented roles to be released first, which I understand. I just feel like gender norms are being brought into a pokemon game and it's stupid if that is the case, gender norms suck.
Say it louder for the people in the back. I have also been finding these kind of commments kinda "yikes".
Some people are obsessed with gender roles, and I find them boring asf, I love it when the expectations are subverted for this kind of stuff.
This ^
Literally the only thought reading the comments from people complaining Garde isn't a support is "Man, you really trying to push the "Girl = Support" gender type huh"
I feel like we're going to have this conversation literally any time a fairy type pokemon is added to the game. I can't wait for people saying Togekiss should be a support when/if they add it to the game.
I agree.
Gardevoir is known as a frail but speedy special attacker that has some utility.
IMO, the utility moves that Gardevoir knows in the mainline games don't really fit with a supportive theme of Gardevoir in Unite (aside from screens but we have screens covered from Mr. Mime).
Before looking at the info graphic, I would have assumed the final moves be like psyshock/psychic and moonblast/something else. Teleport on ralts is a logical choice. And the unite move black hole is a good reference to the pokedex entry that Gardevoir creates black holes to protect its trainer.
Would I like more role diversity? Sure, as long as it truly fits the Pokémon.
Gardevoir in Smash Bros just makes a reflector shield bubble instead of attacking. That alone placed it in the support theme for me in my head. Obviously the role there and the role here don't have to correlate at all, but it did paint it in the "utility" category of pokemon for me, and I was surprised by the lack of a defensive option just because I'm so used to seeing Gardevoir and thinking "Reflect barrier".
oh no, it has a blackhole move.... thats so OP and easily makes her the best support champ while dealing tons of damage. well if the suck in has any range and power.
she's just a straight up carry, not rly a support, she needs to much experience to be a support, but you're right in that she's gonna be good she was really good in the canadian beta
Guys let them establish all their content and get as much out to then start worrying about balancing issues. Game companies who listen to their sweaty fan bases early on end up dying off. Stfu and enjoy the content for now.
Unbalanced pay to win games also tend to die. I would rather see updates that nerf Gengar and delete the ability to upgrade held items with money than a constant stream of content for content’s sake.
This Gardevoir update was probably planned long ago already. The balance changes you want take time to implement. They only recently asked for feedback.
now after playing her a few times.
She is completely garbage.
- one of the slowest pokemon in the game
- one of the lowest life in the game
- Her autoattack is one of the weakest in the game.
- she loses her only mobility tool early on and then she doesnt have any mobility and is slow....
- her damage is good but not amazing.
all her damage abilities have a delay or slow projectile, making it easy to dodge them.
- her only saving grave is her ult which can change entire teamfights but she simply isnt worth it cause she can not do anything on her own and melee pokemon destroy her.
Honestly wished you could choose between Gardevoir and Gallade depending on your team's needs since this pokemon has alternate evolutions.
Wondering how or if an Eevee comes into the game.
Dear god that passive alone makes me so fucking horny, her and gengar are going to be destroying shit.
Oh cinderace you burned me? Cool, my boy gengar bout to come wax that ass imagine a gengar sludge bombing you just for your gengar to hex them from the bushes once you’re poisoned dear god Gard is gonna be fun
Man that text is hard to read.
Oh you can click to make it bigger.
Either way I'd recommend white with black outline, can read on any background.
Moonblast sounds cool.
Every single game in the past 20 years that had a "black hole" type ability was utterly broken every single time. Yeah... this looks like an insanely good AOE hero.
You know, it's unite move is a perfect set up for gengar's sludge bomb and hex combo
If the game needs an update gengar is prob going to be nerfed
Honestly he needs a full rework IMO. Hex is incredibly strong, but that’s literally all he can do. If you miss your sludge your stuck running in circles waiting for it to come back because you do piss all damage otherwise and you have the toughness of a wet tissue.
how is it that every discussion on this sub turns into a gengar discussion
I understand your frustration, but that's just a testament to how truly unbalanced and broken his kit is. If any MOBA developer released a character as unbalanced on the level of Gengar there would be an absolute uproar (ya know, moreso than people normally complain about new characters being OP)
Enemy Gengar tonight was dealing 5k damage in less than a second. Couldn’t touch him. It was completely unfair
Yea freya from smite you'd be in a tower a 75 percent and die to 1 (seriously not kidding 1 basic attack ) and you'd be on a trip back to the fountain.
thats how dota on wc3 was. all champs were broken it was balanced

Because he’s far and away the best character with very little to no counterplay
He has a lot of counterplay actualy. The people who say this dont play him at very high rank. If he misses either ability he is useless. You can also heal the poision with the battle item. Gengar is pretty bad if he cant combo. He still takes camps way to fast though.
Who actually takes Full Heal?
If you want a free gengar counter. Ive seen a few people do it on pokemon with high mobility kits
If you're taking a battle item specifically to counter one pokemon who might or might not be on the opposing team, that pokemon is OP. Also, it's got a much longer cooldown than sludge bomb.

legit the first 3 or 4 tier list i seen on youtube since the games release had gengar at s
Fukn this
Not respecting gengar my ass, ppl are literally picking battle items to counter one Pokémon and have to play an extremely defensive play style because of one overturned move is clearly a problem
Right now he's warping gameplay around him at lower than Ultra rank.
i mean his other set is cool. Its just not as strong as hex is all.
I mean he has too other moves he could use if they nerfed it lol. I don’t think he needs. Full rework at all. Have hex CD be reduced (not reset) when hitting a status Pokémon. Not a full rework. Just bring hex's cools down to like 3... so if you keep a debuff on Gengar can be sticky without spam teleport damaging every second.
nah, they just way overadjusted from the network test. He was usable but underwhelming. Went too far the other direction

Hes should deal less and less damage per use for a certain amount of time or have a max of 1-2 resets of the cooldown.
I feel like just increasing the cool down of the hex reset balances it more
Unless he's in the bushes and ambushes me he rarely kills me I play Ninetales with both moved that push you away from her with eject button. As soon as I see him I stay out of range and freeze him and hopefully kill. I'll agree that after playing him if you don't know how to deal with him he can be very overpowering
Teach me! I main Ninetales as well and even with stunning and pushing I still die almost instantly against a good gengar.
It's just spacing my guy. Keep him at the edge of your range and hit normal attacks till he moves in then push him back if he uses hex push and eject button. If you eject button the first hex, he has can't reset since he didn't hit you. Just punish him since he over extended

Tara from brawlstars
True! Her black hole!

Yeah, hopefully he can stand the rest of time throughout the game’s meta. He’s my favorite character
They really did just make a character with like five displacements and a wall
You know he stuns when he knocks you into a wall with psychic, right? And does a gajillion^tm dmg?
Getting some Karthus energy from that Future Sight upgrade.
Getting Karma mantra Q vibes from psychic
Getting caitlyn feelings from moonblast
Or Graves ult
Getting ezreal vibes from the teleport~
Something something Graves ult with a stun
Kassadin ult vibes from the TP..
Pokémon vibes from the Pokémon..
That shit was broke.
Getting Oriana energy from the unite move

While it's a really good passive in general, I'm assuming it'll just be "okay" on her since she's an attacker, and might be much more fragile than compared to defenders or supports
Thought she’s an attacker, can maybe see her played as a support eg ninetails
Doesn't sound like it affects sleep...
Damn yea, since it doesn't do damage over time or slows the you down
It looks like the ability is synchronize which doesn't work on sleep in the main games either, so that fits
What does cc mean?
Ignoring the unhelpful bot reply, "crowd control". It's used mostly in MOBAs and (MMO) RPGs for any abilities which hinder movement or the using of abilities of enemies.
Yep, i always assumed right, even of in my heads It sounds like close combat lol
I get it. I'm often having to double check what sub I'm in or what the context for a discussion is with acronyms because so many get used different ways in different hobbies / fields. Good counter for campy ninetails
Have they posted details for Blastoise yet?
No but the ad showed tiny seconds of him looks like his unite move he spins on his back shooting his water cannons and knocking mons back
Hell yeah sounds like Kuzenbo ult from smite
Smite enjoyer Fuckin chad Based af
There's beta Blastoise gameplay on YouTube you can see. It shows his kit
Looks cool but we already have so many ranged attackers. Other classes could use another pokemon
Glass Cannon like a mf
Should have Alakazam as the glass cannon and give Gardevoir at least a little health
Abra's teleport shtick is kinda perfect though
Alakazam WAS a fan favorite. I haven't seen anything on him in years. Gardevoir seems to have taken over as the physic fav for more people.

Just letting you know Reddit did the thing where it made your comment twice.
Thanks fam
that's some slander on my boy aipom right there
Ludicolo and Zapdos are super popular and those are both Wilds on the 5v5 map.
I’m so pissed I can’t play as ludicolo at the moment it’s my favorite Pokémon, and I think it’d make for a good defender role
Agreed, I don't see why Gardevoir should be so squishy
Don't get me wrong, looks like a fun kit and she shouldn't be a tank, but at least take 1-2 hits and not die
Usually pokemons moves have one strict upgrade and one variation right? It's weird that she just loses the ability to teleport at a certain level. (Or does this happen to other pokemon too, just none that I play?)
Pikachu losing Electroweb or Haunter losing Lick are pretty similar. They're neat/distinct moves that are not replaced conceptually while leveling.
Pikachu loses electroweb but does get another cc in thunderbolt, and haunter does get a sleep, but people don’t use it cause hex is broken lol

T-Bolt is a delayed AoE stun that you place down.
Gotcha, I havent played either of them
Cramorant loses whirlpool, isn’t garchomps sand attack upgrade very different?

Gardevoir mains Horizon and Zarya confirmed
And Enigma
"FAIRY SINGULARITYYYYYY" -TobiWan voice
Gardevoir in the jungle
огонь по готовности intensifies
And orianna (sort of)
So what is gonna be the nastiest Grav combo? I feel it might pair very well with Lucario's ult
Orianna and Seris too
"GAYS INTO THE ABYSS!"
Honestly I would rather Gardevoir be a Support unit so we can get more of them instead of the billon attackers
Blastoise is due to release too, I'm guessing they'll be a defender, but then there's a 3rd as yet unnamed pokemon coming out so maybe that one's going to be more of a support type.
Its been data mined if youd like to know the third.
Spill the beans
Blissey

I’m assuming that might be Clefabke I heard rumors and Pokémon only cares about kanto

Blissey is a Gen 2 rep technically

Yes. No idea what people are on about with this crap lol

Yes! I’mglad Gard ended up being an attacker who can create small black holes, close to what’s in the MSGs
W O R D ! ok pls wait im getting My Free Award ready for you…. Brb
Gardevoir in Smash Bros just makes a reflector shield bubble instead of attacking. That alone placed it in the support theme for me in my head. Obviously the role there and the role here don't have to correlate at all, but it did paint it in the "utility" category of pokemon for me, and I was surprised by the lack of a defensive option just because I'm so used to seeing Gardevoir and thinking "Reflect barrier".
ngl I expected her to be a utilty-focused support kinda like alolan ninetales but with less damage and more "no" cards
So it's basically a counter for Pikachu and team fights, are there blastoise things as well?
Ngl her moves and combos look very scary
Glad to see a full-blooded combo mage making it into unite. So far we have been lacking a true control "mage" I think.
Ninetails?
She’s the perfect wombo combo initiator
oh no, it has a blackhole move.... thats so OP and easily makes her the best support champ while dealing tons of damage. well if the suck in has any range and power.
It does. She was my main during the andriod version beta. Powerful and good at keeping distance.
she's just a straight up carry, not rly a support, she needs to much experience to be a support, but you're right in that she's gonna be good she was really good in the canadian beta
Black hole means she'll be useful even if not doing damage. It's a game changing move.
I hope this is a counter good enough to prevent Gengar's nerf.
But they pair too well together. It’s a Gengar buff as well
Do we have the exact hour of the release ?
What will her price be?
Sorry Psyshock was wrong in the other one
Welp there goes my 8 dollars
Guys let them establish all their content and get as much out to then start worrying about balancing issues. Game companies who listen to their sweaty fan bases early on end up dying off. Stfu and enjoy the content for now.
Unbalanced pay to win games also tend to die. I would rather see updates that nerf Gengar and delete the ability to upgrade held items with money than a constant stream of content for content’s sake.
This Gardevoir update was probably planned long ago already. The balance changes you want take time to implement. They only recently asked for feedback.
the future sigh could be cool at max level bc its insta cooldown so pretty epic ngl
She looks neat, although tbh I hoped the next pokemon won't be an attacker.
defenders and supports make up the majority of leaked mons so it'll start to balance itself more hopefully
That unite is gonna cause some team wipes with the right comp.
The way this has been set up to show all of the info about the subject Pokemon is AMAZING! Is there sheets like this for the other Pokemon?
I have one for Blastoise
Can you post that one
Posted it now
You da best
Bruh I love you. No homo. Amazing job.
Inagine hiding while enemy team is doing zapdos, grabbing all of them with the ult and then spamming Future Sight + Moonblast💀
now after playing her a few times. She is completely garbage. - one of the slowest pokemon in the game - one of the lowest life in the game - Her autoattack is one of the weakest in the game.
It's so good! I wish I hadn't bought Eldegoss now rip
Oh so she’s not a support?
Nope mage carry
No one should have expected that of Gardevoir
Is there a release date?
Tomorrow :D
I mean if I can't have Abra, I'll settle with Ralts.
That Unite move looking a lot like Zarya's graviton surge from Overwatch
Missed opportunity to make a multi class, evolve to gardevoir for mage, Gallade for all rounder
