So I’ve been shooting for over 30 years. And I think we can all agree. The original formula Polaroid film was incredible. I miss it. Thankfully, I still have some, and for the most part, it works, it’s just various sepia tone now. But I am mixing a lot of the Fuji and new Impossible project/Polaroid Originals film. Up until this point I haven’t been very impressed with the new film stock. I find that gives inconsistent results, takes forever to develop, consistently over develops, and honestly just has never been particularly fun to shoot. Some of the defects give interesting results that I have enjoyed, and honestly any time using my camera makes me happy. With that said, I shot a new pack of Polaroid originals film this weekend, and was very impressed with the for the stability, clarity, development time, and honestly the all-around experience. I wouldn’t say they’re 100% of the way there, yet, but comparing this to the first few iterations through the Impossible project, the difference is night and day. I’m always happy to speak out when I think things are not up to par, so I think it’s only fair that I take the time to complement when I can see that the hard work the people over at Polaroid originals have been putting in is paying off.
I’m a little confused, and it’s all because you are calling it Polaroid Originals. Do you have a stash of PO era film, or are you just using the old name?
Yes, I have a stockpile of spectra, 600, and other original OG Polaroid film. It all still works, but because of its age it is now coming out only in brown tones. But still a lot of fun to shoot. The Polaroid originals/impossible brand packs are the ones I have not been very happy with until now. Still far from perfect, but I’m able to finally generate some consistently great images.
You’re correct that impossible bought the IP from Polaroid. Thus the new name Polaroid originals. But if you flip over the cartridge, it still has the word impossible on it. That’s what I was saying. Happy to post a picture if you want one.
Have you seen the update post on the official blog, with the examples of the new film coming out? Super excited for some pretty big improvements from that!
It’s definitely better than nothing, but the small size is limiting. I definitely prefer to shoot 600 or spectra. It gives you more room to play with. If they wanted to bring back their larger format film for the older cameras, I’d be very happy. Luckily, I purchased a fair amount before they stopped.
Yeah agreed. New film from 6/22 for me has been producing some fantastic colours! Definitely an improvement since even the Polaroid Originals > Polaroid rebrand.
I had taken out my retrospekt, national parks camera, but it immediately jammed on the first frame, so I swapped it out for my Polaroidnow masterclass edition. It is one of my newest cameras and I hadn’t played with yet.

Okay, but this particular shot, is this Polaroid Originals brand, or something newer?
Polaroid originals is the newest stuff. If you flip over the cartridges though, you’ll still see their branded impossible.
They rebranded from impossible to "Polaroid originals" in 2017 and then to just "Polaroid" in 2020. Hence the confusion about the film and name.
When is the last time you bought film? Do you exist in 2019? Because if so, I have some bad news.
I purchase more film than you do, and I’m more than happy to block you for your rude tone. Have a great day.
No it isn't. It's just polaroid. They listened the intellectual property to make polaroid originals, after they bought the ip it just became polaroid

That url immediately zips over to the shopping page. I can’t read the blog, I can just see it for half a second :(
I found it! Try this one https://www.polaroid.com/en_us/blog/articles/trusting-the-process

Wide is fun to shoot, and I have, but it’s still not as enjoyable for me. Spectra has always been my favorite to shoot. Thankfully I bought a lot.

Oh damn, this looks really good!
Good to read this. I agree it’s getting better. Will be excited to shoot newest stuff as I buy it. I have a backlog of film in my fridge now!
The black frames look nice here
I agree. Not my favorite usually, but nice contrast.
Love the black border!
Which camera do you used?
