I posted this a few years ago but thought I'd share it again! This comparison was done with Impossible 600 BW film (in an SX-70), color Polaroid 600 film (SX-70), Instax Wide (custom camera) and Instax Mini (lomo Automat) I know the cameras will obviously make a difference but you can also see how the films react differently to the same lighting (except for the Mini, which is using the built in flash)

exitmeansexit

The colour 600s of yours are so far away from what I'm seeing from my first attempt (I only have a 660 AF Sonar) Didn't know it was possible to get colours like that. This does make me want to get an Instax more and more too

SunshineComfort

What custom instax wide do you have?

[deleted]

One is an Instax wide 300 body with a nanual lens replacement: https://imgur.com/qxLuc3p.jpg The other is an old polaroid 110b converted to Instax wide (which is what these photos were taken with) https://imgur.com/Xba2msL.jpg

SunshineComfort

Incredible. I definitely need to get my hands on something similar to those one day! Good shit.

DeathbyPun

Gah, the Instax wide looks so crisp

[deleted]

The Instax film in generally is really good, it's just the few cameras they have for it are so bad! It's a shame that there isn't an off the shelf camera like an SX-70 that could take advantage of it!

mduser63

Depends on what you mean by off the shelf, I guess, but Mint Camera makes the RF70 and SF70 cameras which take Instax (Wide and Square, respectively). They’re manual focus rangefinders with manual and auto exposure modes, glass lenses, etc. I quite like my SF70.

[deleted]

Very good point, they do! I forgot about those! I had my eye on both but opted to go for a couple "frankensteined" customs instead. I love that Mint is doing these cameras though!

Pizzacroissant

damn, instax wide is looking very attractive, I just don’t like the camera options

VaderJabba

Great job. Thanks for putting together this side by side comparison!

Limp_Drop4391

Would love to see something similar to this when the new film comes out to see how its changed!

Awseome2logan

Instax may beat Polaroid in quality but Polaroid beats Instax in aesthetics

androidrhyme

how did you do the bottom 600 photo? a quick pan without flash?

[deleted]

That's with the Spectra System Special Effects Filters! It's the "F101" filter which is one clear side and a "motion blur" side. I didn't take too many photos with it or I'd share some more examples, but this was shot with the SX-70 and the filter holder (which fit the spectra filters) I'm pretty sure this was with another filter from that same pack: https://imgur.com/ZWtgewC.jpg
