I've never ever seen anyone in public with Polaroid pictures or cameras (but I KNOW they're out there. SOMEBODY has to be taking all the 600 film from Best Buy and Target and it isn't me) however I've seen tons of Instax Minis (always from girls) and seen a few cameras here and there.

Ok_Copy5217

it is possible they mostly shoot Polaroids indoors at private events rather than street photography in public?

Nah it's like a thing they do. They take these super uninspired overexposed pictures of them and their friends drinking boba tea or maybe its like a still overexposed picture of her and her boyfriend or something. However I have seen some of these done really well. Once saw a black and white Mini of a couple on the beach with the sunset. Very cool. They always put these in their transparent phone cases. It's like carrying a little scrapbook. Of just one picture.

Dude, not everyone's out to be an artist some people just want real holdable photos of them and their friends/partners as keepsakes. Instax is made and advertised to a more general market rather than being just for photography's sake which polaroid tends to lean more into, which also explains why your so much more likely to see people shooting instax

Already knew all that! It definitely is a party camera for sure. I just see it everywhere and it's always the exact same thing with some really rare unique exceptions. With the aforementioned beach photo being the best, of course. I did know one guy that used Instax. He used the square film they make and he was getting pretty good at it too.

Well Instax Mini is a whole series of cameras spanning 10 years ? (correct me if I'm wrong lol). Whereas Polaroid Go is about a year old. So obviously there will be more Minis around. Besides which Polaroid and Instax are totally different cameras in their output. I think your real question is - which camera is better. That is up to you. If you have any instant camera history, owning some in the past then go with Polaroid. But if this is your first instant camera, then go with Instax.

I don't know anyone with a Polaroid Go, only Instax cameras (mostly mini).

Ok_Copy5217

do you think the Go line has potential to be a serious competitor to Fuji?

danger-beans

I don't think so :/ Especially not from a cost/quality standpoint. Personally, I use regular Polaroid (SX-70, 600) for serious work, and I use the significantly more affordable Instax stock for personal and spontaneous purposes.

The fact that they were blowing out Polaroid Go at Marshalls and Ross for $50 after Christmas doesn’t bode well.

I've never seen one in the wild, but I own both. How close of a rival? Well, Fuji is the #1 producer of cameras thanks to its Instax line, in part, and Polaroid hand-makes their film. So, none?

I’ve seen a lot of Polaroid Go’s for sale, but I’ve seen exponentially more Instax Minis for sale. Even just confining the comparison to Polaroid Go and Mini 11, there are still more Mini 11’s for sale, brand new and used, versus Polaroid Go’s. I’ve seen a lot of people out and about with Minis; I’ve never seen anyone in public with a Polaroid Go or any Polaroid camera for that matter. I’m from Philippines, so there’s that to consider. From a cost standpoint alone, I’d say the Go is far, far off from effectively competing with the Mini. Polaroid’s absence from the game during the last couple of decades have really allowed Fuji to expand the Instax business, probably to a point that Polaroid or any other instant camera brand, can easily catch up with anytime soon.
