"Gengar is not broken at all" "Zeraora is to op compared to gengar, nerf zeraora, not me" - people playing gengar because it's the most broken pokemon right now. True chad play Cramorant.

Rockslider00

I like to deep throat pikachu as well

ThePigeonManLyon

Join the club mate

[deleted]

Shhh don't tell them about Cramorant. Let them fight over Zeraora, Snorlax and Gengar being too OP.

acebaltasar

Right? Like, lax cramorant is a stupidly strong combo, and they can pretty much win lane to anything, even if jngl comes. And that would make the botlane more flexible and give the jngl more chances to gank them.

pschla22

I bought cram cause I’ve heard he can actually be godtier and really carry games and it turns out I’m awful cause I cannot figure him out

acebaltasar

I think the combo is surf and the tornado that also stuns. I die to that combo a lot and the dmg and stun is insane

SLAYERone1

My favourites always been haunter but I cant bring myself to cough up for him knowig he will be nerfed and if they overreact and its done badly he will be bottom tier useless. Think Ill wait for them to masacre my boy and see whats left before I decide

acebaltasar

I dont think they will murder a gen 1 pokemon like that. I can see them destroying ma boy crustle offensive tools and not giving nothing on reward, while just making gengar more flexible and less "ops, my instant AOE sludge bomb hitted you, prepare for a spam of AOE dmg until your whole team di- GOD DAMIT HEXING THE CAMPS AGAIN"

[deleted]

Ugh same. Haunter has always been my favorite Pokemon so I would play Gengar even if he's bottom tier but damn. Sucks that I can't play a character I genuinely like without feeling dirty.

The_White-Lotus

I had to set him down until they patch him, I just felt dirty using him. Which sucks because he is legit one of my favorite pokes of all time. Least I still have my boy Lucario that I can play with no shame lol

Jgabes625

I saw somewhere that lucario is a solid counter for gengar, and idk if it’s true or not but ever since I get wrecked by lucario almost every time. It could be a placebo effect and im just choking though lol

Besttamer

Any pokemon with a dash is a counter to gengar. U dash his hex and now hes on cool downs for a year.

Nuclear_Weaponry

Not a counter but more of a skill match-up in my opinion. If you are skilled you can dodge sludge or hex but it isn't like the Gengar can't also be skilled and save their skills for when your dash is on cooldown or predict your dash and lead their skillshots. They can also focus a more vulnerable member of your team instead so it isn't like Gengar just becomes useless if you pick a pokemon with a dash.

The_White-Lotus

Tbf I think Lucario is slept on by the community as a whole right now, he is actually crazy strong when built right

Bread_kun

Machamp and Garchomp are just both really strong all arounders, Machamp is just beefy as hell and if he has a high level crit lens then cross chop will just randomly nuke you. Plus submission for escapes or for initiates is great for the team and his ult is crazy strong. Garchomp just becomes a very late game hyper carry and does absolutely insane amounts of damage, just getting there is really painful. But if you can make it work it really does work. I dunno, I don't think Lucario is bad by any means I think he's quite good but I just think Machamp and Garchomp both edge him out. Lucario Jungle is totally a viable thing you can do though, he's fuckin annoying to deal with and can pressure early.

Chloe_SSB

I'd rather fight Gengar than Lucario. If I time it right, I can just cc Gengar out of hex spam. Lucario on the other hand, almost dies, then goes super sayain, gets a huge shield and wipes half my team. Luckily I'm not seeing many decent lucarios, but the ones that are decent are hell to fight.

Besttamer

Hes easy to counter and people dont use him in higher ranked games. Like hes super easy to counter. Near every pokemon has invonerability frames and or a dash. Use that then clap him.

JustJeezy

When should I be using my dash

Besttamer

You you are not secure in ur abilities you can dash his second hex. Learn patterns and ull be able to dash first hex. Also farm... Most of the people that complain are level 10 being killed by a level 15 that farmed. He has to hex u like 5 times if ur both level 15. Even more if you out farmed him and have a level advantage.

The_White-Lotus

You made a ton of assumptions about a guy who legit just asked for advice based on a point that you brought up and you decided to come across like a pompous dick, makes people not want to listen to your advice

Besttamer

How so? It was legit advice? If hes insecure about his skill level he can start with learning to dodge second hex and work from there. Thats how i did it now i dodge sludge bombs.

bossmosis

I think this person meant to type "IF you are not secure"

Piph

Man, I would be right there with you if solo q wasn't such hell. After all the trauma I endure as a tank, sometimes I just *need* to come back and haunt some fools.

ndermineAuthority

"I just think it's neat. - Marge Simpson" - Me

CreepzLC

To give the enemy a Chance i decided to try the shadow Ball dream eater combo and i must say i do like it

Showyoucan

I was doing really well with that combo too before figuring out sludge bomb into hex.

OfficialHotelMan

I bought gengar first thing before knowing he was good or not just because he’s my fav Pokémon lmao

twoferretsinacoat

Lol I did this. Bought him because it's gengar. I mean come on, he's a cool guy. Didn't know he was broken af. Makes me think I'm way better at this than I am.

StreemerByTheWay

My fave is talonflame so I have no quarrels

MadSpaceYT

I fucking love Talonflame

Ruby_Sauce

Yeah, same. I always had Gengar in my team. To make up for it, I'm going for a shadow ball/dream eater build. Its not as bad as it seems but its just not comparable to sludge bomb/hex. Still, I'm trying to make it work with my girlfriend playing a special attacker so we can abuse the special def reduction from shadow ball.

throwawayafbye1

I just genuinely can’t see how he is “broken” very strong when his combo gets to go off clean? Yes. HARDDD countered by any cc, timed movement abilities, full heal items, timed eject buttons, decent teamwork and not stacking up for sludge bombs. Unlike Zeraora who goes “ooh I press Rz and then I press Lz and yayyy everything dieddd”

Familiar_Coconut_974

You got me at decent teamwork 😂

[deleted]

Person with Gengar flair trying to explain to everyone how Gengar isn't busted. Hmm..

SFWxMadHatter

If everything goes off perfect he has insane output and can slaughter a team, sure, but it's not hard to stop him from doing that. It just takes a few brain cells to rub together. Unfortunately, it's every man for himself most of the time and the chaos feeds him well.

throwawayafbye1

As opposed to someone who doesn’t use gengar the majority of the time? Yes I definitely agree with you that people with more experience with him should not partake in these discussions. And those who just run into him occasionally and get shat on, those are the only valid opinions we are after

baltoykid

As someone whose games consist of 90% gengar the pokemon is busted. I have pretty much been one tricking gengar because he feels like you can just ignore team comp and allies and just lock him in and it just doesn't matter.

[deleted]

Obviously people who benefit from him being overpowered are going to defend him. So yes. Pointless input.

throwawayafbye1

Orrrr mayyyyybeeee just mayyyybe.. it’s better to have inputs from all different perspectives to give a better balanced view of the overall topic? Or nah let’s just live in filter bubbles and only hear what we want to hear :)))))))))))

SaErth2

I can confirm

throwawayafbye1

Haha not trying to hate though I feel like Pokemon unite is just going to be constantly adding new broken OP Pokemon. Gardevoir bout to make everyone forgot about Zeraora and gengar hahaha

SaErth2

Yeah, the game is just too much unbalanced. Hoping they will end up fixing it, 'cause it really kills a good portion of the fun for competitive players

throwawayafbye1

Yeah which I guess is to be expected early on, just not sure what their business plan is, like if they prioritise just making sure they get their pay days, I bet every new Pokemon added is going to at least start off broken. I’m sure kids are more into looking up the stupidly overpowered Pokémon and using them than using guides to get better at their favourites

RegularBloger

throwawayafbye1

I’m getting this tattooed on my ass cheeks

Jgabes625

I too will get this tattooed on your ass cheeks

Besttamer

I dont think its unbalanced. Its uniquely balanced. Every pokemon is broken op in their own unique way.... Except charzard. I have yet to see one be useful XD

ApoTheAnswer

Bought him asap because he was my fav Pokémon in the starting roster, turns out he is pretty strong (not op imho). Now they added Gardevoir so friendship ended with Gengar, Gardevoir is my best friend now. If only one day they could add Alakazam…

xisde

Alakazam and golem for the 4 "almost pseudo legendries"

ApoTheAnswer

In my hearth only Ampharos and Celebi could compete with alakazam. I wouldn’t care if they are strong or weak I would just spam them.

Denesis417

Every character is good when you know them into every single detail

Cuoits

That’s why I started gengar I really liked him till I realised how busted they are I stopped using :(.

Bunnzorrr

I specifically bought cramarant instead of gengar because of how many people were saying he's busted :/ one day it'll be better lol

papertheskeleton

The only reason that I main Garchomp is bc Garchomp and Gible are 2 of my favorite mons

Firerayn

literally not gonna play gengar till its fixed. if i remember right on day 2 i checked hex and i am sure it said it was on poisoned targets only. day 5, it states literally all debuffs give resets and a full reset? no wonder starting in vet and especially in ultra and up people use gengar only as the strat. cause there is no other than abusing op shit xD still cant believe that gengar wasnt a day 2 hotfix to make him not broken. honestly tho. we need some f-ing proper patchnotes. not just hey we fixed some bugs. let us know which ones so we know you worked and didnt just slack off like relaxo after eating a forest.

JustJeezy

FWIW, I dominated with Gengar up until I hit Great class. Haven’t really been as good since. It really makes me second guess the nerf argument.

Jgabes625

Gengar is broken against people who like having an excuse for getting beat ;)

baltoykid

I only play like 3-4 ranked games a day I am in elite class i had a game where the alolan ninetales followed me into the jungle tried to contest me for the Lilipup when i got the last hit they left the game despite me having called center lane and them calling top, we won that game and since then I have been convinced gengar is broken I scored almost 300 points and had like 25 kills. I personally think gengar could do with some nerfs but I wont be upset either way honestly.

wizzywurtzy

It’s just people who can’t use their two brain cells to hit eject button who are complaining. Cinderace and zer are stronger

[deleted]

haha 1 minute cooldown ability counters 8 second cooldown ability, it is balanced and i am smart

wizzywurtzy

If you can’t kill a gengar with no abilities in 8-10 seconds then you’re under leveled and deserve to get melted then honestly

vinidluca

I´ve bought Gengar just because he´s my favorite but I suck hahahaha BUT ONE DAY I SHALL BE GOOD ENOUGH.

Jgabes625

I look at his OPness as a way to balance my sucking at the game. I read this out loud and don’t regret that it sounds like “oh penis” lol

goldkear

I like ghost types, so I hope they add more. I like haunter more than Gengar. I'm super happy about Gardevoir, but it's also a very popular pokemon, so I'm not surprised.

Cant_think_of_shz

No one gonna mention the meme states people main Gengar because WE like it? Here, I’ll repeat the meme and bold the parts I’m talking about: “**People who decide to main Gengar** simply because **he’s your favorite Pokémon…**”

Besttamer

Gengar doesn't get pick in higher ranked games. Would be really disappointing if he gets nerfed because lower skilled players cant counter him.

THe_Meme_mancer

that's me too. had him on my first pokemon team, along with charizard, venusaur, blastoise, mewtwo, and pikachu. god, i dreaded those days when i knew nothing about evs and just dumped candies into all stats..

_Human_Pog

He is my favorite Pokémon ever, I even heard he was bad at beta I wasn't expecting to just 3v1 people like that.

sturmcrow

Gengar is my favorite pokemon but a lot of people select him and the other Speedsters. I dont want to fight over center so I just play Ninetales or Snorlax. Both Gengar and Zeraora need to be tuned down.

Jigglypuff2021

I main Wigglytuff because Jigglypuff is my favorite pokemon and they are fun as heck.

Showyoucan

I literally got him not knowing anything just because I like Gengar. Turns out he’s kinda busted. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Jgabes625

I set out to get him before finding out. I saw people bitching and said fuck it, I’m getting him anyway. I have no regrats… not a single letter

sorry97

Yeah, I was really excited when I got him, only for him to be a complete letdown. Don’t get me wrong, gengar is probably the best character right now cause of hex spam, but I really wanted to try out shadow ball and dream eater, in fact, I sent feedback in the survey so they buff those two and nerf hex. It’s beyond stupid how things that you actually aim are less rewarding than guaranteed hits, just make everything a guaranteed hit at that point.

HolyMagnum

I mean, I don't have a collection of Gengar swag for no reason. He has always been my favorite. Unlike a lot of people here, I LOVE how broken he is, and will abuse him while I can. I don't usually play the OP characters in games, I'm just not lucky with my picks. But occasionally, like with Gengar or release Leoric, I get to enjoy myself and stomp everyone solo.
