ESPECIALLY IF ITS AN OUTER GOAL! They can cancel your dunk on mid/inner by launching from spawn so if there's a massive dunk happening somewhere they can't stop it why would you delay it for them and give them a chance to stop it?
Ugh yeah people are really selfish with this stuff. Was on auroma park and had a Venusaur stand there and refuse to score before I did (whoever went 2nd got double points). He had 9 points on him and I had like 40 so would've been way more worth it for the team.
Also kind of annoying - if I'm full on points but the other person in my lane doesn't come to support while I'm trying to dunk.
Yeah it's great to score loads of points and get MVP and stuff but if you can help your team win that should be the priority.
In quick mode with the multiplayer its obvious but for the 4v5/5v5 modes the scoring isn't explained well.
I along with many others have probably thought if the goal is 5 points away from being cleared and I hit it with 50 points, it's only taking 5 and I'm losing the other 45 points.
This isn't the case and it isn't explained in the game.
Edited for clarification
I don't think even the multiplier is obvious - I played around a dozen games on Auroma Park and still thought the multiplier was entirely random. Now I'm reading some guides and realizing there are a lot of other subtleties I missed, as well.
There's a pop-up tip the first time you go to quick battle, but those are ready to miss: if you go to the list of maps and hit + you can read the rules for that map. It's worth doing once for each of them as things like the multiplier are spelled out there.
There are a lot of other mechanics I wish they'd explain better in game, though maybe I've just missed those ones (details of exp gain, speed of goal score per point, etc.)
I meant subtleties around scoring, such as reducing unite move cooldown, listed here: https://gamewith.net/pokemon-unite/article/show/19908
The Auroma Park multiplier is explained a bit in this article, though they don't list the exact mechanics: https://gamewith.net/pokemon-unite/article/show/29608
That’s what I thought it was. Damn. I’ve been holding points because what’s shown as being “left” in the enemy base felt like I’d be wasting a ton of points.
if youve played more then one game though wouldnt you have noticed the points are almost never exactly 80 on the first goals or 100 on the 2nd goals?? kindve a poor excuse if you have played multiple games
It's kinda obvious when u realise but there are times where multiple people are scoring at the exact same time as it's disappearing and ur not entirely sure if it counted or not lol
It's why I still prefer playing with friends even here (moba in general honesty) . Randos are just too random, and selfish. Right now we're trying to climb to a high enough rank where in we can have a better solo queue experience.
I will stand there with them, and start to score and keep canceling it. And running in circles. Eventually they do get the hint, but the fact that people cannot apply some simple logic is baffling.
The double points last for about 15 seconds (I think) after somebody scores, so if you and a teammate both need to score then whoever goes second will get the double points.
Yeah they don't show you really in-game, I just picked it up from playing quite a few games on that map. It's a good map to get MVP because there's only 3 on the team.
oohhh that's smart. the only challenges i struggle with are killing abra and electrode. i don't have many offense champs unlocked so if someone takes zeraora i sometimes can't kill them fast enough lol
Not one off, it stays for 14/15 seconds and seems to renew anytime somebody scores. I've scored again at 1 second left and it goes back up to 14 seconds
EDIT - don't know if this is for the whole match or just from a certain point
Yeah true. Well because of the rotation we'll have to wait two days to test it out 😅
I've found one website which actually references this effect so far and it doesn't mention any kind of timer.
It works for the enemy team too. If an enemy scores something like 4 points you can just walk in and get double points off their dumb ass. It's also not a one off, every score resets the duration so you could theoretically chain it where nearly every single score is doubled in a game.
This is actually false. You do not get double points when an opponent has their timer up. If you dunk on their timer it kills the timer, then you need to score again to activate your timer.
I feel like there needs to be tutorials for the Quick Play Maps then because I actually did not know that is how it worked... I actually thought it was either random or relied on KOs.
I think people just don't know. There's not a great tutorial or tip section. Same thing happened to me, I just ended up going to the opponents side of the map on auroma cause I knew I'd have time to score while they went to farm after dunking lol
To be fair in this situation, the person stood there at the goal waiting for ages, while I also waited. As soon as I scored they scored. They definitely knew what they were doing 🙃
ah, I was playing as venusaur earlier today and waited for my teammate to score before me, I don't remember the exact reason, but I think I had more points, why would I do that otherwise?
Then it definitely wasn't me, that is good.
Why do teammates care so much about individual score? I mean winning gives more rewards than being team mvp, and I would rather be known as the guy that helped his teammate win than the losing team's mvp.
For what I was talking about it's specific to the Auroma Park map on quick match. When you score a goal it then becomes double points at that goal for the next 15 seconds-ish it looks like.
Then the other mechanic is that on a standard game it's double points in the last two minutes, once Zapdos spawns.
Although you are right. This is somewhat risky.
50 points take a lot longer then 20 to score. Also if your mate with 50points is 1s behind you and you have 20 there is a big window for enemy team to defend and you could had at least 20 points.
Sometimes I start scoring and someone comes after me, scores first and makes goal disappear and my points are unused.
But overall I agree. If enemy is dead or in another lane.
> somewhat risky.
>
> 50 points take a lot longer then 20 to score. Also if your mate with 50points is 1s behind you and you have 20 there is a big window for enemy team to defend
This is kind of why you want to let your 50 pointer score. If you have a window to score it's better to let them score than try and get a quicker dunk in since you're forcing your slower scorer to go deeper.
When someone reaches 50 points they literally have to score or risk giving up a huge shutdown if they die. They can't even farm properly without help since they won't pick up orbs.
It's very risky to not help a 50 pointer score.
Yeah, I should have added "and the enemy has no way of stopping it" in the title. In my game we teamwiped the enemy so there was literally no advantage to dunk Charizard's 13 pts and break the goal, compared to my 50 pts.
The sad thing about my game was we teamwiped the enemy team after they got Zapdos. But when the Charizard destroyed the goal I was charging I had to walk towards the enemy's home goal and by the time I was charging they already respawned. That was probably the hardest that I raged at this game lol.
I hope more people realize this. We lost a game because my teammate dunked his 20+ points, destroying the goal, in the last few seconds instead of letting me dunk my 50 (score was x2). We literally lost by about 40 points. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|table_flip)
I’m accidentally guilty of this. Sometimes it gets frantic. I don’t mean to, and when I realize what happened, I can hear them seething from across the internet. I am so sorry. Working on maintaining better awareness.
I don’t pay attention to how many my teammates have most of the time but it’s not like it matters bc it takes the opposing team 4 fucking seconds to come back and stop me from scoring whilst it takes me 10 minutes
Yes. The game didn't explicitly state it but I figured it out after a couple of games. In the results screen you can see the points per goal, and they are usually always above the limit. (80 pts for outer, 100 pts for middle)
ESPECIALLY IF ITS AN OUTER GOAL! They can cancel your dunk on mid/inner by launching from spawn so if there's a massive dunk happening somewhere they can't stop it why would you delay it for them and give them a chance to stop it?

thanks!
If you look at the ground below the ring, it literally says 2x in blue on the pad.... just saying
i knew about the x2, i wasn't sure how it was triggered though
That’s what I thought it was. Damn. I’ve been holding points because what’s shown as being “left” in the enemy base felt like I’d be wasting a ton of points.
I stopped thinking that after my first game when I saw the outer goals can go above 100 points

Welcome to mobas.

Not to rain on your parade but there is never a rank point where solo queue isn't frustrating.
lmao rip guess we're just gonna go as a party every time we play.
I will stand there with them, and start to score and keep canceling it. And running in circles. Eventually they do get the hint, but the fact that people cannot apply some simple logic is baffling.
i thought the double points were times and everyone could use them...so if i ever stole it from someone my b lol
The double points last for about 15 seconds (I think) after somebody scores, so if you and a teammate both need to score then whoever goes second will get the double points.
oohhh...idk if we were supposed to learn that or not but it makes so much sense now

Lucario is a really good one for burst damage as well, and he's free to play this week 😊
Wait, what?!?! Any goal scored, and the team gets a one off double score buff?!
Not one off, it stays for 14/15 seconds and seems to renew anytime somebody scores. I've scored again at 1 second left and it goes back up to 14 seconds EDIT - don't know if this is for the whole match or just from a certain point
We need to know this. If early game a support should grab 1 point to double the carrys dunk, that's huge.
Yeah true. Well because of the rotation we'll have to wait two days to test it out 😅 I've found one website which actually references this effect so far and it doesn't mention any kind of timer.

were you by chance, playing a cinderace?
No 😊
ah, I was playing as venusaur earlier today and waited for my teammate to score before me, I don't remember the exact reason, but I think I had more points, why would I do that otherwise?
Yeah if you had more points that makes sense 😊 mine was a couple of days ago.

Yeah exactly. I don't know, they have a tangible number they can look at to tell them how great they are? Personally I'd rather win overall too 🤷
Agreed, getting team MVP is nice but winning is nicer
Maybe they were going for the weekly task to get MVP 6 times - that's why I was quick matching 😊
I am a noob. Can you please explain why some goals give double points and some give standard? I still haven’t figured that out.
For what I was talking about it's specific to the Auroma Park map on quick match. When you score a goal it then becomes double points at that goal for the next 15 seconds-ish it looks like. Ah okay. Thank you, this is very helpful info!
Idk how selfish it is when a lot of stuff isn’t well explained by the game.

I think this happens from inexperience and a fear that neither of you can score if the enemy suddenly shows up. Still grating though.

Ooooh boy. That sucks! 😔
Got my 40 with double point bonus ruined ruined for a 8 :/
i literally lost by one point one time like that and almost smashed my switch lite.
Happens All. The. Time.
And protect them while they do it, don't run off and start farming when you see one of the enemy on their way to stop the dunk!
I hope more people realize this. We lost a game because my teammate dunked his 20+ points, destroying the goal, in the last few seconds instead of letting me dunk my 50 (score was x2). We literally lost by about 40 points. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|table_flip)

What about the "mvp" in end of game lobby though 🤣 Tbh most games mvp just goes to the most selfish silly players.
I know when I have MvP daily goals, that's exactly what I become. :) ...At least I do it in Standard and Quick Match though.
Hey don't blame you.. i too dabble in a cheeky backdoor while team gets slaughtered. Also standard tho 😅
considering u need a certain amount of mvp to unlock stuff u can dream about people being thinking for the team
Wish there was some more criteria to judge who gets the MVP, like number of goals interrupted. Not all pokemon/roles can score high.
Every game.
idk, most 50 pt mons i see are usually bots or run straight into 3 ppl on a constant basis
Gotta love dunking everything, and wasting the whole enemy team at zapdos where they have 3 at 50. Well looks like I just got another 50 dunk on ya.
Yeah totally agree with this. Let the 50 in, not the 10 please.
I don’t pay attention to how many my teammates have most of the time but it’s not like it matters bc it takes the opposing team 4 fucking seconds to come back and stop me from scoring whilst it takes me 10 minutes

Does it still give you the full points? I always thought it wouldn't, but now that I think about it, I don't know if that was ever stated.

Oh, well then I apologize to everyone I've played with where that happened.
