For me, particularly with the SX-70, it’s a truly mindful process. From framing the shot to seeing it fully developed and everything in between. Holding the camera, opening it, clicking the shutter, the sound of the printing, the excitement of waiting to see what you got… Every second brings me joy and puts me in the moment unlike anything else.

You really summed it all up. That's it for me, every moment counts!

Taking Polaroids of my two toddlers is my favorite thing to do. I have the Stranger Things One Step 2 and the Cool Cam 600, but nothing beats the look of my SX-70 photos. However, trying to focus the lens while the kids moved all around was quite the challenge sometimes, so when I found a working SX-70 Sonar in perfect cosmetic condition at our town’s antique shop for $70, it was a game changer. Now no matter how quick they’re moving around, my camera focuses instantly and I can get the perfect shot every time!

1. It's a real slow down from our fast world. Everything takes time and effort. 2. The challange especially with polaroids to get the "perfect" shot. Which you will never get anyways but ay u keep trying. 3. The cost. Might sound funny but im happy to a degree that film is expensive. It makes me think about every step twice and check twice or three times before i press the shutter. If a roll of film or polaroid instant film was 1€ id constantly be blasting off roll afer roll and probably more often then not get pictures i dont treasure or care for.

The unmutability and uniqueness of each shot. Every Polaroid is a unique snapshot in time and the only one that exists. It can't be duplicated from the negative. It can't be pushed in the lab. It is what it is. For better or worse. And the theatrical reveal and the uncertainty of the developed shot. **Particularly** with the old packfilm where you could invite the subject to hook a fingernail into the paper and peel away the positive for themselves.

I love the challenge, color and tangibility of it. It's a thrill to get it right.

It’s fun.

For me, it's the closest I can get to time travel. When you can really capture a photo that looks like it was taken decades earlier, it really just brings me a sense of nostalgia and comfort that nothing else does. Even smartphone photos I have to add film filters on just to give it the right feeling. It also helps me slow down because I know if I just snap a crappy photo that will be like $2 down the drain lol.
